Good Christian Bitches

May, 2012 update: GCB has been cancelled. Thank you to the 1,328 people who read this post. Thank you to those who called, faxed, and emailed sponsors. Thank you, especially to those who prayed to bind the success of the show. Four of every five sponsors backed out in the first month. The show finished dead last in ratings. Even with all the negative publicity (which Hollywood calls "good"), the show finished last. That is YOUR prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Here is the original article:

ABC television has a new show titled GCB. It is about some evil women who attend church. The trailers all show some beautiful women who loathe each other. In one trailer, women are shown preparing themselves to look amazingly beautiful. They have sparkling jewelry, make up, and tight cotton dresses. They arrive and walk down the sidewalk. Just then, the viewer hears a "goooong!" and the camera pans out to reveal the church the women are entering.

In another clip, one woman tells another, "cleavage makes your cross hang straight." The director is the same man, Daren Starr, who directed "Sex and the City", a raunchy HBO soap portraying the lives of four female friends. Three of those ladies spend their time talking about sex and trying to "get laid".

This is not what Christianity is about. The Christian mindset is one which serves meals to the homeless and funds a shelter or provides one when it rains. Dressing with sexy clothing, makeup and jewelry is also not the Christian focus. The focus of Christianity is on the inside; the focus is on the heart.

Hell, Fire, and Rhinestones, Here Come the GCBs!

What the Bible says about Appearance

(1 Sam 16:7) But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

(John 7:24) Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.

(Luke 11:37-39) And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat. And when the Pharisee saw [it], he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner. And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.

Boycott

Christians should not tolerate these hate crimes. Non-Christians and those who do not attend Christian churches see this and the image of church is reinforced in this negative light. Every Christian should Share this on facebook, Tweet this article, and tell their friends to boycott advertisers on ABC, and especially those which advertise during the airing of GCB.

GCB Advertisers - ABC Biggest Advertisers

Disney is owned by ABC. ABC recently signed a $1 billion advertising deal with:

Pepsi

PepsiCo Inc.

McDonald's Corp.

Apple Computer Inc.

Universal Pictures

Gillette Co.

Visa

It would be difficult to boycott all of the companies that advertise on ABC, or that are owned by Disney. Instead, we should target just one of these: Pepsi.

Why Pepsi is the Best Boycott Target:

Pepsi has no health benefits whatsoever. Pepsi dehydrates whoever drinks just one 12 ounce can. It also lowers your body pH. A low pH is associated with cancer and other illnesses. Soda consumption is also highly correlated with obesity.

Boycotting Pepsi will be felt the fastest. Soda is something purchased regularly. If you quit today, and get three of your friends from church to boycott all Pepsi products (this includes Aquafina (purified tap water), Sierra Mist, and the energy drink, Amped. PepsiCo also makes money bottling and distributing Dr Pepper).

Pepsi works with Synomex, a company that uses cells from aborted babies to develop flavors. The baby cells are not in the products. They are used for research in Synomex labs.

Pepsi is a huge supporter of the the anti-family agenda. See The American Family Association boycott call against Pepsi

A List of Pepsi Products to Boycott Because they Advertise on ABC

Definitely boycott the products. The more of a soda drinker you were before the boycott, the bigger of an impact you will have. I used to drink an Izze now and then, and even the Seattle's Best coffee. Not anymore! I've also purchased my last Tropicana o.j.!

Pepsi Brand Drinks:

Pepsi

Mountain Dew

Sierra Mist

Tropicana

Sobe

IZZE

Ocean Spray

AMP

Mug Root Beer

Seattle's Best Coffee

Brisk tea & fruit punch

Aquafina

Frappucino (the one sold at Starbucks)

Lipton Iced Tea

Propel

You can see the full list on Pepsi's site: http://www.pepsico.com/Brands/Pepsi_Cola-Brands.html

Go All-out for Christianity

If you have never resisted a hate crime before, or have never done anything to facilitate people coming to Christ, this is an easy opportunity! Some people are not comfortable evangelizing in the street or in the market. But, to simply not purchase Pepsi products, and to share this at Bible study- we all can do this! Here is a link to products sold by Pepsi:

Pepsi product line

Notice that Pepsi sells a lot of drinks. The impact of supporting ABC, and the pressure on ABC to quit airing this show will be felt quickly as Tropicana, Gatorade, and Frito-Lay chips sit on the shelves.

Promote this Boycott

Go to your church and share this concept with your pastor. Make an appointment with the head pastor, not with elders or associates who do not make the final decision.

It is important to never yield an inch to the wickedness flooding America. Portraying the church as petty, promiscuous women is not going to facilitate bringing the unsaved into the Kingdom of God.

Share this article by emailing it to friends, Tweeting it, and sharing it on social networks like facebook.

Here is the email I sent to ABC & to PepsiCo

I 100% disapprove of the tolerance level at ABC for defamation and misrepresentation of what it truly means to be a Christian. The promos for GCB, and the title itself, "Good Christian Bitches" is completely unacceptable. I am boycotting all PepsiCo products because of this, and am calling local pastors as well. This campaign will continue until ABC removes the show and establishes a board run by Christians who have input and veto/re-writing power over shows being aired.

Based on this book:

Early Backpedaling

Some promos and web articles expand GCB to " Good Christian Belles". Do not be fooled. The television series on ABC, which started March 4, 2012 (same day this article first published) is based on the book by Kim Gatlin, titled "Good Christian Bitches". I'll put an Amazon link so you can go over and read the overview. Notice also that the book is published on the highest of all Satanic human sacrifice days: All Hallow's Eve, October 31st. It was published October 31, 2008.

This book and this television series are very much an attack on Christianity.

Canned Response from PepsiCo

Here is the response I got from Pepsi:

Thank you for contacting us at Pepsi-Cola regarding our television advertising. We appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts on this very important issue.

We have standards against advertising on shows that may offend our consumers, and we make every effort to adhere to this process. Our guidelines encourage advertising on programs that are in keeping with the image of our brands. We routinely screen shows for general adherence to our advertising goals, and we actively work to ensure the programming on which we advertise is not offensive.

We are committed to scrutinizing our evaluation standards and review processes across the board--including on-line marketing and social media.

Please be assured that your concerns and comments will be shared with our media buying team. We believe it is important for them to hear what our consumers find objectionable.

Thank you again for writing.

If this was a show that presented any religion in a negative light other than Christianity, the PC police would be all over it. If that's not reverse discrimination, I don't know what is. I dearly love how you included the companies that support this and the products they need us to buy. Voted up!

poetvix, You are correct. Attacks on Christianity plague movies. If you read my movie reviews, I include a section subtitled "Obligatory Attack on Christianity", and then I list the part(s) of the movie that are designed to lead people away from God.

Appalling TV show. I appreciate that you alerted us to this. Would direct protests to ABC, letters, help as well? Can you suggest whom we should write. Thanks again. SHARING

Poetvix is right, if it was an attack on anything else, it would have been gone already. Man, you hit the nail on the head. I don't watch TV for this very reason.

As far boycotting, I don't believe that's going to do much. It is impossible to avoid buying some product that is associated with something that offends us. Take Ford for example. It has been said he was anti-Semitic, but I know God blessed me with a great car years ago which happened to be a Ford.

I think God is more interested in how we live and how we witness rather than how much trouble we stir up in the world. I personally don't drink Pepsi and I am trying to quit all those unhealthy products, but I know my actions are a drop in the bucket as far as Pepsi is concerned.

Still, great hub, love your message.

Yes! If you have Pepsi products in your home, recently purchased, return them to the store and inform the staff you are returning the products because you oppose the negative portrayal of Christianity on television. I'll look up some numbers and addresses.

Thanks for the "heads-up" about this show. I had no idea what the initials stood for until I read your hub. I already boycott Pepsi - I think it tastes awful! I will not be watching this show - it is ridiculous!

Well I agree with the assessments above - but let me point out how this could be a "good thing."

I've known for more years than I can remember that the media hates Christianity, and basically, I think all mass media is ran by satanist....no really, and there's a lot of folks besides myself that believe that too, and one doesn't have to be the slightest bit Christian to pick up on it...but the media has never cared for presenting truth in any manner, and so it promotes atheism left and right.

I think this could be a "good thing" as it makes it OBVIOUS to all that the media hates Christianity - it's like they're showing your their poker hand or something.

Alexander Mark: Boycotting does work. A website called Democratic Underground successfully had ABC pull TWO specials via two different boycotts. Both were Republican promotion pieces.

manfrommodesto,

This is truly evil and should be boycotted. Unbelievable.

I normally believe any controversy about the church is good and always support free speech because it gets us thinking about God but this entire show is simply immoral. If they want attention, I am not giving it to them in any fashion.

Do not tune in, turn away and save yourself.

CrisAtl 4 years ago

I don't know why you bypassed McDonalds to just focus on Pepsi. If McDonalds is an advertiser of GCB, they should be targeted because from the clips I've seen of this show, have nothing whatsoever to do with family values, which McDs is to support and people eat more hamburgers than they do Pepsi's. ALSO, what really bothers me from the clips is their use of the cross AND them making comments about Holy Spirit. According to Matt.12:32 and Luke 12:10, everyone involved in this, producers, advertisers, actors, etc. are really treading on dangerous ground.

Man from Modesto profile image

Man from Modesto 4 years ago from Kiev, Ukraine (formerly Modesto, California) Author

I have seen boycotts that failed because the target was so huge. A church attempted to get people to boycott Johnson & Johnson, who make 40% of everything.

Focusing on just Pepsi will work. Once Pepsi backs off, the focus will switch to the next target. Plus, as mentioned in the article, for every person you lead off Pepsi, you actually benefit their health. It's a win-win.

Good Christian,

Thanks for the link. I am not watching the show. The article gives a good overview of how Christians are portrayed as hypocrites and greedy gossips; yet non-Christians are near saintly. In life, both types of people exist: fraudulent Christians and moral, loving non-Christians. However, Hellywood is extremely slanted in their portrayal of how society breaks down.

What I am totally against is the misdirection on who is doing this: It is Satanists and God-haters, not "zionist Jews."

Honostly, is it wise to attack the Jews when God clearly tells us that anyone who attempts to lift that yoke will be broken by it? What happens every time America asserts influence in Israeli affairs? A natural disaster, that is what! Ted, who calls himself "Reverand Ted" (no such titles exist in scripture, only offices, which are forms of service to the body, not titles), should consider this when he writes his articles.

Hi 4 years ago

This show in my opinion certainly has no agenda other than to make cash. People agree with its basic premise and that's why they know they will be able to do so. I personally have no interest in watching it as it doesn't actually look very good. However, I'm glad that it exists if it deters even one person from becoming religious. Every right thinking person with enough education and life experience knows that despite the good it can do in incredibly localized instances, religion is the root of all evil in the world.

Man from Modesto profile image

Man from Modesto 4 years ago from Kiev, Ukraine (formerly Modesto, California) Author

The love of money is the root of all evil. Interesting to note that you correlate education and rejection of God. That is exactly how it is! Note, however, that only a correlation has been observed. It is only arrogance that assumes there is a causal relationship, i.e., "being smarter causes one to rejection religion- the realm of the simple-minded who do not understand science."

It is Satanists who publish the text books. It is Satanists who control most of the major corporations. You know, the people requiring you get "educated" before they will hire you for the big bucks.

hi 4 years ago

I don't believe education makes anyone smarter, only more knowledgeable. It really doesn't take much intelligence to see the fallacy of religious belief. And by education I simply mean an open minded accrual of information, not that you happened to continue for longer than others in formal 'education'. Besides, I'm not even arguing the truth of any religion with my first post, simply starting that the pain it causes in the world makes me and other sensible human beings despise it.

Man from Modesto profile image

Man from Modesto 4 years ago from Kiev, Ukraine (formerly Modesto, California) Author

I have 3 degrees, a professional certification as an engineer, and I am a member of MENSA. I spend 10 to 12 hours every week (min) researching and learning new information. I enjoy it.

My previous post encapsulates the general premises of atheists, who love the fallacious personal attack (which you also have done just above).

If you want to continue in your "open minded" (means without discernment or caution in application) accrual, learn this:

religion and Jesus are NOT the same at all. In fact, it was the religious people of his time who killed Jesus. The Pharisees and temple leaders sent their servants to arrest him. They delivered Jesus to the Romans for execution. When the Roman governor wanted to set Jesus free, he reminded them they could release one person from prison each year (suggesting Jesus be requested.) Instead, they asked for a rebel named Barabbas.

(The last paragraph is not for you. It is for someone who is going to read this who thinks the Jews had no sin in the death of Jesus.)

Better yet, if you want to know the truth, why not read the Bible yourself? After all, the stakes are high: your eternal soul (the thing described by all those people having out-of-body experiences while on drugs, almost killed, in surgery, etc.)

You have a soul. It is eternal. After the death of the physical body, your spirit (you) will be Judged by God. The devil, who is also real, will stand as the accuser. The only advocate will be Jesus. He will defend those who claimed him in their life. All requested by Jesus will enter Heaven. Those who reject Jesus will not enter. They instead go to Hell, and then to the Lake of Fire.

I do not have any courtesy for people who decide to continue degrading and insulting God and people who love God. Comments of this type will not be allowed. Thank you.

hi 4 years ago

You don't allow comments that you find inarguable and then lie on the face of it about people attacking those who love god? Well that isn't very Christian of you is it. I've got my answer anyway, I was only wondering if you were a fraud, seems so.

Man from Modesto profile image

Man from Modesto 4 years ago from Kiev, Ukraine (formerly Modesto, California) Author

I'll allow this, shorter, milder version of your previous "comments" so people can see what I am talking about.

I am very clear that those who overlook the obvious have "already got" "an answer anyway" and are just joining the conversation to be insulting and to air their self-perceived superiority.

But, do you really have peace? Do you really smile and feel warm and good as you drift off to sleep? I do. And it is because I know Jesus will never leave nor forsake me. It is because He gives me a peace and confidence to smile at someone who insults me and to then encourage them toward the best thing life has to offer: becoming a child of Almighty God.

If you are curious, read the book of John in the Bible.

hi 4 years ago

You should consider a career in politics with your apparent joy in deceit and spin. This is what the FANATICALLY religious always do. As I pointed out in the post you didn't allow, I've done more research into the truth of Christianity than, lets face it, 99.99% of Christians. Something you didn't want shown here of course.

What you didn't want shown wasn't an "attack", which lets face it, would only further your position. It was that I had a genuine opinion based on research and evidence, that I tried my hardest to find a truth in amongst all of this. That unlike the majority I didn't just believe what I had been told by others and searched for myself. Something proven by the fact that you told me in your last post to read something you already know I have read several times. (Bearing false witness)

If someone questioned someone else about something they held to be true, they would simply state the reasons for it's truth. However when I questioned you, you hid the comment and told lies about half of it's contents and continued as if the other half had never been written.

I'm sure you'll hide this, feel free. I'm not trying to make a point to the 2 or 3, if any, faceless strangers who stumble across this article. I thought I was talking to you. Apparently you don't have anything to say to the facts. You're just waiting for something you can jump on to elicit an emotional response and a mock sense of justification.

I'm unsure whether you have fooled yourself or are just attempting to fool others. But either way, you should be truly ashamed of your blatant lies to try and make a point about something so important to so many people.

hi,

I said precisely what I meant: your comment was not posted for it's unprofessional, personal attack of the childish sort; "you're stupid!" kind of comments. There is really no place in intelligent, meaningful conversation for it.

Your recent post omits this. Kudos to you. It's nice to see someone with determination greater than the force inspiring baseless insults. So, 10 points for you. Sincerely, a it is rare to see this.

I have many testimonies of the wonderful things my Father in Heaven has done for me, in my life. You can see many of these on my Youtube channel: knowjesusknowpeace.

One caveat in research is this: The seeker must truly be out for truth, not to prove their position; there must be zero bias. Actually, I feel by the Holy Spirit that you did not have a bias... But, that you actually did make the great effort you are claiming.

As you said, this is "so important to others", including YOU. Eternity is at stake.

I suggest you read the book of John in the Bible. You can find it free online. More than this, begin to yearn for God in your heart; do not resist any calling. Let it grow. Speak out loud, "God, I want to know you. I really want to know you. I want to love you and be loved by you and see your hand in my life as the Christians claim to know you."

Your tongue is the rudder of the ship of your life.

what is shown in the tv show GCB happens in all churches this show has the guts to let people know if you have never been to a church like this then you have been to the perfect church and dont need to return to it because you will corrupt it. and this show is telling about the experiences of the writer of the book . I have been to many churches in my life and i have seen exactly this type of actions , and i have also seen love and compassion for one another.this show has shown both sides of what happens . you posted a verse john 7:24,what about reading further into the next chapter john 8:7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”

Man from Modesto profile image

Man from Modesto 4 years ago from Kiev, Ukraine (formerly Modesto, California) Author

Ken, the cheap shot is not necessary. You honestly believe that I will corrupt a "perfect" church, do you? Remember, anything more than exactly what you mean to say is from the devil.

Second, a church like the one portrayed in this show is NOT "Christian" at all. Anyone can type "Christ" onto their organization's letter head. When God is really present, there is power and love to show the world what is there.

PS- the stone you threw at my character did not hit it's mark. I forgive you. I wish you peace.

Hollywood and mainstream media paint a false picture of Christians. It is extremely important that we do not allow this to continue. Today, Christians are being murdered all over the world. In Africa, Muslims round them up and set them -alive- on fire. In Syria, there are at least 2 converted factories where Christians are murdered, hundreds per day, assembly-line fashion. In Egypt, Muslims run them over with cars, crucify some, and behead them. In Iraq, Christians are fleeing for their lives.

It has already begun in America, too. Christians are misrepresented as heathens and scum. Even New Agers teach that Christians are "a low vibration, holding down the ascendency of mankind." All these lies need to be stopped.

Men of God forewarned this time would come. It is written all throughout the testimonies, letters, and recorded histories which is popularly called "the Bible."
