Chiquita Lost Her Appetite

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, August 3, 2015. Cicada Chiquita is at the breakfast table. She is out of her mind with rage, because she has learned that the Navy is considering bringing charges against Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White for using his personal weapon to bring down the terrorist who attacked the Chattanooga, Tennessee Naval and Marine Reserve Center on July 16. He used his own handgun to defend his men against an attacker who killed four Marines and a Navy specialist. The Navy should be pinning a medal on his chest. Something is terribly wrong with this picture. Chiquita has asked me to extend an invitation to all the poppers this morning. Please join her at the breakfast table. She will be serving French toast and butter. I will be serving Irish coffees. We hope to see you soon.

Tragedy Upon Tragedy

Thank you all for joining me this morning. Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez attacked the U.S. Naval and Marine Reserve Center with a handgun and an assault rifle. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White returned fire using his personal weapon. The Pentagon is going to investigate the circumstances of White's actions. The nation would be better served if they investigated the terrorist who killed four Marines and one active duty Navy reservist. Cmdr. White should be receiving a medal for his heroism. The Navy is more concerned with the fact that the inane policy of the military does not permit service members to carry firearms on military facilities. The policy is bizarre and dangerous. It is, in my view, an open invitation for terrorists to attack our men and women on bases all over the nation. Chattanooga won't be the last of these attacks. It's a target rich environment, and the terrorists must be jumping for joy. Lt. Cmdr. White could face disciplinary action for violating the policy that does not permit weapons in a gun-free zone. It was relatively easy for Abdulazeez to violate the rules, but then that is always the case. In this country, we tie the hands of the good guys to give the bad guys a chance to maim and kill.

Rules That Kill

I don't know the rationale behind banning guns from military bases or Reserve Centers, but the geniuses who came up with this plan should be prosecuted. We train military personnel to use guns and then we take those guns away from them. I can't even think about how many more people would have been killed if Lt. Cmdr. White wasn't armed. That's what the Pentagon should be thinking about. Our service men and women are sitting ducks thanks to an insane policy that only benefits the lunatics and terrorists who enjoy targeting those brave people who are charged with protecting us. I have always felt that this nation prefers a dead hero to a live one. Make no mistake about it, Lt. Cmdr. White is a hero. Thank God he was carrying his personal weapon. If not, he and many others would have lost their lives that day. I just don't get it. Was he supposed to call the local police and hope they got there in time? Is that what this administration expects of those that serve our nation?

Handcuffing the Good Guys

I hope there is a great deal of outrage about Lt. White's position. The media is all over the death of a lion. We have dead military in our country, killed at the hands of a terrorist. We have a terrorist who the media is reluctant to call a terrorist. We have a president who is mum on the subject. We have a Pentagon that is more disturbed by an armed military man than an armed jihadist. We are warned not to rush to judgement when it comes to terrorism. We are told we must be sensitive to the moderate Muslims who live among us. I am not feeling very sensitive right now. I am angry. I don't care about the sensitivities of moderate Muslims. If they exist, they are certainly very quiet about Isis and their radicalization of young fanatics. I care about Lt. Cmdr. Timothy White. I care abut his lovely wife Franici and their six children. Number seven is on the way and my thoughts and prayers are with that baby, as well. I don't care about the military's policy of keeping our nation's heroes unarmed and vulnerable. I don't care about an administration and a Congress that can't see the forest for the trees. I have had enough of political correctness. I am sick of uber sensitive idiots who make mountains out of molehills. We have serious problems in our nation, but we don't have serious leadership. We don't even have a serious electorate. If Hillary Clinton is still considered a viable candidate for the White House, we don't have a prayer in hell of dealing with issues like terrorism. Lt. Cmdr. White is a hero. He should be treated as a hero and this disgusting investigation should be dropped immediately. He deserves an apology and a medal. Those who think otherwise deserve a slap in the face and dismissal from the military. It is about time that common sense ruled the day. We no longer can afford anything less.

Chiquita's Song

I'm Chiquita Cicada and I'm here to say

Make sure this investigation goes away!
