War in Syria and Bible Prophecy

The Middle East erupted in conflict when the people of Egypt marched in the streets during the Arab Spring crisis that eventually brought down President Mubarak who was arrested and tried for war crimes. Soon Libya revolted against Muammar Qadaffi, who was executed by his people. The unrest spread across the region and soon Syria was in the middle of the conflict. The Syrian rebels are made up of many people who are seeking to bring about Islamic rule through the region and the world.

This unrest in the Middle East has long been seen as a precursor to the events that have been prophesied that will culminate in war against Israel and eventually the Battle of Armageddon. Even now the major players who were listed in the book of Ezekiel 38 are making alliances.

Isaiah 17: 1-3 Damascus Prophecy

Isaiah 17:1-3 — “The oracle concerning Damascus. ‘Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city and will become a fallen ruin. The cities of Aroer are forsaken; they will be for flocks to lie down in, and there will be no one to frighten them. The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and sovereignty from Damascus….’”

Jeremiah's Prophecy

Jeremiah 49:23-27 — “Concerning Damascus. ‘Hamath and Arpad are put to shame, for they have heard bad news; they are disheartened. There is anxiety by the sea, it cannot be calmed. Damascus has become helpless; she has turned away to flee, and panic has gripped her; distress and pangs have taken hold of her like a woman in childbirth. How the city of praise has not been deserted, the town of My joy! Therefore, her young men will fall in her streets, and all the men of war will be silenced in that day,’ declares the Lord of hosts. ’I will set fire to the wall of Damascus, and it will devour the fortified towers of Ben-hadad.’”

Chemical Warfare Vote

President Barack Obama and Senator John Kerry beat the drums for war during the last week of August while United Nations investigators went into Damascus seeking answers to the question about the use of chemical weapons on the citizens of Damascus. The members of the UN were fired upon and got in and out as fast as they could manage to do so. As the world waited for an imminent attack by the United States, allies began pulling back. British Prime Minister David Cameron experienced a stunning defeat as Parliament in London refused to back his desire to join the military action against President Bashar Al-Assad in Syria. France appears to be holding on but they are waiting for the American Congress to act before making a final commitment.

President Obama Seeking Allies

The international community has largely pulled back from action in Syria due to the chemical warfare atrocities recently done to the Syrian people. While President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry claim to have rock solid evidence that the Syrian people were gassed; there is no clear evidence as to which side did the deed. The Whitehouse believes that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is guilty of using chemical weapons on his own people and thus must be punished for this action. Members of congress are debating whether to approve this action and nothing will be decided until all members of the Senate and the House return to Washington on Monday September 9, 2013.

Starving Civilians Flee Syria Due to Civil War

Thousands Flee As Assad Uses Chemical Weapons

A child became the one millionth (1,000,000)person to flee the Assad regime in Syria. Secretary of State Kerry claims to have rock solid evidence that President Assad used chemical weapons on his own people. Diane Sawyer at ABC states that 10,000 people flee the war zone every day as refugee camps become full to over crowding in Jordan and Turkey. The world watches and waits for action. Who will take the lead?

Update: 2,000,000 civilians have fled the Syrian civil war. They are entering all countries around Syria such as Iraq, Jordan, Turkey and even Egypt to avoid the conflict.

Damascus in Bible Prophecy

Perry Stone, Director of the Voice of Evangelism in Cleveland, Tennessee, states, "It has been noted that in the prophecy of the war of Gog of Magog in Ezekiel 38... Syria is missing from the list of nations that form an (Islamic) coalition and move like a violent storm cloud over the mountains of Israel," Stone writes. "It just may be that the destruction of Damascus – a city that houses an estimated 10,000 terrorists and is friends with the radical government in Iran – will serve as the trigger for the predicted Islamic coalition to make its move upon Israel in the future, as retaliation for a war that occurred prior to the war of Ezekiel 38 (which tells of an invasion of Israel)."

Russian Syrian Announcement

Developments in Damascus

Proverbs 27: 1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

Truer words were never spoken. The critical international crisis has taken the most amazing turn. Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad turn over all chemical weapons to the international community.

Americans are overwhelmingly against the US taking action in Syria and this feeling has grown as the crisis continues to develop. While Russia has been a behind the scenes supporter of Iran and Syria, they did not choose to take a front and center leadership position until recently. Russia looks like a peace maker and the United States looks weak. It is difficult to know what to make of recent news.

Neil Cavuto and Joel Rosenberg on Damascus Prophecy

Damascus Count Down

Popular fiction writer Joel Rosenberg appeared with Neil Cavuto on the Fox Network to discus the Damascus prophecy. Rosenberg made it clear that the prophecy has not been fulfilled but there is no guarantee that current events will definitely end in the total annihilation of Damascus.

Events have brought the details of this prophecy into the public consciousness and there is great fear in the world of world events escalating into a nuclear conflict. In the middle of all this is Israel who is increasingly isolated as the United States appears weak to the international community. Americans are tired of war and only a new American tragedy is likely to bring Americans back into war.

Wisdom From Proverbs

Proverbs 1

Wisdom’s Rebuke

20 Out in the open wisdom calls aloud,
she raises her voice in the public square;
21 on top of the wall she cries out,
at the city gate she makes her speech:

22 “How long will you who are simple love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate knowledge?
23 Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings.
24 But since you refuse to listen when I call
and no one pays attention when I stretch out my hand,
25 since you disregard all my advice
and do not accept my rebuke,
26 I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you;
I will mock when calamity overtakes you—
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

28 “Then they will call to me but I will not answer;
they will look for me but will not find me,
29 since they hated knowledge
and did not choose to fear the Lord.
30 Since they would not accept my advice
and spurned my rebuke,
31 they will eat the fruit of their ways
and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

New International Version (NIV)

Vladimir Putin and America's Shame

In an article in the New York Times Russian President Vladimir Putin appealed to the American people to abide by the rule of law and remember that Americans are not exceptional as a country. He made sure to tell us that we are all created equal under God. He also called the United States criminals for intervening in any situation in the world that is not approved by the United Nations. His piece sounded so reasonable and in some instances was right. Unfortunately, now that the United States has abdicated the role of leader of the free world to a Russian thug who is now nothing more than he ever was which is a Colonel in the Soviet Union's KGB. There was a time when those words brought terror to people around the world.

We are living in a generation whose youth have come of age with no memory of the Soviet Union's super power status or the Cold War that existed for many years. Americans are complacent because we have never had a debilitating war on our soil. Evidently, people actually believe our country avoided invasion and war by accident because we are just plain good people. Our president, who agrees with this philosophy; and our Congress, who are held to the will of the people are not acting for the good of this country. No one wants war. I am a Republican and I was against the war in Iraq from the beginning. Our leaders and like minded individuals appear to believe that we can bow out from the world stage and there will be no consequences. Anyone who studies history knows this is not the case.

The strong always control the week. This is a fact from the beginning of recorded history. If we are not willing to use our strength we most likely sooner rather than later face the wrath of our enemies. For those of you who think we are to blame or that we have no enemies I suggest you remove your blinders. You are in for a wild ride. When Israel feels totally alone in the world they will be left with an unpleasant option. Then the Damascus Prophecy will assuredly be fulfilled.

Thank you, Suzette, I too am very sorry for the Syrian people. There are many innocent people caught up in an epic war that cannot end well for anybody in the region. I actually believe events in this region can rock the whole world.

Very interesting and informative. Your understanding of the facts of all this is amazing and I agree, you have presented this so well. I agree, Americans are complacent and apathetic and don't realize what really can happen if the middle east blows up. I feel so sad for the Syrian people and the war they are experiencing. We don't have any idea what a war on our land is all about. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and warning us of may come.
