Southeast Bexar County Awareness: Commissioner Rodriguez in Action

Commissioner's Reaction

A visibly angry County Commissioner, Sergio "Chico" Rodriguez let his anger get the best of him when he lashed out with unnecessary comments to the Southside ISD Superintendent, Dr. Juan Jasso and possibly violated the Texas Open Meetings Act. At best Commissioner Rodriguez let the community know live via internet just how the commissioners work.

Setting, a meeting at the commissioner court, room full of tax payers having their voices heard in open court and via satellite tv.

Mr. Inmon with AtaBexar VFD approached the podium and asked for permission to give the commissioners a copy of something that he'd brought to show background on Mr. Hearn, in hopes of having the commissioners at least table the motion or possibly looking for another candidate all together.

Judge Wolff in disappointment to the South Bexar County Community did not take the lead and create a discussion, instead allowed Commissioner Rodriguez to act out in an undignified manor.

The same manor his brother Ciro Rodriguez behaved when questioned by a taxpayer in his much publicized video.

Commissioner Rodriguez Calls it a Formailty

As Dr. Juan Jasso, Superintendent of Southside ISD mentioned the hardship on the district of the expense of the lawsuit during these economic times, he also stated that it was necessary because the community and 5200 students are at risk. He continued speaking to the Commissioner's Court and pleading for them to table this item until March 1, 2011, when the School District and the ESD#6 are due back in court, the Commissioner, visibly angered, commented that, it would be something he would have to explain to "his" (the Superintendents) constituents and that he would be sure to pass along the information to the judge overseeing the case.

At this point, Commissioner Rodriguez, leaned forward and continued to talk in a less than professional manor to Dr. Juan Jasso and explained to him that Joe Hearn's appointment was "just a formality", because Mr. Hearn had already been approved two agenda's ago.

While it was been proven that ESD#6 Board President Sylvia Ruiz Mendelsohn (campaign manager for Sergio "Chico" Rodriguez) is known for putting the cart before the horse, it quickly showed that Commissioner Rodriguez was also applying the same principles.

According to the agenda's the Commissioner spoke of, It is easy to see that two agenda's ago, there was never any mention of Joe Hearn, unless of course, this was a back room deal, in which case, then the County Commissioner would be correct.

January 25, 2011. County Commissioners agenda as pertaining to the ESD6 appointments. Two agenda's back and No Joe Hearn.

Feb. 8, 2011. County Commissioners agenda. To rescind and reappoint the members of ESD6, due to clerical error. No. Joe Hearn.

While the South East Bexar County Community was discouraged by the blatant disregard of facts by the County Commissioner's; it has forced them to realign and push forward in a positive manor. Always remembering that cool heads prevail.

Well I guess I'll be making some request from Commissioner's court.... And see what they have to say about Joe Hearn from two weeks ago. Because I know a few people that have been looking at the Commissioner’s agendas. Gotta love Texas Open Records Act

Thank you Abecadarian. I am sick to my stomach with our Commissioners Court and especially Judge Wolf. A good Shepard is found faithful. We do not have one in commissioners court. No body in there stood up for the citizens of South Bexar. It is amazing to me that Chico commented on the monies spent for legal action taken by the school district. Classic pot calling the kettel black, however 25,000 spent by the school board to protect the kids and the community and Chico has spent $180,000 in attorneys, that is almost half the fire protection budget, for a community center. You need to Explain that to your constituents Chico. 1 more year with this crook South Side and let send Chico and ESD6 board packing

Comment, you are welcome. Ms. Hammond, Open Records Act is the only thing that keeps politicians honest, with exception of the few that think they are above the law and eventually find out that they aren't. Frustrated, don't give up. A cause as important as this cannot be given up on. Public awareness and support is the key. Hang tough you guys. I am proud of each and everyone of you for fighting the fight for what is right. Others sit behind and ask you to keep them informed and a few are strong enough to take up the cause, those are you who are replying, the few, the strength behind the fight. I commend you and will assist you as best as I can.

Well I can keep up the faith that myself or one of the many other applicants who are not part of the the "inner circle" will still beable to gt a position on the ESD#6 Board. At least until we can replace the County Commissioner and the entire ESD#6 Board.

Good for you Mr. Bouldin, for keeping the faith. I will pray for that as well.

Well I received a letter from Sergio "Chico" Rodriguez today. "Dear Mr Bouldin, Thank you for your interest in serving on the Emergency Services District 6 Board of Commissioners. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to review your materials and commend your willingness to serve our community. It was a difficult decision, but I have selected another individual whose qualifications match the needs of ESD 6 at this time."

Fortunately I had a shovel close by, or I would have drowned in the organic material pouring out of the letter. Is he really that far separated from reality??? well the fight continues, and the war will be won!!!

I HEAR THE SPORTS AUTHORITY HAS HIP BOOTS ON SALE. Keep that sense of humor and don't lose faith. I see this as the calm before the storm. He had to appoint this board before they go to court on the 1st. Because he wanted to side step the judge and the monitor. Which is in line with the behavior of the ESD board.
