Death Of A Coward

Portrait of A Coward

November 10, 2009 marks the date of the execution of John Allen Muhammad, born December 31, 1960 as John Allen Williams, infamously now known as the Beltway / DC Sniper. Put down as you would a wild animal who is a danger to society. The media is in full frenzy mode with the news of his execution. In their rabid attempt to get the story first, not one has made note of the dead and wounded of this tragedy other than "victims".

None of the victims knew they were in the sights of this manic. Most were killed or wounded while doing daily mundane tasks unaware a coward lurked out of sight waiting for his kill shot. This monster, in human form, took pleasure in preying on the innocent implementing his revenge on society who he blames for his recent personal problems and lack of life skills.

I feel no pity for this animal or for his defenders who cry foul due to a possible "mental disorder". The very tactics implemented by Muhammad and his accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo were ingenious, he and his cohort evaded arrest from an array of law enforcement for twenty-two days, they meticulously planned and executed each attack thoroughly. I would not consider these actions those of a person who is mentally deficient. The mentally deficient are not organized in thought or deed. The amount of planning and focus needed to take aim on unwary prey would be a difficult undertaking for the mentally imbalanced. But as with most of the criminal persuasion a bit of stupidity also plays into the equation.

The victims should not be forgotten, granted nine were able to sue the weapons maker and gun dealer it does not bring the victims back or give back the lives of the wounded. No one remembers the victims only the perpetrators of this crime. These were everyday Joes going about their daily routines knowing nothing of John Allen Muhammad, or his psychopathic need for revenge.

The victims, a babysitter, part-time taxi driver, pizzeria owner, FBI Intelligence Officer and a thirteen year old boy who was wounded just to mention a few. All taken too soon and the wounded will never forget this tragic day.

The deceased:

James Martin, James Buchanan, Premkumar Walekar, Sarah Ramos, Lori Ann-Lewis Rivera, Pascal Charlot, Dean Harold Meyers, Kenneth Bridges, Linda Franklin, and Conrad Johnson.

Wounded:

Caroline Seawell, Iran Brown and Jeffery Hopper

I can't begin to fathom what the survivors, friends and loved ones must be going through, time supposedly heals all wounds some wounds will take longer to heal than others. The outcome of Muhammad and Malvo's trials may have brought some solace, but the deceased will never return we speak of "closure" but what does that really mean? The victims were contributing members of society, and even if they weren't they didn't deserve to become the targets in this heinous act.

Muhammad professed his love of Allah which in reality was a facade. True believers in the Muslim faith are makers of peace not proponents of mayhem and murder. This facade was used to blind an underage accomplice and mask his feeble plan to blackmail a city government and hold it's citizens hostage.

This criminal passed quietly away never realizing or caring about the pain, heartbreak and terror he dispensed those twenty-three days. All in all he was not blessed with a conscious. His heart carried only a lust for vengeance against imaginary enemies. This life lesson will be lost on those gun toting, fifth amendment alarmist, all the victims, including the FBI Officer, were mostly unarmed, death came upon them like a thief in the night. Picked off by a coward hidden in a rigged up trunk of a car, no weapon could have protected them or changed the outcome.

My hope is that when John Allen Williams wakes from his final sleep, and if he hasn't made peace with his God before his demise, that he wakes up in hell. This wannabe terrorist should suffer a lifetime of the pain he so selfishly inflicted on his victims. He was nothing more than a common criminal, no one special, not even remarkable. Eventually he took the cowards way out...death by the state.

Thank you Duchess. This moron's name will go down in history and the victims will be all but forgotten except for the title "victim". I thank you for your time and leaving a comment. Peace to you and yours

Thank you for this pmccray. And thank you for the names of the "victims". You are so right, they are so often forgotten. I'd much rather we heard about their lives than regurgitate the story of the shooter.

Welcome blackreign: yes I agree, what angers me is the fact that he inflicted terror and harm to those that were innocent.

This is a raging injustice and I careless of his reasoning. I call him a coward because to take is own life is one thing but to act as judge and jury on the lives of others, basically back shooting individuals is an act of cowardice.

I really appreciate your read and comment. Thank you so much.

That whole situation was a low down dirty shame. You can't just go around assasinating people. Some folks who become awakened to what's around them and they loose it. Unfocused and not properly channel anger is a recipe for disaster. I don't know if that was his specific issue he may have been just an evil demon on a mission for the Dark one who knows. This is NO way an excuse for him. I want to make that clear. I pray for the victims and their families.

Thank you again for taking the time to read and make a comment on the hub. You are so right. It's such a travesty that this self absorb person took out on strangers his frustration of his own life failures. It irks me that so many had to die and / or suffer because of his selfish actions. I am not an enthusiastic supporter of the death penalty, but this guy was caught red handed, his crimes were most hienous and he needed to pay. Thanks again for the comment Micky Dee - you and yours enjoy a marvelous, blessed day.

Thanks for the names. To him they were just anonymous targets. It makes me think as stupid as hate is - hate makes more sense than this. It's all terrible, needless, senseless. Of all the roads this guy could have taken, he certainly took one of the dumbest.

You're welcome and correct most times the victims are of no importance unless their famous like Sharon Tate or Versachi (sic). Thank you for taking time to read my piece and comment.

Thank you for mentioning the victims of John Williams aka Muhammad. Too often the victims are totally forgotten.
