Government Spending; Canada
What a waste!
January 7th, 2011
words with a deep meaning, both words send shivers up ones spine when
they stand alone, but when they are put together, well they send an ice cold
chill up my spine. Our government is extremely wasteful with OUR money.
We came out of this recession practically unscathed as a nation and we are
financially very strong. Nevertheless, as individual, as people of this great
nation we—or at least many of us—are struggling financially.
I have no problem with putting money into protecting our nation, specifically our north and also putting money into renewable sources of energy and our military and jobs in general.
However, what really burns me up is the wasteful spending of certain people within our government and our government allowing this stupidity.
I do not want my money going to paying for politician’s holidays, lunches, travel to and from work, gifts etc. The government does not pay for my meals, they do not pay for my travel even when it has to do for medical reasons, they certainly never bought me gifts or sent my family and me on a tropical get-away.
I want these money wasters to stop stealing from me and using the money for their own personal benefits. Now having said this, if the Prime Minister or another politician is going to another country to seal a trade deal/agreement then by all means go and we will pay for it, but we will not agree to have your family tag along, it is not a holiday, it is work and it is for the benefit of our nation.
Stop wasting my money! Unless you are going to pay for my meals, travel, holidays and gifts, I do not want you using my money for these things either. Stop it!
A senator (Raymond Lavigne) charged with fraud and banned from sitting in the upper chamber since 2007 continues to charge taxpayers more than $10,000 a month in travel, hospitality and office expenses on top of his $133,000 a year salary. (cbc.ca
Is he the only one who has allegedly illegally wasted our money?
Probably not. There is a lot of “Legal” spending going on with our money, but
just because it is legal does not mean it is ethical. The
question I pose to all of you is this: Why are we allowing this unjust spending
for their personal enjoyment? We hired them, they work for us, why do we not
have a say? Or do we have a say but have become complacent and feel that we
have no say and no power to correct this.
Well, we CAN make changes, we MUST make changes.
I propose a letter writing campaign which tells our government that we are fed up with paying for their personal things such as travel, meals, gifts, clothing, gas, housing etc.

We can be heard if we all send regular mail, faxes and emails to him to get his attention. A bill needs to be passed which will make it illegal and prevent all government officials from using taxpayer’s money for any items which are not directly linked to their jobs or work. This includes travel to and from work, clothing, and travel within and outside of the country, gifts for themselves or others, meals and anything else. The government does not pay for us to have these things covered; since they are hired by us and work for us we should then not cover these things for them with our taxes. Lets stand up for ourselves and for our country, it is time.
