Climate Skeptics Beware!

Thanks to the climate skeptics, we will be heading where no sensible creature will dare tread ...

Climate skeptics … Be careful where you tread…  You may think that global warming is a laughing matter. That you know more than the scientific community.  Go ahead listen to the oil industry, coal-powered utilities officials, so-called weather “experts” hired by fossil fuel lobbyists to make false claims.  Go Ahead, Fossil Fuels…Burn! Burn! Burn!  Because that is where our world is heading…  Hot as Hell!

Climate skeptics … you are heading over cliff full steam ahead.  Goodbye!  You might as well go blindly into an empty elevator shaft.  Ignoring climate change gives you the same results.

Remember what happens when the British leaders ignored Hitler and the invasion of Europe?  Most of Europe was captured by the Nazi and Britain was busy being bombed day and night, before Britain woke up and said, “Oh, this is really happening?”

Climate skeptics, continue burying your head in the sand.  As you continue heading towards that empty elevator shaft,  I’ll be prepared.  With a rope, flashlight and food and water, I will be ready for it.  I will be ready for climate change and the end of fossil fuels,  where will you be?

If you are worried about hurting the economy by reducing the burning of fossil fuels, I guarantee the economic losses due to extreme weather will be five times greater.  Think about that while we still have a chance of doing something about it before it becomes too late.

Very well said Road2hell. These global warming deniers are being foolish. They are puitting off relatively inexpensive costs now and are pushing larger ones off on their children. This along with probable environmental hell.

I can't see how people can believe them. The climates skeptics are following the Republican agenda; believing that the future is getting rosier, that there is nothing to worry about. Support the status quo. It is hard to believe that there is a lot of Christians that support the Republicans. The Republicans are leading the Americans on a path of self-destruction.

"Drill, baby, drill! Burn, baby, burn!" You are passionate. Now if we only had a few billion more as passionate, we could really get something done. What is the rope for?

Thank you i scribble. Everything I write in this hub and others I have created are all passionate. I believe in what I write and say and is due from years of reading and research. We are supposed to be the most educated people around but with some of the stupid, ignorant comments I have read on other hubs and forums, I find it hard to accept.

The rope? It really symbolized that the rope is my means of escaping from the coming castrophes by being be prepared. I have the means of preparing for the coming storms while the rest of "What Me Worry" group perish.

Climate Skeptics you have been warned! This can be applied to the "oil is here forever" group as well.

I for one, didn't know what to believe. Having been around the block a few times, being very familiar with scare tactics from ALL political fronts, and not liking to take ANYONE'S word for anything on its own merit...I spent quite a few days researching the issue from BOTH standpoints. I wrote my own article on the topic. As much as this may pain you to hear, there is untruthfulness on both sides of the issue. Since I did my research painstakingly and ferreted out just about everything ever written on the topic, I came to my own conclusions. I suggest you all do the same, and not just listen to opinions for one side or the other. We Americans must learn to seek for ourselves, think for ourselves, and then take appropriate action. That's all I'm going to say on the matter. Road2hell: I can tell you are very passionate about this issue. Please make sure you read everything and discredit nothing based solely on political agendas!

Well, I have looked at both sides of the issue. My researh has been intensive over the last six years when I see what is happening to our environmental due to the government's strong interest over the economy, at the expense of the environment and social issues. I strongly believe in a balanced agenda involving all three issues.

My interest in environmental issues extends back in the late sixties with my involvement with couple of Environment groups. When I see how the environment is been destroyed by lobbyists and right-wing thinkers on the political front, I decided to study the situation from many different points of view: political, economical, social and global.

My findings definietly is slanted towards the environmental point of view because the status quo is protecting themselves and will do anything to convince us that are acting in our best interest. Their arguments are weak, and not base on sound, scientific principles. A lot of money is spent by the companies who have the most to lose if they need to reduce (note: I didn't say eliminate) their production of fossil burning activities.

I have a university degree in physics and mathematics, as well taking courses in economics and environmental science. I feel confident in my understanding of the science and economics.

As my friend once told me, if you ready want to know what a company or government agenda really is, just follow the money trail.

road2kill: that's my point...the money trail..most research is funded by governments and special interest groups/corporations. I have not found one scientist working on a government funded project that has given an opinion challenging the government's stand. You might say it's because the concern is legitimate, therefore, no opposing view will be found by a man of science. And I might be more willing to embrace the idea but for a very important factor.

Though there are big corporations funding projects with the intent of presenting a view supportive of their agenda, there have been quite a number of scientists who have challenged the authenticity of those other findings and the tests used to arrive at said conclusions. Some of these esteemed scientists were not funded by any other than impartial philanthropic organizations, and some used much of their own money.

I guess my point is that I would feel much more comfortable if the governments' paid researchers had a little more diversity in opinion. It's very unlikely that out of all of them there isn't one who came up with at least a slightly different conclusion. It's like they're all "yes" men.

On the subject of energy...I'm all for green and clean! But I'm for it because it's the right thing to do. It will preserve the beauty of this planet for future generations, etc.. I won't accept what I feel is a hoax simply because it will suit my personal agenda. It's just who I am. I stand by my principles at all costs, as I'm sure you do. It's been great exchanging thoughts with you!

I'm not to sure the government is supporting the global warming issue. If you're a conservative or Republication, you support the fossil and energy sector by denying or not mentioning anything about global warming. If you are a Liberal or Democrat, you may support some research but you are also careful where you sent the money. The Lobbyists and skeptics make sure of that!

I didn't necessarily mean the US government..there are many governments who have jumped on the bandwagon hitched up when Thatcher needed to make her bid for being taken seriously as a leader.

Actually, Thatcher didn't get on to the bandwagon until she was already a leader of her country for a number of years. It wash much later that she started to take global warming seriously. I wonder why.

Thatcher was a leader prior to becoming Prime Minister, in her position as Education Secretary. Her taking on the Global Warming issue was a result of an alliance made with Crispin Tickell, who had been a follower of the debate for quite awhile. It was at his suggestion that she use her background as a springboard to bringing the issue into the limelight. The fear of Global Warming had been tossed about since the 1880's, but predictions of raised temperatures by the 1940's never happened. In fact, many of the calculations and future predictions proved to be untrue. Therefore, the subject wasn't taken seriously by those in the science fields. Thatcher was the driving force of shining the spotlight on it publicly, when she announced a call to action to the UN in 1989. She was Prime Minister for 10 years prior to making such a public request. This doe not mean she wasn't already planning her position prior to the announcement. Of course she was. Every step taken by any gov't leader is scrutinized by the world at large. Presentation is everything!

road2kill 5 years ago

Would she be elected if her views were known by the public the first time she ran? How does her belief of global warming fit in to Raeganism? She follow many of the priniciples of the right-wing politics (and global warming was definetly not one of them!)

Global warming into become a red-hot item until 1988 when James Hansen of NASA warned of the potential dangers of continuing burning fossil fuels.
