Fact Checking As Requested...

Just Like Your Crazy Uncle Huh?

Biden Asks For A Fact Check So Here Ya Go

If anyone bothered to fact check the Democratic National Convention speakers from Bill Clinton on down you're probably still diligently at it since there was so much useless information being passed off as factual. They bested the Republicans in this area for sure. Listening to Joe Biden is akin to listening to your Crazy Uncle Joe and most of us know to tune him out at any gathering. It is said he gave one of the better speeches there but that wouldn't be saying a whole lot about the speeches.

As anyone who fact checks this administration knows, anytime Medicare is mentioned by this crew you need to sift through it. Last week Biden made some rather misleading allegations, as usual, about the Romney-Ryan Medicare reform plan among other issues at the convention. In other words, Crazy Uncle Joe was dealing the Mediscare card off the bottom of the deck again for Team Obama. Specifically what he said in his convention speech was their plan would "cut benefits immediately for 30 million seniors already collecting Medicare." You scared yet? Don't be because it isn't true this time either. There isn't a word of truth in any of it as it applies to anyone presently 54 and older. Then up at a rally in Ohio he told the press to "fact check" him. So guess what happened? They did and did it thoroughly.

Campaign politics being what it is the Romney campaign released the results of Biden's claims concerning the tax and Medicare plans with a dab of fact checking on Biden's claims about Romney shipping jobs overseas. That charge is ridiculous to say the least in light of the stimululus money these boobs sent overseas to green jobs not in this country. Obama has been shipping our dollars overseas to China in the form of debt and OPEC in the form of oil revenue rather than using our own resources and at the same time creating needed jobs.

With unemployment remaining above 8% with the latest weak jobs report, the national debt soaring above $16 trillion on the day the Dems started their gum beating, the labor participation rate hitting an all time three decade low, the medium household income declining by $4,300 a year and gas prices which began at $1.78 when this administration took office hitting an average of $3.83 a gallon it is obvious why Team Obama wants to talk about anything and everything but their failed record. Along the way making false or misleading statements that their sheeple consume like it's all true.

We keep hearing about these 4.5 miilion jobs Team Obama has created? First, ask yourself if the federal government really creates jobs. It doesn't. What Cazy Uncle Joe stated again was a familiar refrain and it goes like this, "after the worst job loss since the Great Depression we created 4.5 million private sector jobs in the past 29 months." Here's what fact checkers point out. That number, first of all, excludes the number of jobs lost by Team Obama . The cover up is that the statement doesn't say that overall unemployment has increased during the period in question. It's a matter of massaging the numbers to make them look good. Ask the 23 million Americans who are unemployed or underemployed how that massage feels to them. The only way the BLS has gotten any movement downward is to lower the labor participation rate. That should tell you how honest Team Obama is about their job creation failure. Again, the federal government doesn't create jobs, they create misery.

Hasn't Been This High Since The Carter Years

One of the fallacies the Associated Press (AP) pointed out is that in Obama's speech that he is going to use the money saved by ending the wars to build highways, bridges and schools. Really? What the question centers around is that pile of money that doesn't exist because the wars are financed using borrowed money. Team Obama has been financing their flights of fancy now for 4 years using smoke and mirrors economics. Why do you think he has increased the national debt by $5.4 trillion (and counting) in less than 4 years. He made history with that feat and now he doesn't want to talk about it? Please...

A comparison of the actual real time debt clock against the 2016 debt clock gives you a better picture of the type of debt Obama plans on racking up. Not a pretty picture for our kids and their kids and their kids...

FactCheck.org listed 8 spins by Team Obama in their speeches. For those of us who read we knew when the silver tongues were flashing. First up is Obama's claim that "independent experts" say his economic plan (didn't really know he has one actually) will cut 4 trillion out of the deficit over 10 years. Another analyst states that it appears that way because of accounting gimmicks. Our feds are famous for those types of gimmicks. The lay person calls it smoke and mirrors economics.

Another whooper concerns General Motors, also affectionately known now as Government Motors. Obama claims they're #1 in the world again. Whoops! Wrong! They've slipped back to #2. Sales projections have them sliding in at the end of the year at #3 behind Toyota and Volkswagen. A recent analysis of the company seems to indicate that GM has one foot on the bankruptcy banana peel again. He also failed to mention that the bailout hurt a lot of investors and pension holders, beside the union pensions it was meant to protect, in the process.

Biden scare time next. Did you know that Mitt Romney plans on raising taxes on the middle class by $2,000.00? There isn't a word of truth in that one because Romney's tax plan calls for lowering the taxes on the middle class.

You can read more at FactCheck.org which seems to be an honest broker in checking facts by both sides of the aisle. I'm sure you get the picture if you are paying attention.

Yes, The Choice Should Be Clear!

With Team Obama you have to check even the little things. The tendency of a pathological liar is to let it all rip and hope that some of it sticks. Over the course of the past four plus years, including his last campaign, you would think we had heard it all by now. But we haven't unfortunately. Why don't we settle down now and take a look at this administrations record based upon what Obama said he was capable of doing and was going to do. Is it a pretty picture? Of course it isn't because most politicians run on their record and Team Obama can't.

Let me leave you with an outright lie Obama presented to this nation concerning Obamacare. He knew it was a lie when he said it. The fact that it was a bald faced lie has been affirmed. Take a look and then think about Obama if you still believe one word the guy says.

Of Course He Won't Raise Your Taxes..."Not In Any Way Shape Or Form"

Have a great week! 57 days until Team Obama suffers the same fate as Team Carter did. I know Jimmie Carter is relieved that he won't be seen as the worst, inept, incompetent President in history.

As concerned citizens and voters I encourage you to read, research and fact check what you hear and see. Your eyes usually won't lie but a politician's lips will.

As Always,

The Frog Prince

The basic fact is GOP policies of deregulation, war making and giving away money to the wealthiest American dug us a deep recession hole that we are still slowly crawling out of - the question is how much worse off would be right now if McCain/Palin were elected and the economy fell into a full blown depression.

Some people believe that all this lying is just politics as usual. I think it is treasonous. The American people are being fed garbage dressed up as truth so that they will go to the polls and behave like puppets on a string. We deserve better and it is about time we demanded it. We need to jump all over the press and make them accountable for being willing accomplices in this dangerous game. Up and awesome.

peanutroaster - The basic facts are that both parties full of corrupt politicians have taken turns getting us into this mess. Don't Democrat talking point me because I don't buy into any of it. Congress was in Democartic hands from Janauary of 2007 until January of 2011. Take your flipping blinders off and wake up now son.

Try refuting what I wrote here rather than show an extreme amount of partisanship to the readers.

Hey peanutroaster - I hhave a couple of question since you want to point the finger in the wrong direction?

1) Wasn't it the Obama Administration that declared the recession over in Augusut of 2009? Fact check it peanut.

2) Wasn't it the summer of 2010 (June 17th to be exact) when Obama declared it The Summer of Recovery? What happened? Fact check that too peanut.

3) Did you know that 10,000 of the 96,000 jobs created in August of 1012 were striking union labor returning to work? Fact check that while you're checking peanut.

They let you people up there in New Hampshire read anything but the Pablum Press?

Great hub and it will be interesting to see if Romney will point out these errors in his ads and debates.

The culprit of this depression was the democrats under Bill Clinton and their desire to have everyone in America be a homeowner. So the real problem started in 1999, and the housing boom started to grow. This became another version of the dot com bubble schemes.

This time it was Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae that started blowing the bubble. Now it is true that president Bush didn't do anything to stop the bubble, and the Federal Reserve kept the interest rate at the 1950s low. Had the interest rate gone up measurably during the Bush presidency the bubble would have burst sooner. The housing market like the dot com was pure greed, this time instead of chasing the Internet stocks were trying to buy homes that kept significantly increasing in price.

You know the rest of the story.

BTW, why aren't more people afraid that under some circumstances that Uncle Joe could become President Joe. Do even the liberals really like that idea?

peanutroaster - I think you may have missed the whole point of this hub. The hub was about fact-checking to sort the truth out of all the BS we all see and hear everyday during election years. Yet in your comment you failed to cite or provide even one fact. Your comment appears to be just one more guy rooting for his team and repeating things he has heard from others who support that team. You need to really look at some facts before you form firm opinions on most anything.

Never forget the fact that the Democrats controlled the Congress for four straight years up to the 2010 mid-terms. All we got from it was spend, spend, spend and now they cry "foul" that the reason they were not able to accomplish anything is that the bunch of conservatives who showed up after the 2010 elections shut everything down....outright lies coupled with the fact that Obama refuses to compromise on anything and Harry Reid has his marching orders to shut down operations in the Senate. It is absolutely amazing to me that we human beings are given the ability to see, feel, and reasoning yet those who blindly follow Obama will not take the time to do any of that on their own. The reality of America today is that we can no longer kick the can down the road and provide for everyone who has a paper cut or a hang-nail. They reality is that we are not going to do away with our Constitution and our laws so our freedoms and liberties can be taken away at will. Our nation is in the hands of socialist and communist sympathizers, if not card-carrying members at this point. Still, we have those who want to do the same thing that was done to Senator Joe McCarthy....ignore the problem and paint old Joe a nut. The facts show that he was not. The old adage, "The truth will set you free" is a good one to subscribe to. The truth may not always be what pleases one but knowing that it is the truth at least brings the comfort of know that they truth still exists. The onus is on the person buying the explanation..."Let the buyer beware" and too many on Obama's side of the line just swallow whatever is served up because they judge everything on "intent" rather than "desired outcome". God must be disappointed about now as to how many of the brains he handed out are not in use. ~ WB

There are a hell of a lot of angry white women who count too you know. We're the ones who can't afford groceries - we're the ones in charge of the household and its expenses. (I'm not disrespecting men who do the same stuff.) We're the ones running to school, hockey games, soccer and invading our retirement funds to put gas in the car.

Don't think for one minute that this b.s. the Dems are throwing out there TELLING US the Republicans hate women. Why? Because some 31 y.o. professional student can't get birth control pills?

And she became an expert when?

I think you'd be surprised by the number of Blacks that can't stand Obama and his policies. The only women who like him are the ones living off "the system." They're ENTITLED!

Okay - I'm giving up now.

Frog - When you can't run on your record, attack the other guy.

Peanut - "The basic fact is GOP policies of deregulation, war making and giving away money to the wealthiest American dug us a deep recession hole that we are still slowly crawling out of" - Deregulation increases business and jobs (regulations merely make it more expensive to operate, depressing the investment necessary to create jobs and encourgaes capital flight and offshoring of jobs). Obama has speant TRILLIONS on toppling secular dictators, who I admit are repressive and corrupt, but they are always replaced by something worse (radical Shiite regimes loyal to Iran). Tax loopholes have been a feature of both parties for generations. Also, the "1%" are NOT undertaxed. I know they make alot of money that is taxed at 15% (capital gains and dividends), but these gains are taxed TWICE (first at the corporate level at about 35%, one of the highest business tax rates in the world, and then again at the personal level on constructive receipt at 15%). The "1%" actually pay an effective 50% tax rate (capital gains and dividends are severely depressed by the corporate 35% tax, and then the remainder is taxed AGAIN at 15%). As proof, according to the IRS, the top 1% pays 50% of all taxes. Other studies show the top 1% only makes 20% of national earnings. The bottom 50% pay only 3% of all taxes, but they make 13% of all income. The system IS unfair, but it is the 99% who are benefitting from it, not the 1%. Since use of government services does not generally vary by income (except for entitlements, which all go to the bottom 50% anyway), a flat VAT or national sales tax would be much fairer than the progressive income tax. Also, non-uniform tax rates violate the Constitution, making the current progressive income tax illegal.

I think I'm coming around to your way of thinking. Women should be paid less than men. Its so sad that corporations are not allowed to pollute as much as they'd like. It's terrible that Wall St. can't gamble with the world's economy as much as they want.

And those poor rich guys. I mean like of all the pool boys and shoe shiners they could hire if they just had enough money to afford the third vacation home. Those needy poor people and middle class people. Why don't they just get off their lazy butts and get a job already?

Women should thank old white men for having control over their bodies. I mean after all, Ann Romney said that she loves women. And Mitt says that corporations are people. That's enough for me.

Wizard Of Whimsy profile image

Froggy will censor that—you're too ironically funny PR!

Stu 4 years ago

Wizard - wanna bet?

Peanut - Women should NOT be paid less than men for equal work. The issue is that the work is often not "equal" (men don't take maternity leave, men work in high paying risky jobs that are often not performed by women, etc.). I agree pollution is a serious problem, but it's a balance - policy has to consider the trade-offs between enivironment and the economy and reflect real science (not emotion). I agree much Wall Street behavior IS atrocious, and the criminals should be punished, NOT BAILED OUT BY THE TAXPAYER.

Other than those who inherited money, the rich work VERY hard, often putting in 100+ hour work weeks. And why begrudge a person from becoming rich as long as he/she is really earning the money according to genuine results. People who own very successful businesses, or are paid alot as employees who generate significant shareowner value, deserve the fat reward. If you owned a business with an intrinsic enterprise value of say $10 billion (i.e., the amount you might be able to sell it for) and the CEO was getting $1 million per year, would you keep him, or hire the guy who demands $50 million per year but can elevate your businesses' value to $100 billion. The $50 million guy is a BARGAIN.

In a sense, corporations ARE people. Keep in mind that corporations employ collections of employees who represent the interests of the shareholders. As such, they have a fiduciary obligation to maximize shareowner value. This, for example, means they need freedom of speech in order to fulfill this fiduciary obligation (e.g., participating in the public arena of thought, having the right to file lawsuits where appropriate, etc.). Certainly you would agree the the owner of a sole proprietorship is a person. A corporation is no different, except "owner" is "owners", and management speaks for the owners (other than major owners like mutual funds and the super-wealthy). If management could not speak for the shareowners, then stockholders, who are natural people, would be denied their First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and redress of grievances.

I try really hard to find things this administration is proud of that are really creditable, but can't seem to find any. Obama takes credit for snuffing Bin Lauden, but it was really a Seal Team who did the work and lots of support people who assisted in this effort. If you have a list of accomplishments from this administration I would sure like to see it. Perhaps you have something I am unaware of.

Wayne - Stellar reporting of the pure, unadulterated truth, yet again. It appears you have ticked off some of the more liberal among us. Truth does that.

Peanut - Do you realize that the number thrown about for unemployment, 8+ percent, has been manipulated by the current administration? Now, I'm not saying the other side hasn't done it too. But, right now, we have to deal with the present. The actual number is 11.7% when you add in all the long term unemployed that he took out of the group reported.

Further, I take serious objection to you stating "You need a whole lot more of angry white men to defeat Obama." Do you have any idea what a racist statement that is? How it stereotypes all persons who do not agree with you? What about all the black people that do not support him? What about me? Mostly Native American here.

You go off about the rights of women. HELLO! I am one. I don't see in any way where he has helped my gender. Obamacare does not do that. Birth control is cheap and is being used as a tool to create further division. Here's an issue that really affects us girls. How about the millions of dollars of our tax money he gave to the Muslim Brotherhood? You are familiar with them I would assume. They instigate the rape of women, the torture of women, the forced marriages of children, the subjugation of over half the population of the planet under the tenets of their faith which they have instituted as law. What about the honor killings? You do realize this is now going on in America? If you want to do some fact checking, check the number of 9-14 year old Muslim girls, IN THIS COUNTRY, that are withdrawn from school so they can then be married off. ANY POLITICIAN WHO SUPPORTS THIS GROUP DOES NOT GET NOR WILL EVER GET MY SUPPORT. PERIOD.

peanutroaster, "The problem in America is not people that work for a living, it is people that vote for a living".

Just a few of the facts about the GOP leader that caused all of the problems in America. George W. Bush! Remember......

He broke Obama's promise, to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.

He broke Obama's promise, to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.

He broke Obama's promise, to end earmarks.

He broke Obama's promise, to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.

He broke Obama's promise, to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year.

He broke Obama's promise, to make peace with direct, no precondi tion talks with America 's most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office, ushering in a new era of global cooperation.

He broke Obama's promise, to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs.

He broke Obama's promise, to end no-compete contracts with the government.

He broke Obama's promise, to disclose the names of all attendees at closed White House meetings.

He broke Obama's promise, for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters.

He broke Obama's promise, to have chosen a home church to attend Sunday services with his family by Easter.

If only George Bush wasn't still in charge, all of President Obama 's problems would be solved.

Your facts, my facts, your opinion, my opinion - these are not the same animals. Some information is speculative, some opinion - but facts are facts and everyone's facts cannot be accurate. Contradictions of fact require that one fact must be wrong. Everyone needs to find the facts of any issue for themselves. Reading source documents, and seeing original video of someone speaking are how we know who actually said and did what. We have learned on both sides of the fence that most of MSM is slanted to the left, and most radio is slanted to the right. Over time and much reading, we do find one or two sources we come to trust when we find that they tell the truth consistently.

Why would anyone spend endless hours each day - or hire others to spend endless hours each day - checking out facts for you? It is worth their time and money to give you accurate facts on most of the inconsequential questions sent in to them? They are investing their money in their readers for a calculated future outcome. It is a means to a calculated end. They build up trust in you, so they can feed you a twisted answer, or even an outright lie when it is politically important to them. All of the fact finding organizations have been caught in this activity. They invested their time and money in your perception of what they want you to believe.

One of our greatest problems in the battle between what we conservatives believe to be the battle between good and evil, is the problem of the willfully ignorant and lazy mind. Sometimes, we are literally talking to the walls.

peanutroaster: I had an $80,000 per year trucking job in Colorado the day Obama was elected, hauling water in the gasfield drilling boom. Had McCain/Palin been elected it would have been Drill, Baby, Drill, and our 60-truck company could have been expected to become a 120-truck company by now with me owning my own mini-fleet (1 to 3 trucks) and leasing to them as a subcontractor. Had it gone that way, my net take (after expenses but before taxes) was projected in the range of $320,000 to $460,000 annually.

Instead, my job was Obamified within weeks of his inauguration. With Obama hammering the energy industry in favor of green, green, corruption machine, my employer had to go into survival mode. I wasn't fired (being one of their top hands) but did lose 12 hours per week of straight $34.50 overtime, enough to starve us out if we stayed.

Been out of a job since, finally gave up and went to writing full time. So count me as one of the no-longer-a-statistic guys who are off the "unemployed" rolls simply because I'm no longer looking for work. Don't believe in pounding sand down a rathole.

As for my employer, the finest company I EVER worked for, they're still around--but with HALF the power units they had when I left.

That's right. What SHOULD have been 120 trucks as of today is a fleet of 30. So from MY perspective, Obama's policies have cut what COULD have been by 3/4.

Not really impressed with that.

First off personal attacks don't win arguments. What a bizarre bunch here who attack someone's state or username as some way of showing their intelligence. Adults?

As far a Bin Laden being dead. The Commander in Chief and his staff are the ones who put the plans in motion and make the decisions to use assets such as drones or Seal Teams. As W would say "I am the decider". A Seal Team doesn't decide where, when or what their missions will be. Trying whittle away and American victory against terrorism is rather ridiculous.

The GOP seems to be entering panic mode now. Fundraising is slowing down, polls are dropping and insiders are pointing fingers. Words are just not making up for actual actions.

And can we once be truthful about the myth of Reagan? Reagan raised taxes 11 times in his presidency. And it worked to turn around a recession.

Ghost32 - I don't understand . Your job of driving a truck is so specialized that you can only drive a water truck? Or is it that you are looking to the govt. for a job? Pardon my ignorance but I though that truck drivers could haul what they want.

peanut - Your statement that the GOP seems to be entering panic stage is hilarious. Obama has been in panic mode for sometime because he knows he is a failed President. So he became The Great Divider. Now here we were thinking he was going to become The Great Uniter. Fact check Obama from the 2008 campaign until present and then tell anyone about panic. He's a fraud and you koolaid kiddies keep drinking. How stupid can people get?

With such a bad economy you'd think a strong GOP candidate would be a shoe in. But no amount of Obama bashing can make up for such a poor ticket as Romney/Ryan.

Mark Halperin say Romney "faces the immediate threat of both quiet and loud we-told-you-so's from Republicans who last year had the very worries they fear are being manifested now. Romney is an awkward, unlikable candidate.... Until Romney breaks this cycle, he is in danger of living out the Haley Barbour dictum: in politics, bad gets worse."

Halperin added that GOP donors may even start investing less in the presidential race and more in congressional contests if they perceive Romney as a likely loser.

peanutroaster - you certainly are correct that it was the Commander in Chief who issued the order to take out Bin Laden, and it was the right thing to do in my opinion. The part I disagree with is how he took full credit for this action but gave little or no credit to those brave people who actually carried out the mission. His speech included the "I" word almost exclusively. Yes, the Seal Team was doing what they are paid to do, but they also took the major personal risks. Obama was also doing what he is paid to do, nothing more. A little credit for the Seal Teams efforts would have gone a long way toward making Obama appear to be a bigger person. His speech would make one believe he strapped on a six shooter and did the job himself.

No amount of Reagan bashing stopped the landslide when he swept the last failed President from office. Somehow I don't have you being old enough peanut to remember Reagan, if you were alive at all. Many of us here were and remember him well. Carter was up in the polls at this point in the election cycle too and what happened?

We'll see just how the public's mood swings as we approach the election. If Obama was so great, and not a failure, the polls would show that too. They don't.

All you koolaid swillers just drink your juice and let the rest of us have an adult conversation. Did you notice the title and content of the writing here. Would you like to refute anything said here in the article? Did you look at the national debt clocks. Are you aware that real employmn figure show 23 million Americans out of work or under employed. Are you aware that the median household income has gone down by $4,300.00 since Obama took office? If not then I suggest start reading something besides the Huff & Puff. One of my rules, and I don't have many really, is to stay on topic. The topic here isn't for lefties to spout Democratic talking points. If anyone wants that they can tune in like you do to MSNBC. Many of us would rather watch cartoons than do that.

According to Obama the recession was over in August of 2009. So what bad economy are you talking about? You seem to believe everything else the Liar-In-Chief says so why not that?

Every soldier takes personal risks. Its the job the signed up to do. They don't do it to get credit. They do it to serve their country. Our job is to take care of them, to make sure they are not sent in harms why without a good reason and to take care of them when they get home. The Obamas have proven that they care for the military and their families with their actions and deeds.

peanutroaster profile image

You don't need to believe anything someone says, you just have to look at the numbers. Clinton - surplus. W freefall economy and two unpaid wars. The track record of the GOP is spend despite any words.

Now Romney wants to boost up the military war chest so he can start a few more wars in Iran, Syria and who knows where else. Its basically fear politics. Get everyone up in arms about crushing debt, enemies at the gates, loose morals and a decline in America.

What kind of patriot talks about their country as declining all the time?

The Frog Prince profile image

The Frog Prince 4 years ago from Arlington, TX Author

Here we go with the Clinton surplus crap. That's a myth. You evidently believe in myths. The real situation, if you bother to research, is there was a budget surplus. That has nothing to do with the national debt peanut. The reason he had a budget surplus was that he had a Republican Congress. Do you understand what the different branches of our government are responsible for? If not, read the US Constituion. Since Obama took office the US Senate has not passed a budget - not one. Has Obama done anything about that? No he has not and he won't because the Dems don't want one. It allows them to spend like a drunken sailor on shore leave. He has done that for sure.

Now I repeat, for your benefit only peanut, stay on topic. Obama is no Clinton. That was a desperation move if I ever saw one in politics, speaking of panicing.

34th BG - You know my background so when I say this I have some knowledge about it. The military does not think highly of the likes of Obama. The majority of them see him for the fraud he is. We felt the same way about Bill Clinton. You have to earn respect, even in the military.

How could they, FP? Obama undermines them every chance he gets. A recent example is bin Laden's death: "me." "I," etc. Took him awhile to acknowledge that HE wasn't the one who dropped into that compound in the night to get the job done. There also reports that HE did not make the decision. I don't think the guy could make a decision if his life depended on it.

The Frog Prince profile image

34th - Panetta gave the order. Obama was frozen again with Jarrett against him giving the order. That's the way it seems to be. Anybody sitting in that position would have given the order. Jarrett had stopped the order on three previous occasions. Notice in the picture who is not present.

Then I have to address the Clinton myth and give a link. More analysis can be found by Googling "Clinton Surplus Myth." That seems to be one of the standard Dem talking points which has no merit.

http://www.craigsteiner.us/articles/16

During my career I served under many Commander-In-Chiefs and performed many missions. Two stand out as not having the respect of the military - Jimmie Carter and Bill Clinton. Both for obvious reasons if you just open your eyes. Now there is Obama. Seems that a timely topic right now is to make sure our service members have their votes counted on time this time. The 2008 election was a fiasco.

No one got burned. The economy was saved from free fall. Car industry was saved. First major healthcare reform, in what, 25 years? Foreign relations fixed. Now I don't have try to hide the fact that I'm an American when I travel to Europe. Iraq mopped up, Bin Laden dunked. Drones taking out enemy (another one yesterday). Personally I've been enjoying all of the perks of the recovery - home buying rebate, energy savings home improvement rebate, job raise, stock market return. I just worry about this long term decline of the middle class which is what will make us more like the Congo.

Now if you'd like to go up and maybe actually read this Hub, go and research whether anything I p[ointed out is false and then come back with your information and sources it will be appreciated.

'President Barack Obama won't meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of September's U.N. General Assembly in New York, a spokesman confirmed Tuesday after Israel's Haaretz newspaper reported that the White House had turned down a request for talks. But it's not a snub, the aide said. It's due to Obama's busy election-year schedule.'

As it turns out this is not the first time Obama has refused to meet with this Israeli leader. Now how are his supporters going to explain this away. Is the man a god? Apparently to some, America does not offend Israel!

His refusal to meet with Netanyahu pretty much sums up his real feelings about Israel. Actions always speak louder than words, especially when it comes to Obama. Sadly, there is nothing we can do about it until election day.

I could not agree more with 34th Bomb Group and Pollyannalana that this President's treatment of Israel is a national disgrace. What does that speak to the world about us? That we are a great frenemy? (Forgive the girl speak, please). This President has repeatedly and on recorded film insulted our allies while apologizing to those who have opposed us and still do.

I would like to return to the Bin Laden issue for a moment. While I agree it is most reprehensible that the dictator in chief assumes all credit for his majesty, I feel the bigger issue is how he sold out the team later. He literally put their and their families lives in further jeopardy knowing that was what he was doing when he did it.

Further, if we are going to talk about selling out your own team, how about the recent DNC? We all saw the footage of them removing God and then reinserting. When the floor voted by yelling out, all three times they were tied. I watched it myself. Yet, half the supporters, the loyal hardworking party members not only were not heard, they were totally ignored and run right over. Just because his majesty was not on stage doesn't mean he wasn't lurking in the shadows. First he tries to throw God out of the platform and then sells out his own guys to try to be sure not offend anyone that might not yet be decided so he slips it back in.

Now, that's not to say both parties don't engage in bad things. But this guy, this current supposed leader of OUR nation who has been photographed not saluting the flag while all others around him were more times than I have been photographed since leaving childhood far behind, has thrown his own family members under the bus. What makes anyone in existence be able to honestly NOT suspect he would with a smile on his face throw us all under self same bus?

Old Poolman - I'm not sure, but I suspect it goes something like this. America is desperate. Many are so devoid of hope that when a charismatic, intelligent, somewhat suave guy came along, they fell hook line and sinker. See, he goes after the heartstrings. He says what those who are afraid want to hear. The earth will be saved. You will be saved. If we all just work together we can fix the corporate, the environmental, the racial problems we face. It sounds great! Then his team of top notch spinners twist the numbers into something that looks like he's pulling it off.

Sadly while so many of us have lost hope, many of us have also lost our work ethic in regards to policing our leaders. We became conditioned to the media doing it for us. We all know who owns TV media now and that's the biggest source. Many are just so tired and overworked trying to keep food on the table they literally don't have time to research more than a quick browse through the headlines or sadly, sound bytes. When those two things combined, the masses became easy pickings for a slick talking deceiver in a nice suit that looked like the underdog. America has always loved to root for the underdog. Sadly for us, this dog is a rouge cur. Just my thoughts on it.

poetvix, My two daughters, both in their 50's, know little if anything about what is going on in Politics these days. They fit the person you described who is so tired and exhausted just trying to pay the bills and keep food on the table, they have no time to watch the news. They occasionally tell me some wild story they got from an equally uninformed co-worker, and believe every word of it. That may be exactly what is going on with so many today. I wrote a hub on "Be careful what you hear." You no doubt remember the famous "Peggy" who after listening to a speech by Obama declared that she "Would no longer have to worry about her mortgage payment or buying gas for her car." That wasn't in the speech, but that is what she heard. We all have worries and problems, and if that Politician says the right words we all hear what we want to hear. Then when the media puts their spin on what was said it really gets distorted. So many have no clue as to what is really going on they are stuck in the "Hope and Change" mode, like some hippies are still stuck in the 50's. When they talk about higher taxes for the wealthy we brush it off because most of us aren't wealthy. We assume that if they tax the rich more, they will tax us less, but that is far from true. I guess we humans are just odd critters when you get right down to it.
