Chiquita is at the Table

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, July 6, 2015. Our noisy friend, Chiquita Cicada, is at the breakfast table this morning. She cannot believe the heat Donald Trump is taking because he dared to voice an opinion. Chiquita has asked for the pleasure of your company this morning. She wishes to discuss the current atmosphere of intolerance that is sweeping the nation. Chiquita has prepared a crustless quiche for your enjoyment. I will add some spice to the meal by mixing up a batch of Bloody Marys. We hope to see you soon. On the way over here, try to keep a low profile. America is not quite as free as it once was.

The Facts

Thank you all for joining me this morning. Donald Trump pointed out that Mexican illegal immigrants are bringing all sorts of problems to our shores. He dared to voice his opinion about what, if we are to be honest, is an out of control and dangerous invasion of our nation. We can thank President Obama for that. How ironic that the lead up to the Fourth of July week-end warned all Americans to be vigilant. The threat of a terror attack was very real and very high. In the same space in time, every liberal and some conservatives took the time to skewer Donald Trump for pointing out that some of the people entering our country were nothing but trouble. The fact that our porous borders also allow terrorists to enter our country didn't get any play in the news. It has been reported that ISIS has set up training camps in Mexico and that entry into our nation is made easy with the help of the Mexican drug cartels. The media also failed to mention that numbers provided by Immigration and Customs Enforcement state that nearly 87,000 illegals were captured committing criminal acts in the United States. Bear in mind that this number only reflects those that were apprehended. How many of them are still out there committing crimes? Trump wasn't exaggerating when he made his remarks. He was speaking up about an invasion of our country, and whether people like it or not, he had every right to do so. It is clear that free speech only applies when what is being said is PC and on the acceptable list as set forth by the completely intolerant left. The absurd thing is that the media is blasting away at Trump's statement, but has thus has failed to come up with any facts to refute the truth of his remarks.

The Left Strikes Back

NBC has severed its relationship with Donald Trump. I cut NBC out of my life a long time ago. I do not appreciate being lied to and manipulated on a daily basis. I find it so hypocritical that NBC finds Trump so distasteful but keeps the home fires burning for Al Sharpton. Univision has cut ties with Trump and will no longer be hosting the Miss Universe pageant. Trump has filed a $500 million lawsuit against them. They deserve to be sued. The Mayor of New York, Bill DeBlasio has jumped into the attack. He made the totally inane and illegal promise to have his henchmen review all the contracts Trump has with the city. Somebody ought to tell DeBlasio that he doesn't have the right to cancel a thing just because he doesn't agree with a person's opinion. I don't know what planet the mayor is on, but it isn't planet Earth. Donald Trump can easily withstand the economic costs of the Left's attempts to harm him. I pity the ordinary citizen who comes under fire for similar remarks. We are fast becoming a nation of suppression and intolerance. American's who love our country and want it to return to a nation that cherishes freedom ought to stand behind Trump and anyone else who dares to tell it like it is. I have no doubt that Chris Christie will be next in line to be attacked.

Sane Minds Must Prevail

Political correctness is the end product of a nation that has far too many ignorant people walking around. Remember the good old days when comedians could tell a joke and not be attacked because it offended somebody somewhere. I am surprised we still have comedians. College campuses used to invite comedians to perform all the time. The atmosphere in America is so weird right now that most top comics won't set foot on a campus. Students and faculty have become stupid, overly sensitive and humorless, and things appear to be getting worse. Let's get real. Our nation is being invaded. This administration has tied the hands of the border patrol and by doing so compromised the safety of all of us. A beautiful young woman was murdered in broad daylight by an illegal alien who had been deported many times for the commission of felonies. San Francisco, a sanctuary city, turned him loose and because of their insane decision a family is grieving. What we need right now is a strong dose of the truth, Trump style.

Trump was only giving his opinion. Before the socialists took over, everyone had an opinion, and no one was dissed for it. Now, if you have an opinion, and the left doesn't like it, you get dumped on. If the leftists would shut their mouths, maybe a young lady would be alive today. But no, we have sanctuary cities that ignore federal law and give safe haven to illegal criminals. Would San Francisco have given sanctuary to the two convicted murderers who escaped prison in NY if they made it to the left coast? I think not. But if you are in the country illegally, you have no worries!

Good Morning Chiquita and Patti. I am sensing that many are just plain afraid of Donald and know they could never beat him in a fair fight.

In my humble opinion, Donald is exactly the person we need for at least one term to get us back on the road to recovery following 8 years of the current administration.

All but a couple of the current Presidential Wanna-be's are much more concerned with power than they are about fixing this broken country. They will say anything they need to say to get elected, then like Obama will do the opposite of everything they promised.

Nothing Donald said in his speech is not true. He just said some things in plain english that many don't like to hear. Their style is to use weasel-words and dance around the problem so nobody can get angry with them. They are part of the problem and not what we need running this country at this point in time.

We need an extremely strong leader to fix what is broken and I think Donald could do it if they don't crucify him prior to the election.

Always an interesting read. We can both agree that there needs to be changes to our immigration policy. See how easy it is to find common ground, no matter our place on the political spectrum? :)

Good morning, Pop.

Although Mr. Trump has some very salient points, it is more his presentation that ires so many. At best, he is quite caustic. If you want to serve up a dose of reality to a gross population, presentation is key. He is offensive and lacks the requisite skill of being politically correct in how he translates his ideas into formal language.

We live in a world today with a rising populace in the latin community. The key element to not offending cultural members is through education and appropriate communication. Maybe presenting Martin Luther King's ideology, "We are all in it together."

I am by no stretch of the imagination a politico, but I feel that Trump is too severe, and he is also not being taken seriously, just a spoiler in this race for president. However, the networks were wrong to pull out because our founding fathers did want to have us preserve freedom of speech.

Good Morning taxlarry,

The very notion of a sanctuary city is insane. America no longer gives a damn about the law. Our leaders are clueless, dangerous, in denial and a complete failure. The world is laughing at us and Mexico is laughing the loudest of all. See you at the Inn.

Good Morning Mike,

I agree with you. Truth is in very short supply these days. When I listen to these would-be candidates try to be PC, my respect and support for them dwindles. I am tired of this persecution by the Left. Trump has the courage to tell the truth and I for one appreciate it. See you at the Inn, a very un PC place to be.

Good Morning billy,

All it takes is a sane mind and a willingness to compromise and appreciate the truth. See you at the Inn.

Good Morning Robin,

Political correctness is the samosa stupidity to me. I agree there are better ways of presenting the truth, but I don't think Trump is bad for the race to the WH. He certainly has and will make it interesting. I am tired of politicians who dance around the issues trying to please everyone. That is a recipe for failure. We need strong leadership, and frankly if the race came down to Trump versus Hillary, Trump would be my choice. See you at the Inn.

Pop and Chiquita,

Like you, my fascination with NBC News waned significantly when Chet and David rode off into the TV News sunset. I must admit to an admiration for Tim Russert prior to his untimely death.

Like some others, I don't know if I would have expressed The Donalds thoughts in his style but it was quite Trumpish and all I can say is right on.

The PC Police are a large part of what is wrong with this country today. Most of our current Politicians are afraid to just tell the truth about what is really going on. If they do tell the truth and offend the wrong people that is the end of their political career.

It must be hard trying to walk in the middle of the road all of the time.

Good Morning Tom,

The Donald tells it like it is. He has an ego bigger than the globe, but he is accomplished and regardless of his style I agree with him most of the time. I'll see you at the Inn.

Dear Mike,

The Left is so extreme and off the wall that there is no compromise where they are concerned. I am sick of political correctness. There is nothing "correct" about it! I'll save you a seat at the Inn. Let's be as politically incorrect as possible.

DJ Anderson 17 months ago

Pop, I promise not to go on a long winded rant. You summed it up very well. We need a very strong candidate that has a backbone made of steel.

Right now, Trump is the only man that is not easily intimidated.

I am very disappointed that the quiche has no crust. That's the best part. LOL

DJ.

That illegal individual who confessed to the murder of the young woman in San Francisco had been deported FIVE times previously. What will it take for our leaders (?) to strengthen our border and our immigration policy?

Good Morning DJ,

If anyone can stand up to the lunatics, it's Trump. He may be a blow hard in many ways, but he still is a breath of fresh air. See you at the Inn. I'll bring you a traditional quiche!

Good Morning dr,

It will take a tragedy like this that hits close to home for any single person who allowed this to happen. We are no longer a nation of laws. The fact that sanctuary cities even exist is unbelievable and unacceptable. See you at the Inn.

The only public figure I've heard that actually listened to Trump's tirade was Heroic Governor Rudy Giuliani. Every other business, talking head, and politician heard what they wanted to hear. Queen Hillary twisted Trump's comments and use them to indict the entire Republican Party.

Good Morning nicomp,

This vendetta against Trump is insane. He told the truth, but Americans prefer to be lied to. Ben Carson did speak out in Trump's defense and I admire him for that. See you at the Inn. I think I am going to order tacos. Is that PC?

In my world 'PC' is Personal Computer or Programmable Controller. Both go well with tacos.

I can only imagine what it would be like when the Good-0le-boy club in Washington tried to intimidate Donald in one of their backroom deals.

Unfortunately, that is what happens to those who are newly elected to office in Washington. The new guy or gal is informed that they go with the flow or nothing they propose will ever be approved in a vote.

It would be interesting to know just how many of the votes in congress are driven by intimidation, bribes, or outright threats.

That is why we need Donald or someone just like him to stop this practice.

nicomp profile image

nicomp 17 months ago from Ohio, USA

@Old Poolman, yep.

And we stop it by using the system, not burning down cities or limiting free speech or slandering the "vast right wing conspiracy."

Old Poolman profile image

Old Poolman 17 months ago from Rural Arizona

nicomp - Very true. However with voters who don't know who George Washington was, or who the current Vice President is, I think we are in trouble.

The dumbing down of America is perhaps the only government program that has been successful.

breakfastpop profile image

Dear Mike,

Washington is so corrupt that it is difficult to keep believing in America. Donald would be a tough guy in the midst of all the intimidation. I think we need him or someone as strong. See you at the Inn.

Dear Mike and Nicomp,

Let me jump in here. I hate to say it, but way too many Americans are completely clueless which explains Obama, Clinton, Pelosi, Reid, Sharpton and so many others. We are ripe for the picking. I am at the Inn waiting for both of you.

Old Poolman profile image

Well Patti, when all they have to do is offer a free cell phone to buy a vote we are pretty much done for. We can forget about educating the voters unless we can get some info onto the cartoon channel.

Good Morning Mike,

I keep trying to have faith in the American voter, but the sad truth is that an overwhelming number of Americans don't know a thing about our past, present or future. See you at the Inn.

Well, um, hmmm... how well informed was a typical voter in 1890? No radio, no Internet, travel only by horseback or train.

Good Morning nicomp,

At least they had an excuse!

Their excuse was working 12-hour days to stay alive. Too much free time and excess government largesse is the current excuse.

Dear nicomp,

Unemployment, food stamps, welfare and free phones really doesn't leave much time to pay attention to the outside world. I get it......
