Class of driving licenses: Ontario Hey every wondered what the different classes of driver licenses there are in Ontario without purchasing the book to find out. There are several different kinds you can get, there are also different combinations for example a class A C M with Z endorsment, this person can drive a tractor trailer, regular bus, motorcycle and can operate vehicles with Air Brakes. Here is the break down enjoy!

Clases

 

Class A= any tractor-trailer combination, you may also drive a class D and G with this license.

Class B= any school purposes bus, you may also drive a class C, D, E, F and G.

Class C= any regular bus, you may also drive a class D, F and G.

Class D= any truck or combination provided the towed vehicle is not over 4,600 Kg, you may also drive a class G.

Class E= School purposes bus – maximum of 24 passenger capacity, you may also drive a class F and G.

Class F= regular bus – maximum of 24 passenger capacity and ambulances, you may also drive a class G.

Class G= any car, van or small truck or combination of vehicle and towed vehicle up to 11,000 Kg provided the towed vehicle is not over 4600 kg.

Class G1= Level One of graduated licensing. Holders may drive Class G vehicles when accompanied by a fully licensed driver with at least four years of driving experience. Additional conditions apply. 8 months with driving school or 12 month without school to apply/test for Class G2. Also zero blood alcohol level

Class G2= Level Two of graduated licensing, Holders may drive a Class 6 vehicles without accompanying driver but are subject to certain conditions. 12 months before you can apply/test for Class G. Also zero blood alcohol level

Class M= Motorcycle License, may also drive a Class G vehicle as a Class G1 license holder.

Class M1= Level One of graduated licensing for motorcycle, may drive under certain conditions. Also zero blood alcohol level

Class M2= Level Two of graduated licensing for motorcycle, may also drive class G vehicle as a Class G1 holder. Also zero blood alcohol level.

“Z” Endorsement= required for operation of motor vehicle with Air Brake system. There is a written and practical test to achieve this endorsement.
