Tim Yap, the person who made the tweet is a celebrity in the Philippines so his tweets have a wide distribution. This has caused a lot of people to believe that Morales did win the lottery when the truth is he was merely the reporter who broke the news that the 6/55 Grand Lotto Jackpot had been won.

Just hours after Tim Yap made the tweet, Morales reportedly started receiving hundreds of friends requests on his Facebook account. A stream of congratulatory messages also flooded his message inbox. Friends and family started calling him on his cellphone to confirm if he indeed won the lottery jackpot.

Morales tried containing the situation before it gets out of hand but a lot of people still believe that he won. Clarifications had been posted on the Inquirer's Twitter account and Tim Yap also corrected his false tweet but a lot of people aren't buying them. In fact someone had set up a Facebook Fan Page in Miko Morales' name which contains posts advising Morales on how and where he should spend the millions of pesos he won.

The 6/55 Grand Lotto jackpot which was worth 741 million pesos was the biggest pot ever won in the history of the Philippine lottery. The 6/55 Grand Lotto was started on the 2nd quarter of this year 2010 and it has been won only twice including the most recent winner of the 741 million jackpot.
