The Lady is Bugged

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, May 4, 2015. Our petite friend, Lady, is at the breakfast table this morning. She is completely repulsed by a social media challenge called Stomp the U.S. Flag. Lady has asked for the pleasure of your company this morning. She is preparing scrambled eggs and mini croissants. I will be serving Irish coffees, emphasis on the Irish. We hope to see you soon.

The Destroyers

Thank you for joining me this morning. I started my day off on the wrong foot. I flipped on the television and was horrified to see a Valdosta, Georgia college student stomping on the American flag. She was doing so, along with other misguided losers, to show solidarity with Eric Sheppard, a New Black Panther Party member and student from VSU. Sheppard is wanted by the police, accused of bringing a gun to campus on April 21. He and other students walked on the American flag on April 17. Their disgusting behavior ignited a firestorm on campus. Thus far, police have not been able to locate Sheppard. In the meantime, he is amassing a group of supporters who are stomping on flags and trying to raise money for bail, if and when he is apprehended. A website has been established for people to donate money. The police are referred to as "pigs" on the site. Something is terribly wrong in America and all the creeps are coming out of the woodwork. Hopefully, the police will find and arrest Sheppard. I suggest that they find and arrest the flag desecraters, as well.

Leading By Bad Example

Treating our flag badly is not the sole province of college students who haven't a clue about our history and the importance of the flag. First Lady Michelle Obama showed complete disrespect for the American flag in 2011 at a ceremony held in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. Michelle watched as police and firefighters folded the flag to the sound of marching bagpipers. With a horrible expression on her face she whispered to her husband the words" "all this just for a flag." Clearly, the president seemed to be in complete agreement. with his wife. Neither the President or Michelle have the respect for the flag expected of people in their position. They seem to harbor similar feelings toward America and the American people. It must be in their DNA.

Torn Apart

An ugly picture of our nation is emerging day after day. Our cities are being torn apart by idiots who probably can't articulate what their grievances are. Our justice system is caving in to mob rule. The six officers in Baltimore are going to be found guilty even if they are innocent. The Al Sharptons of the world are salivating at the moment. This is the world they have been envisioning all along. Sharpton will prevail upon his new best friend Obama to nationalize the police and hang cameras off their heads. Our police force has been demoralized and although many have come to their defense, it isn't enough. Sane minds can't prevail in this climate. There has been a breakdown of law and order and our society is being run by dangerous, lawless morons. Some of those fools are on our college campuses. I hope the taxpayers are not funding their educations. I would like to see the flag stompers kicked out of school. Better yet, I would like to see them kicked out of the country, they so despise. From President Obama, Michelle Obama on down to the mobs in the streets, ignorance of the meaning of the flag prevails. The flag symbolizes our nation and its ideals. It is proudly carried at every major event that is important to our country. The flag is you and me. It represents all the brave young men and women who have fought so hard to preserve our freedom. Our enemies burn our flag. Now are enemies are citizens of our nation. Some in high positions, others feeding off the hard work of others. It is time to take back our nation. It is time to tell the rioters and haters that they have outstayed their welcome. God Bless America......

I have to take issue with this "The six officers in Baltimore are going to be found guilty even if they are innocent." because

They can't get a fair trial in Baltimore especially after the DAs and Mayor's prejudiced comments about getting justice for Grey. There will be a change of venue. But the trial will cost taxpayers multi-millions of dollars. This is such a high profile case the defense will be the best in the nation and even laymen can poke huge holes in the DA's case.

I'm not saying the cops are innocent of everything, negligence might be the worst possible charge, but how can they charge the female cop who was basically nothing but a bystander to the arrest? There is no way to prove the injury occurred in the truck but the driver is the one accused of second degree murder. The more I hear about this I still think he was injured in the take down or had an injury that was aggravated. How do you go from peddling a bike and running away to having to be dragged straight legged to the truck?

MLK said in 1961 that the problems blacks have aren't going to change until the 10% of the population which they are stops committing 51% of the crimes. That really hasn't changed, has it?

Good Morning tsadjako,

I am not so sure that there will be a change in venue. The prosecutor should recluse herself, but she won't. There was a rush to judgement in this case. It had no roots in right or wrong, but it was used to stop the rioting. Bad day for American justice is all I can say. See you at the Inn.

It is not only students that should be thrown out of the schools , I think much of the faculty should go as well. By the way, I have one thing to say to the ugly girl stomping on the, the video that I have seen many times on TV. "Shut up, Porky".

Further , a white NYPD officer was shot in the face by a black guy with a criminal record over the weekend. Where is the outrage? Where're are the demonstrations and rioting by whites in NYC? (Answer: They are working and letting justice take its course.). Where is rev al? How come the empty suit in the white house hasn't opened his mouth? Where is justice for white people?

I had to laugh at the guy on TV during the Baltimore riot who said, "Everytime I get arrested the cops treat me bad."

I guess in his mind, and the minds of many, that we need to change the cops rather than changing their own behavioir so they stop getting arrested?

These disgusting students have never done a damn thing to defend our flag so to them it is just a piece of cloth with no real value. Perhaps if they served even one year in the Military they would feel differently. They have no concept of all those who have given their own lives so that they can strut around some College campus walking on our flag.

Every one of these students and the College Administrators should be hauled to one of our borders and shown the exit door. Perhaps they could find a country who would welcome them wiping their feet on that countries flag. I'm thinking they might be in for a surprise.

Good Morning taxlarry,

Your commentary really points out what is wrong in this country. The lunatics, dopes and charlatans have taking the reins and society is paying a very heavy price. Common sense is dead and so is moral integrity. See you at the Inn.

Good Morning Mike,

How right you are. These idiots are so anxious to disrespect our flag, but they are not the least bit worried about consequences. Try that anywhere else, as you point out, and they would never see the light of day again. I wish they would leave, I really do. See you at the Inn.

"An ugly picture of our country is emerging"....we are in total agreement over that line, Pop. We may not be in agreement over the reason for it, but I agree, this nation needs fixing. :) Have a great week.

Good Morning billy,

There are a host of reasons for the mess we are in. The war on poverty never worked. All it did was create dependent people. There should be a war on bad parenting, crime and a sense of entitlement. If young blacks want to change their lives, they have to pick themselves up, work hard, get educated and create a worthwhile life for themselves. Other groups have done just that and succeeded. See you at the Inn.

Remember the old saying, "Give a man a fish and feed him for one day. Teach him to fish and feed him for the rest of his life."

It seems the war on poverty is limited to giving fish to those who need assistance. The Politicians who make these decisions are eating Lobster while they hand out the fish.

Perhaps if they would ever admit the war on poverty has been a total failure a plan to really correct the problem would evolve. I know many in private industry would be more than willing to take part in government sponsored training programs.

It is sad that there are examples of violence in the world, and that by bullying and punitive actions, groups advance their missions. Maybe I am too soft, but I feel that we are in need of kinder mentorship/leadership.

While I also agree that the destruction of our flag is not a good thing by any stretch of the imagination, I feel that there should be a more cognitive and palpable means to address this transgression. Punishment is not a journey that necessarily leads to higher learning. I believe that it generates more anger, resentment, isolation, dissonance and regressive activity (germane to this issue--recycles itself).

We must lead by example. Kindness and respect for human dignity (all human agency) and all articles (belongings affixed and otherwise to this land) should be considered in teaching and training the world to embrace interdependence. Who we are and what we do impacts the world.

Anger begets anger, and kindness begets more kindness. It begins with one domino.

Thanks for always massaging both hemispheres of my brain.

And THIS needs to be memorized and/or carried with each & every REAL American who truly does WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK!! FROM THIS MOMENT UNTIL WALKING INTO THE VOTING BOOTHS IN 2016!! This is all I have to say at this point pop, except another fabulously written hub in the "Tell it Like it IS," series!...UP shared, pinned, tweeted, mass e-mailed, passed out on street corner! Peace, Paula

RobinGrosswirth - While I totally understand what you are saying, I believe we are past the point where kindness will make any difference at all.

We now have ISIS, a hate filled group whom are determined to destroy every human being who is not willing to change to their religious beliefs. Their mass slaughter of hundreds of human beings should be a signal that any kindness would be wasted on them. This group is growing in numbers by the day and that should be very alarming to all of us.

I suspect that any show of kindness would result in them lopping off your head and handing it to you.

Dear Mike,

The federal government can't solve a thing. What we need is a combination of private enterprise and individuals really wanting to make a difference and a life that means something. I'll save you a seat at the Inn.

Dear Robin,

at this point in our history and the history of the world, an act of kindness will be used by those trying to eliminate us. That is a very sad reality, but it is reality nevertheless. We must stop being naïve. We must stop expecting a better outcome from events that always lead to disaster. What we need to do is get tough and tell those who just don't get what we stand for to take a walk. Our nation is worth fighting for. Thank you for your excellent commentary and see you at the Inn.

Despite the televised prejudicial remarks of the prosecutor, I doubt that all 6 members of the police force will be found guilty by any jury. Plea bargaining will probably take place and one member will inform on the others. As is often the case.

That flag-stomping display is disgraceful - those cretins should be punished.

Robin - Having hope is a good thing and most of us say "I hope" quite often. But with all the changes we have seen in this world in the last few years "hope" by itself will not solve the problem. We really need to get proactive and deal head on with some of the threats facing our country. If we don't, all the hope in the world will not save this country.

The subject of this hub is about some of our own citizens trampling our flag. I can say "I Hope" they don't do this anymore, or I can take action that will make them never want to do this again. If they really hate this country that badly they should just go somewhere else that might suit them better. Doing nothing about this type behaviour is just letting them know that it is OK to keep behaving this way.

Hxprof 19 months ago from Clearwater, Florida

Pop - I agree with you that, "our society is being run by dangerous, lawless morons." Might I add very evil morons. However, destroying the American flag is a 50 year old display which doesn't hurt anyone. Yes, I agree that the flag represents (or is supposed to represent) what is great about our country, but the only pain this can inflict is psychological. My perspective is that they can stomp, burn or do anything they want to the flag.....unless that flag comes from MY flagpole!

Old Poolman profile image

We should ask the thousands who have risked their lives so that we can still have this flag what they think about it. Unfortunately we can't ask the thousands who have given their life for this flag and our freedom.

Good Morning Mike,

These idiots who are stomping on the flag to defend a wanted man are accompanying their act with some pretty crude language. Those who gave their lives, and their limbs to safeguard our country must be in agony at this display of hatred for America. Let's face it, we are at war not only with radical Islam but with Americans who wish us harm. I'll be at the Inn. Let's have a moment of silence for the 25 year old NYC cop who lost his life at the hands of a cold blooded murderer. Where's the Rev Al now?
