God's Authority and Climatology
What in the world is really going on?
The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together - and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the vipers nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Isaiah 11:6 - 9.
Sound too good to be true? Well for those of us who believe in the infallible Word of God, it's a day we look forward to. For those who are skeptical, perhaps this will be food for thought, something to contemplate.
My focus regarding this hub has done a "180"....initially my intention was to cite those passages to support my belief that in heaven, we will encounter animals....Jesus is to return mounted on a white horse.. Biblical references to animals give me assurance there will come a day when I will see many beloved creatures - not all being human or angelic - in heaven.
Now back to my change of direction....the above referenced passages are in relation to Christ's second coming and his reign over the earth, the result being peace and tranquility. This age will unquestionably be equated with experiencing heaven on earth (which in many aspects, we can experience that today...but that's another hub altogether....Bill Johnson has written an outstanding book "When Heaven Invades Earth" if any are interested however). Fear will no longer exist.
Believers should look to these passages and recognize nature will be in balance and harmony. Perhaps those who are passionate about "global warming," in contrast to "climate change" unknowingly are attempting to control and alter something that is part of God's plan. Being that we are not God, this is not possible. Of course I'm not trying to discourage anyone from making the world we currently live in a better place. I just hope efforts aren't misguided.
I am an 'ex' aspiring environmentalist. In the early to mid 90's, I was in pursuit of a college major along those lines...(that was BC or 'before children'... as well as the 'BC' most associate with that acronym). Today my beliefs are more aligned w/climate change as I know this has occurred throughout history. Attempts have been made to explain 'cause and effect' regarding our climate yet the majority is theory and speculation rather than fact. What wiped out the dinosaurs? Was it an asteroid? The Great Flood? Climate change? Did a natural disaster happen, to include something foreign entering our galaxy, which brought about climate change? What came first, the chicken or the egg? How much does it really matter?
Here in Washington State, this past winter (and Spring!) could not possibly contribute any valuable support to those claiming what's currently happening with natural disasters and the melting of polar icecaps is associated with global warming. I encourage you to check out the utube video I'm including as I find it to be very balanced. The point which is made about how much money is thrown into (wasted?) researching something we really have little control over should not only be disappointing to some people - especially those of faith, but also a bit disturbing in the context of good stewardship and the domino effect that every move we make (or don't) has.
