Freedom of Expression or Freedom of Abusing?

Freedom of Expression?
Freedom of Expression?

Most of the people like to express themselves in this or that way. Writers express themselves by writing articles, books, fictions etc. Many readers express themselves by writing letters to the editor of newspapers and magazines.

Now internet have given a big and easy to use platform to everybody who want to express himself. The easiest place for common people to express on internet is Social Network Sites. Another way for common people is to comment on articles published at online newspapers, magazines, blogs and websites.

Freedom of expression is not a new thing in the world. People are expressing themselves from ancient time through various mediums, including speeches, writings, art, dramas etc.

But many people have forgotten that the right of expressing was never absolute in any state in the world. No civilized society can give you the full rights of expressing yourself. If the right of expression conflicts with other rights, if the expression is harmful, offensive, destructive, malicious, how can we justify it? That is why every country has limited the right freedom of expression by making laws.

Misuese of the Right

Many people are misusing this freedom of expression. Just go to any social networking site, and have a look on the wall posts and comments on them. You will find a lot of wall posts with hatred, intolerance, bias and such things. You will find abusive photographs of politicians posted by the people who hate that specific politicians.

If a writer writes an article with his balanced views, then also many readers express their intolerant views just because the article is against their own views.

Many people can not think rationally because they are brainwashed by politicians, clergies, religions and society. Such people have developed intolerance in their minds, so when they use freedom of expression, they express in an uncivilized way. Many people are immature and they do not know polite way of commenting.

Abusing is a Crime

Abusing is definitely a crime and we should not permit to abuse in the name of freedom of expression in any condition. So we should be against such type of so called freedom of expression. We should never support expressing hatred against communities, linguistic groups, religions, races, nationals etc.

We should always welcome fair criticism, but not abusing.

The dangers of state censorship far, far outweigh the annoyance of rednecks and fools. In Canada we have laws against racial hate literature, child pornography, and--probably--literature advocating violent armed overthrow of government. Other than those, the dolts, madmen, and religious nutbars among us are free to promulgate their bullshit to their hearts' content. Thank God.

Maybe you could create the comment police and arrest people for being verbally ugly . . . or you could just I don't know . . . deny their comments.

Doesn't everyone have the right to show their ignorance to the world?

This is an excellent article. However, when expressing an opinion and/or making commentary, one must be quite judicious as there is a very fine line between being expressive and abusive. One must be always vigilant in that regard! However, this issue can be a metter of opinion. What is one person's expressiveness can be interpreted as being abusive by a more sensitive person!
