Southeast Bexar County Community Awareness: Transparency for Sylvia Ruiz Mendelsohn not an issue anymore

Just the Facts

The fact is that Ms. Mendelsohn took the ESD#6 from having a surplus, to being broke in less than 10 months after she was appointed Board President of ESD#6. Having no money left to pay the Volunteer Fire Departments and animosity towards the fire departments of Ata Bexar VFD and Sandy Oaks VFD, Ms. Mendelsohn used the guise that unfinished paperwork and uncertified fire fighters is what prompted her to shut down the VFD's.

It was shortly discovered, that like George Bush and no WMD's; Ms. Mendelsohn didn't have a leg to stand on; as her claims were proven to be false. The departments were re-instated and she began working at looking for other reasons to shut them down.

Fast forward to 2013, she has not one, but two lawsuits that the ESD#6 is involved in. One with Sandy Oaks VFD, and one with South Bexar Fire & Rescue, others pending with members of the community. Poor management of ESD#6, cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. While Ms. Mendelsohn and the ESD#6 board members, Robert Chavez and Loren Brewer (now on the Southside ISD School Board) were busy with their own personal agenda, they forgot to secure liens on South Bexar Fire and Rescue equipment provided by tax dollars. When Ms. Mendelsohn and her board chose to shut down the volunteer fire department and canceled their contracts, they were within their rights to recoup what loses they could and since their equipment was not liened, they sold it. Had Ms. Mendelsohn and her board been doing their "due diligence", they would have properly secured those items for ESD#6.

Ms. Mendelsohns' involvement with Gil Perez of Safe-D and ESD#2; began, at least as the ESD#6 is concerned in 2010 when Mr. Perez began trying to convince the members of Southeastern Bexar County that Ms. Mendelsohn was doing a good thing for the community and he had seen it first hand........

2013, Mr. Perez and Ms. Mendelsohn strike a deal. Ms. Mendelsohn gets rid of the three Southeast Bexar County Volunteer Fire Departments under ESD#6 and Mr. Perez brings in volunteer (paid) firefighters from ESD#2 into the area to fight fires.

While Ms. Mendelsohn struggled to pay the ESD#6 fire departs the $24,000 she owed them combined per month to stay in operation, she agreed to a contract with ESD#2 and promised them a little more money than what she was giving the ESD#6 departments, but records show that she gave them considerable more money than was agreed upon.

The firefighters for ESD#2 have taken much of a beating by community members for not knowing how to fight fires in the southeastern bexar county area, which is predominantly sand and brush. ESD#2 comes from Northwestern Bexar County; ESD#2 firefighters have been heard complaining about fighting fires in the area, Ms. Mendelsohn and the lack of funding they were promised. It has been said, that the certified fire fighters of ESD#2 are no longer fighting fires in Southeast Bexar County and that most are now training for certification. Leaving the Southeast Bexar County area with inadequate fire protection. It's time to ask Sylvia Mendelsohn some questions. One being, why are non-certified firefighters o.k. now?

Ask Sylvia Mendelsohn....

The people of Southeast Bexar county are asking many questions, but they may be asking the wrong people and the wrong questions.

The main question that should be asked-- is why?

Why did you all squander our tax dollars on a community center? This center has yet to be built, but was the backbone of the destruction of the volunteer fire departments in Southeast Bexar County. Ms. Mendelsohn and the board voted to accept a loan for over $6 million dollars to pay for this and would have community members paying back this money for over 40 years.

Why did you all shut down our volunteer fire departments? Was it personal? as Ms. Vargas said, because Ms. Mendelsohn didn't like the Metzger's at Sandy Oaks Volunteer Fire Depart and Mr. Farinacci at Ata-Bexar Volunteer Fire Department or because the money to pay the fire departments had been squandered; possibly both.

Why did you all take money from Chico Rodriguez and his brother Ciro Rodriguez? Ms. Mendelsohn took over $10,0000 from the two brothers to run campaigns for her "team". What was her agenda or better yet, what is the County Commissioners agenda and his brother Ciro Rodriguez, former Congressman.

The answers would probably fall in line with the same answers she's given the media since 2010 when it all began. Ms. Sylvia Ruiz Mendelsohn has never been transparent with the community of southeast Bexar County, she has always made comment to the media that "they" don't know what's good for them, but she does. Treating the southeast Bexar county residents like uneducated and mentally inadequate individuals. Yet, her biggest complaint is that one hit wonder; there is "no transparency". A line she uses with the media during most of her interviews.

What drives Sylvia Ruiz Mendelsohn to do what she does to her own community...

Sylvia Mendelsohn is known as an individual who demands and expects respect. But why? History has shown that Ms. Mendelsohn has run for political positions, has been appointed to political positions and has failed miserably at both of them. Lack of attendance once on the boards, lack of support to get elected.

Like her "team" members, Ms. Mendelsohn has multiple alias':

Sylvia Ruiz Mendelsohn; Sylvia R. Mendelsohn; Sylvia M. Ruiz; Sylvia Mendoza Ruiz and others as well. While Ms. Mendelsohn uses several variations of her name when conducting business, she also uses several addresses as her residential address. One would be lead to believe that she lived in her late husbands office because she uses that address as her residential address, along with a Hunters Point address and the address on 281 south, depending on the situation and which is more beneficial or non transparent.

While Ms. Mendelsohn was married to the late Leslie Mendelsohn, a prominent in his own right, attorney, she was simply just the third Ms. Mendelsohn. She owns and always has according to records owned and amassed property from her family in Southeast Bexar County, but Ms. Mendelsohn according to records, resided in Northern Bexar County, records even show her sharing an address with County Commissioner Chico Rodriguez.

Ms. Mendelsohn has tried her hand at running several business and they too have failed; the fact remains that Ms. Mendelsohn did not believe in paying her fair share in taxes and remained delinquent in all her taxes until it was brought to light when she became a member of the ESD#6 board. Ms. Mendelsohn has had several liens for not wanting to pay for services as well. Is this because she believes she is above the law?

Ms. Mendelsohn's biggest complaint is lack of transparency. Those in the Southeastern portion of Bexar County deserve to know who is making decisions for them, especially since Ms. Mendelsohn believes "they don't know what's good for them".

Should Mendelsohn be allowed to stay on the ESD6 board?
