Every so often, news items catch my attention because long ago I studied the Bible’s Book of Revelations and how the End Times would develop. Most scholars agree that in the Revelations, the “King of the North” is Russia and the “King of the South”, is America (also known as the daughter of Babylon or Mystery Babylon). Modern day Babylon is Great Britain.

Recent events since 2015, have been rapidly spiraling into more chaos and intensity with ISIS, North Korea, Iran and Russia. Russia seized the Crimea and NATO did nothing. Then, Putin sought to reclaim most of the Ukraine, settling for half of it, in essence. The two kings, Obama and Putin, are is in quiet faceoff in Eastern Europe. The U.S. has deployed more troops in Poland and Baltic, all now part of NATO. Putin, is being passive aggressive for now. But has openly stated Russia is preparing for war and has fired 50 top generals for refusing to confront NATO. Putin has declared, “the world is being pulled in an irreversible direction”. Russia’s Baltic fleet comprises of 50 ships and submarines.

The tie in with Bible prophecy is that over 2000 years ago, prophets saw how the King of the North attacking the King of the South in End Times. America is not identified outright in the Revelations because it did not exist when the prophets saw what was going to happen before Christ returned. But Babylon had existed. So, they referred to present day America as, Daughter of Babylon or Mystery Babylon, in descriptions. Like the old Babylon, the world idolized it for every reason and immigrants moved there. Like the old Babylon, which was destroyed, today’s Babylon, America, will be rendered useless in End Times. America’s haters today are pretty much: Russia, North Korea, Iran, China. The Revelations state America will be rendered powerless or ineffective and then invaded by its enemies.

I know, it sounds like a wacko talking! Impossible thinking that America the Great would collapse. Other, as great empires have fallen: Roman, Greek. I am sure Romans thought as Americans do now, how could this ever happen?

Think EMP.

The EMP Weapon

In 1962, the U.S. military exploded a nuclear weapon high above an atoll in the Pacific Ocean. The test, Operation Starfish Prime, was part of a larger project to evaluate the impacts of nuclear explosions in space. A missile was launched from Johnson Island, some 900 miles from Hawaii, and armed with a 1.4 megaton warhead. It exploded 240 miles above the earth. It worked. But, scientists were shocked at the magnitude of its generated electromagnetic pulse (EMP). Within seconds on Oahu, Hawaii, all kinds of electrical disturbances were reported ( 300 traffic lights stopped, interrupted phone service and set off alarms). Anything that required electricity, stopped. Stopped because the EMP overloaded circuits with surges of electricity. Wires and circuits were fried useless. People were not impacted at all. In fact, residents had no idea what had happened on an otherwise, normal, beautiful Hawaiian day! The detonation could be seen 1600 miles away in a brilliant white flash followed by red glowing clouds within 45 seconds. The after effects lasted 90 minutes. The blast caused three satellites to malfunction and months after, seven were rendered useless from damage.

In Russia, in the same year, the Soviet Union detonated a 300 kiloton thermonuclear warhead in space at an altitude of 180 miles over a point just west of the city of Zhezkazgan in central Kazakhstan. It knocked out a major 600-mile underground power line between two cities. It knocked out a major 570 kilometer long overhead telephone line. Radios were damaged 360 miles away and knocked out radar some 600 miles away. Most generators damaged.

The EMP weapon, even in its infancy, worked well, even though it was not considered a weapon then. Today, if just one of these 500 kiloton bomb was detonated 300 miles above the central United States, the economy of the country would be essentially destroyed instantaneously. Very little of the country's electrical or electronic infrastructure would still be functional. The electric power grid in use today has changed very little from the system devised by Nikola Tesla and implemented by Westinghouse, beginning in the 1890s! Recovery from an EMP attack is a few months to many years.

The consequences are catastrophic, and many people may ultimately die for lack of the basic elements necessary to sustain life in dense urban and suburban communities. EMP would create massive currents on power lines, which could then destroy electrical transformers and potentially impact power plants. It would knock out our telecommunications system, rendered our cars and computers without the ability to function, and took out our power grid. No communications could occur. About 99% of the U.S. military’s electricity comes from the vulnerable electric grid. The EMP pulse would disable all electronic devices and electrical infrastructure.

The King of the North Attacks

Putin is like a simmering volcano awaiting to erupt. He hates NATO encroaching on Russia’s borders. He wants to restore Russia to Great Russia, but the only way is to disable the USA. He vows to restore Russia to greatness at any cost, even if the Russian population suffers. North Korea is quickly developing its own missile technology and EMP ability. It has already threated to attack the USA or South Korea. Iran has plenty of missiles and continues to work toward a nuclear bomb despite the farce of the nuclear treaty between the USA and Iran. Iran continues to develop it, we all know it. China has them also.

An EMP attack can easily be done by Russia using submarines near the coast of the USA, and exploding it in the Nebraska-Kansas area. EMP would quickly engulf all the USA (maybe not Hawaii, Alaska). A 100 kiloton weapon optimized for gamma detonated 250 to 300 miles above Nebraska, might destroy just about every piece of unprotected electronic equipment in the continental United States, southern Canada and northern Mexico! Very likely to knock out 70 to 100% of the electrical grid in this very large area. Nearly all unprotected electronic communications systems would be knocked out. It could take three years to recover. The rocket doesn’t have to be accurate. It just has to go up 300 miles and explode. It’s within the capability of even an earlier Scud missile, of which thousands have been produced. It just has to have nuclear EMP weapon on top! This increases the danger from lesser adversaries.

According to some End Times experts, this could occur by January 2017, before a new US president takes office. I think this is unlikely, although, I can see the chaos Putin can cause. Some argue, the US defenses would destroy the incoming missile. True, but it’s carrying EMP and is supposed to explode! So, even if intercepted, the result may still occur depending on where it is intercepted. Chaos and reaction would be dire. As far as the prophecy indicating America being invaded, I simply cannot see this. I can see how Putin may use EMP, it only takes one missile.

Rendering the King of the South powerless remains part of the Bible prophecy. When, is the question. The how is solved.

King in the North and King in the South by planetary geography cannot be Russia and the United States. This is more akin to Game of Thrones. Interpretation of this "End of days" prophecy has been done to death. The most popular fabrication is that Russia is Magog and will align itself with the Middle East to conquer Israel. Tarsus the lion or Tarshish and her cubs, or cities, depending on your interpretation, in alignment with modern Saudi Arabia will choose to stay out of the fight. Nothing in these silly theories can put Russia and the U.S. at war.
