GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE REFORM ?

DOES GOVERNMENT WANT TO TAKE OVER OUR HEALTHCARE

Does Government want to take over our HEALTHCARE by forcing Health insurance companies out of business. In the early morning on December 24, 2009, the Senate voted to approve the HEALTH REFORM BILL on a party line vote.

Many of the polls that were taken by various pollsters showed that the majority of citizens were not in favor of the proposed Healthcare bill The people who participated in the polls were against the proposed Health Reform package 55% to33%.

The proposed Healthcare Reform bill including the managers amendment did not allow the Senators sufficient time, 72 hours to review the final bill that was voted on that morning. The minority party's( Republicans ) attempts to stop the vote were unsuccessful. It was evident that many members did not read or debate the final Healthcare Reform bill before casting their vote. The 72 hour requirement was not adhered to by majority leader Senator Reid and the Democrats in the Senate. The voting on the Healthcare bill proceeded upon objections from the minority Republican members. The bill was passed on a party line vote, the Senate adjourned and left Washington as planned.

What should be most disturbing to the people is that none of some very important amendments proposed by the Republican minority was not allowed to be debated and voted on. Important issues such as tort reform, approval to sell insurance across state lines and taxation were rejected by the Democrat majority.

The Health Reform Bill now proceeds to member committees of the House and the Senate. Their mission will be to piece together a Health Reform Package that will be debated and voted on by the Senate and the House. Congress will send the Healthcare bill to the President for his signing the bill into law. In both the House and Senate versions of the Healthcare Reform BillL, there were conflicting versions of important features of the bill. Surely those topics will need to be compromised by one of the parties in order for the bill to proceed to becoming law..

Healthcare costs have sky rocketed and continues to rise. The increase in healthcare insurance costs according to members of Congress and the President is that health insurance companies overcharge and the companies are making huge profits on providing medical insurance. Many families have not been able to cover the increases in family health insurance. The families are in a precarious position should they need healthcare services.

The Health Reform Bill’s intention was to provide health insurance for the uninsured, reduce healthcare costs and make it more affordable to more citizens The Health Reform bill in it's present form will increase costs, create additional government agencies, force citizens to purchase insurance or be fined by the government, taxed or penalized including employers if they do not comply with certain parts of the Health Reform Bill.

REFER

www.senate.gov

The Congressional Budget Office ( CBO ) has made statements on the cost of the Health Reform bill that have been questionable. One must wonder as to how the CBO can arrive to a conclusion since they have not reviewed the final bill. The CBO states that the bill will be deficit neutral. It should be noted that Medicare was cut $500 billion and payments to provider's fees will be further reduced.

President Obama made statements that he will not sign a bill that increases the national debt and the deficit. Let's all hope that President Barak Obama will keep his word. The Health Reform Legislation once it is signed by the President will have an immediate impact on the health insurance industry. .

The Government will in essence be collecting fees that pay for services that will not be available until 2014.Can we the people trust our Government to put those monies aside for us until 2014 when the Social Security Trust Fund and Medicare Trust Fund will be bankrupt shortly? Every citizen should be concerned and become knowledgeable as to the contents of the Health Reform Law.

The Health Care Law will effect each group in our country, the rich, the poor and the middle class. Take note that close to 50% of our citizens do not pay federal taxes today. It remains as to which class will carry the burden to fill the US Treasury so that our government will be able to function as the U S Constitution requires.

In Conclusion:

With unemployment at 10% or more, it would appear that raising taxes on working families and business would not be in the best interest in these troubling times. The Health Reform plan raises taxes, increases the deficit and increases the national debt. Fellow Americans, now it is time that '' we the people'' should be questioning our elected officials that we sent to Washington.

1. Why they voted against the will of the people by voting for the health care bill?

2. Why did they vote on an incomplete document that they did not read prior to casting their vote?

The Health Reform law will effect both the young , the old and all legal and non legal people in our country WAKE UP AMERICA before it's too late, call your Congressional representatives and make them accountable for their actions.

I understand what you are saying. I see no help to the American people overall in this Bill. I only see the Health Industry benefiting from it and basically "enslaving" Americans to Insurers. It should be scraped and they should start over or leave it alone. Is the Health and Insurance industry out of control, Yes! But, let's not cause more damage.

THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES recently voted to repeal the Healthcare bill. Since the Senate is controlled by the Democrats, the bill will not be repealed. President Obama has already stated that he will veto any bill to repeal Obamcare if it gets to his desk. The fact is the Democrats control 2/3 of the government. The Healthcare bill was passed by a super majority Democrat Congress without any input from the Republicans and made possible by the wheeling-dealing of President Obama, Pelosi and Reid.

Many statements made by President Obama, now that the bill has been passed, have been found to be incorrect and untruthful. The only leverage that the Republicans have after winning the House in 2010 is to vote NOT to fund parts of the bill.

The Obama Administration recently announced that no more waivers will be approved after Sept. 1/2011

The validity of the healthcare law is being heard in the federal court system. It is evident that the Supreme Court will decide if the HEALTHCARE law is constitutional.

Congress has yet to approve the 2012 budget. President Obama and the Democrat controlled Senate have not submitted a 2012 budget as of July 1,2011. The House approved the Ryan 2012 budget which does not change Medicare for those presently receiving Medicare until 2021.

There’s some good reasons why obamacare should be repealed.

1. The majority of citizens polled, oppose the law

2. Speaker ‘’ reconciliation ‘’ Pelosi said ‘’ we must pass the bill so that we can find out what’s in it ‘’

3. Senators and Congressman didn’t even read the bill prior to voting on the bill, shameful as that sounds.

4. Obama promises Congress enough time(72 hrs ) to review the bill prior to voting on the bill. Somehow the promised time was denied to members of Congress

5.Congressional rules require a bill to be on the floor when voting takes place. A request to review the bill was denied, the chair response was that the bill was not on the floor and voting continued. Honest transparent government!

One must remember when the Obama ’’ transparency’’ administration and the Democrat SUPER majority Congress were exposed of behind closed doors special deals to members of Congress to get their vote to pass the bill. The bill was a 100% PARTISAN not bi-partisan as all bills should be when passed in Congress. For the Democrat leadership to blame Republicans is disingenuous and FALSE. Please note that the Healthcare bill was not written in Congress, it was written by an outside party hired by Senate leader Reid. The bill did not go to committees for review, debate and recommendations as required by Congressional rules.

Lastly , the Senators were denied debating the House bill, the necessary 60 Senate votes procedure was not allowed. Speaker Pelosi used a process called ‘’ reconciliation ‘’ to by pass the SENATE 60 vote procedure because the Senate was unable to get 60 votes to pass the bill. With the procedure, a simply majority vote by-passed the 60 vote requirement. Surely OPEN and TRANSPARENT government action in a Democrat 100% controlled government.

The CBO recently scored the law and reported that the law will not cost $900 billion as originally reported but the bill will cost more than 2x the original estimate. Let’s not forget that the HEALTHCARE bill cut $500 billion from Medicare.

Thank you for writing this important and informative Hub! You make alot of excellent and insightful points, that anyone following this issue should pay attention to!

" The 72 hour requirement was not adhered to by majority leader Senator Reid and the Democrats in the Senate."

It would be interesting to see if this violation could be brought before the courts.

"President Obama made statements that he will not sign a bill that increases the national debt and the deficit. Let's all hope that President Barak Obama will keep his word."

This would be a miracle in itself! The republican minorities proposals were the only ideas that had any chance of holding costs down were not even voted on, as you pointed out! Deregulating every nock and cranny of the healthcare industy along with incentiving health savings accounts, is what it would take to bring down the costs, anything less is just political mumbo jombo!

6/23/12 an update

Obama and Congress are awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare which should be released next week. Arizona's Immigration Law SB 1070 also will have a decision rendered. It could be a tough week for the Democrats .

Obama and the Democrats have reason to be worried if Obamacare is revoked.

BREAKING NEWS

Today 6/28/12, the Supreme Court ruled that the Obamacare law is constitutional on the basis that the mandate to force citizens to purchase health care insurance is a TAX. During the Healthcare debates in 2009, President Obama said that the mandate IS NOT a tax. The President apparently lied.

The President, shortly after hearing that the law is constitutional , appeared on television and said that the verdict by SCOTUS was ‘’ A victory for the American people’’. A massive tax is a victory? In 2014, the mandate will be in effect, it will be a massive TAX increase on the American people. The President and the Democrat leaders celebrated the win for the party in their efforts in passing the Healthcare legislation.

The American people were lied to by the President and Congress in the process of approving the Healthcare bill. Now knowing that the mandate as ruled by SCOTUS is to be a fine, will Congress continue the perpetration on the American people or will Congress revoke the law as unfair and unjust to the middle class who will be mostly affected by the healthcare law.

As speaker Pelosi said ’’ we need to pass the bill to find out what’s in it ’’.Speaker Pelosi emphatically stated that the mandate was a fine and not a TAX. The 111TH CONGRESS will go down in history as the most corrupt in our nation’s history. The bill was passed by the members of Congress prior to reading the bill, prior to a debate, no amendments were allowed and prior to the final bill being written.

In Nov, the American people will vote for a President and a Congress in determining the future of our country. Will the American people vote for corruption and poverty or will they vote for prosperity and a new beginning? The 2012 elections will be the most important election of our time that will set the direction of our government for the present and future generations.

JE - "Does Government want to take over our HEALTHCARE by forcing Health insurance companies out of business. "

ME - Seems like your prognostication was wrong on three counts; 1) ACA is NOT a takeover of the health care system; it never has been since the single-payer option was properly discarded, 2) no health insurance companies have gone out of business OR are even struggling, and 3) health insurance companies are happy with it as many more joined up in the second round.

JE - "With unemployment at 10% or more, it would appear that raising taxes on working families and business would not be in the best interest in these troubling times. "

ME - Two problems here; 1) taxes were not raised on working families, for the great majority total health care costs have come down and 2) unemployment is now normal at 5.6%, so it seems like ACA either had no impact on unemployment or helped reduce it (more likely the former).
