Democratic System: Has It Evolved To Dictatorship?

Did Our Ancestors Just Turn Over in their Graves?

Is there a pill to give our misguided leaders to make their thinking process well? Who in Congress has voted to give the rebels aid? Who are these rebels; maybe our Al-Qaeda enemies? Is it conceivable Syrians citizens are the rebels that are fighting in their civil war?

We need negotiators with vast experience and non-failed track records. And, before we run off half-cocked we need to reconsider becoming involved in another country's civil war.

Map of Syria
Map of Syria

Who Appointed Us World Police?

We are still in a war that I doubt we helped the citizens much; because it is plain they wanted us out of their country initially. There are so many playing America just to get money; and then killing our men and women who left America to help these people.

Who appointed the USA as "World Police?" I did not vote on it and neither did any other Americans. Our leaders cannot control our own Social Security Administration, must less another country and their war between their people. I am serious when I ask: Do we have any Congress members who are working for the people of the United States?

United States Congress Seal
United States Congress Seal

No One is Held Accountable

Some in Congress are still harping on ‘Gun Control' in our country but are sending weapons to the rebels in other countries. What is wrong with that picture?

We need to take care of business at home first and solve all the problems of a run-away government whose different agencies spend money like water with no accountability. And, when caught, no one's held accountable?

Congress makes a big deal out of investigating and pointing fingers, which in essence one finger is pointing to the accusers and three back to them. Congress is just as much at fault for not having control over the tax payer's money and where it goes.

If they ran the country like a business it would be easy to audit each agency with a profit and loss statement. Congress' accountability for tax payers' money would be well-defined as they are the fiduciary; or have they become something else? Other countries that once respected the United States are now laughing at us or shaking their heads.

America is Constantly in War
America is Constantly in War

Our Country is Still Young

Our country is still young at 237 years old if you are counting from 1776, or from 1783 when England acknowledged us. And, being a young country it needs nourishment and encouraged like a young child.

We all know this has not happened, instead it suffered abuse with wars, foolish spending, broken bridges, bad highways, laws and favors hidden in bill passed, Democrats and Republicans not communicating or working together, attacked on our homeland on 9/11/2001 after the agency that received the information and did nothing to protect us, children in our country going to bed hungry, neglected and abused because of the war on drugs in our country, Hurricane Katina and how helplessly we watched as the people in New Orleans waited for the leaders to come to their aid, health insurance that will impose more stress than good, leaders of other countries making more sense than our own, bankruptcy which Americans paid for big business, foreclosures on the unemployed of over 25 million of Americans, Outsourcing American jobs to overseas by the American companies we supported and help built, and the list goes on.

Vladimir Putin of Russia
Vladimir Putin of Russia

Leaders of Other Countries

Leaders of other countries are making more sense now than our own. My ancestors fought in all the wars to settle a new land, I even have two Indian Chiefs in my family tree. We fought our own Civil War which had good and bad results.

So what kind of report card grade should we give ourselves? What makes Congress or our President think shooting among the people in Syria will solve the issue? It will create a war and not only will boots be on the ground, but it will flow with the blood of Americans and Syrians. How asinine is this concept of thinking?

Our Precious SEALS

Our own Vice President whether a slip of the tongue or not; put targets on our Navy SEALS backs by letting the world know they were the one who assassinated Osama bin Laden the leader of Al-Qaeda.

As soon as it happened the SEALS called their families to warn them to erase all the information and photos on Face Book or any social media to protect them.

The SEALS knew their positions and missions became monitored and they would be the next targets and they were and still remain in jeopardy.

So many deaths from the slip of the tongue or were our SEALS sacrificed. I do not trust anyone in power with any knowledge of our SEALS and their missions.

A huge Amen to you, Bobbi! We need to protect and fix the people of our own country before butting our noses in the business of others. Let them fight their own battles. If we don't quit minding other countries' business, we're liable to have a war on our own turf. We're already at war. Our country is no longer For the People, By the People. We're broken. Let's spend our time and resources on fixing the US.

Oddly, Bobbi, I'm working on a similar hub right now. The American people seem to agree with you if the latest polls can be believed. I know I certainly agree with you. I am tired of this nonsense while our countrymen and women live in the streets and can't earn a decent living.

Well done my friend!

Hi bravewarrior,

Thanks for your visit and comment and I agree with you too. If we do not start taking care of business here in America---there will be no American to take care of and no future for our children.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Lot of ironies in US history...

It praises democracy and condemns dictatorship, and yet they've supported and/or placed in power countless ruthless dictators, from Fulgencio Batista in Cuba to Pinochet in Chile, and Mubarak in Egypt.

It acts as the nuclear and chemical watchdog of the world and yet they probably have the biggest stockpile of nuclear and chemical weapons in the world, along Russia.

It urges countries not to use nuclear and chemical weapons, and yet they have been the only country to ever use not one, but two bombs on civilians.

*sigh*

Bravo .. Very great write Bobbi .. this whole write pains me for it contains what many Americans feel ... Our country is in trouble .. the politicians need to see what we have done here in pueblo, Colorado and Colorado Springs , Colorado ...recalled our legislators that refused to listen to the people .. Democrats in Colorado are now very afraid .. !!!

WE the People ... recalled these out of control Senators .. it was not about Guns as the mainstream media is painting it .. it was local because they refused to listen to what the people wanted .!

America we can do this .. if your local legislator doesn't listen ..BOOT HIM OUT!

WE THE PEOPLE .... they work for you ...!!!!

Excellent article Bobbi!

If the USA had taken care of its own citizens first then people like me would not be finding job in Canada while still longing to be back home in the USA.

My own thing is that we should always encourage democracy, non-intervention in foreign countries, and fare and just treatment to all. We can't be ready to attack a country because we "believe" it has weapons of mass destruction, yet allowing another country in the neighbourhood to secretly have all those weapons.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts.

Well done and reasoned rant Bobbi. I wonder what the heck they are thinking when they just start another war. I do not think they care whether we are giving weapons to Al Qaeda, as long as they do not identify the rebels. I think the original rebels are all gone and Al Qaeda has taken over the job. It is time to stop worrying about policing the world and time to get the U.S. back on it's stumbling feet.

I'd go as far as saying that Democracy IS the new dictatorship - we are all so damn comfy in the west and politicians are all so much the same that nobody cares anymore who gets into power. It beggars belief that the USA and Russia are the two so called super powers that determine who lives or dies - what God given right do they, or the Asad's of the world have to decide this?

The Syrian people should vote with their feet and either revolt in their millions or leave the country until the despot is disposed or dead.

Rant over :-)

Bobbi, great points and perspectives. I never thought about being a "young country" in that manner, that's a good point. At this day and age, people should know right from wrong. With social media as it is, there's dozens of ways to get things done or at the least, get information out to the public. We do need to worry about home more, we have problems here. Personally, I believe their own citizens need to take action(Syria). It just blows my mind that many of these countries believe what they do. Voted up, useful, awesome, interesting, and shared in FB.

About ten years ago, in my country, the king, in the name of democracy, ousted the elected prime minister. Now the country is a republic.

Dictators seek power in the name of democracy making people think democracy itself is wrong.

Just some random points since I'm not familiar with the situation in Nepal, so this is not necessarily addressed at Vinaya's post... but being a king doesn't make you a dictator, and a republic isn't the opposite of a democracy nor is it necessarily a bad thing... and democracy isn't the perfect form of government that some people think it is. Democracy can be wrong when the leaders make it wrong.

There are countless examples of all kinds of government, from monarchies to democracies, failing and succeeding; so the problem isn't with the form of government but with the people leading it. Also, the fact that democracy might've worked in a specific country doesn't mean that it will work on every country.

Several years ago, a Christian woman shared in a forum what the Holy Spirit showed her: there would be revolutions in the Middle East. People would overthrow their governments. But, in exchange, they would get much worse, and regret it. All of it, she saw, would be initiated by wicked men.

That is who runs America now: an evil mafia. W. Bush and Obama both started wars on March 19th. That date is the day to honor Minerva, goddess of war. Bush, Cheney, and Obama are cousins. The same bloodline has been running this country from the very beginning.

Interesting article. Though, I'm starting to waver on my beliefs about "we should protect our own country first". After all, why should our compassion or interests stop at a border? No matter what country someone is from, they're still a person. Why do they matter less than our own countrymen/women?

But anyway, I enjoyed reading your ideas and arguments. It's great food for thought.

Our nation was the result of nothing short of a murderous invasion, the near genocide of the First Nations people, land-theft by force and then built on the back of African slaves.

That does not qualify us to be the policeman of the world.

We need first to honor the Indian Treaties made in the 1800s. Then we need to ensure real equality of opportunity and rights for everyone at home; red, black, yellow, white. We need to eradicate homelessness and poverty and use our resources to raise us up with universal education and healthcare.

In my humble opinion.

Yes, Bobbi.

There is always a higher plan. America is dynamic and large-hearted in spite of all its failings. As such the inner forces will ultimately win. Many great men and women have descended from above and played their roles. Things seem dark at times, yes, but ultimately Light will win.

The Divine needs some as co-workers to manifest His peace. Love ultimately triumph. Let us pray. Loving thoughts this Mothering Sunday. Shalom.

"We need negotiators with vast experience and non-failed track records. And, before we run off half-cocked we need to reconsider becoming involved in another country's civil war."

It seem's the Obama administration is trying to weaken our position in the world because he feels America is too big for it's britches. John Kerry and Obama seems to think if we're nice and disarm that Iran and North Korea will do likewise.

No wonder Al -Qaeda feels it can launch an attack on our embassy. We sat around knowing the threat months beforehand and did nothing for political purposes. Obama goes around the world apologizing for America, no wonder they these two bit terrorists and dictators think they can provoke us.
