How Average people manage to be happy while successful & unsuccessful remain miserable?

.

Do we really believe the above statement? Of course not.

Happiness is a state of mind and well being, it has nothing to do with status or whether you are successful or not, it is all to do with how we cope with what life throws at us. Some of us throw our hands in the air and cry over stupid things, to panic at the smallest disruption in their lives , while others get mad and angry , they blame everyone else other than themselves, and then there are those that face things head on.

OK, so lets throw our hands in the air.........we shall have a financial problem, an unexpected bill maybe, we knew the bill was coming ,it comes every year, but, we are unprepared so we cry and we phone the company , they don't help,thoughtless uncaring lot...........we get a loan to pay the bill and pay the bill until the new bill comes again the following year...we dont have the money, we still owe on last years..Result.unhappiness.

Lets blame everyone else but ourselves......Company director, very successful.wife ,2.4 children and a bank account anyone would envy, but, maintaining the lifestyle requires work morning noon and night, endless meetings and comes home tired and exhausted. The wife is standing in the hallway ,children either side and suitcases by the door, An arguement ensues and family leaves the director, "But it was all for her and the children, how ungrateful, cant she see how hard I have to work...Bla de bla de bla" He totally missed the point that his wife and children needed him around, that he should have paid more attention.Result -unhappiness.

Facing things head on..........These characters have everything in balance,they plan for the future,they have contingency plans for the unexpected, their homelives are loving and compromises are always undertaken that benefits the family unit as a whole. They are focused. Result - happiness.

In conclusion , happiness is not determined on whether a person is successful or not successful, happiness is having the right balance ,both in mind and in actions.

Balance = happiness

Happiness is equal to Balance
Happiness is equal to Balance

You make a good point about contingency plans. It really calms one's nerves to always have a plan b, or c. Good hub

Very short, but very true. Happiness does not lie in things, but in choices. We can choose joy because we are able to make our own choices each day.

Exactly, I try to get to the point and write down how it is, waffle is not an attribute of mine however once published it did occur to me that I could have argued the points more. Thanks for your comments will try and do better next time

I loved this hub. I was thinking of writing something very similar to it just before I red it. It isn't things tht mattre, but people tht matter. When I was a mother of two daughters about pre-teen, my mother would come to my house and do a "white Glove Test", just to see how clean my house was and she would complain about it to me in front of the children. She would also go right ahead and start cleaning MY house. Finally one day I told her---the house and the things will always be there, but my time with my children will not. Material things come and go, but you need to hold onto people because they go and don't come back. Be happy with what you have right now. There is a saying, The Present is the present.........

I like your Hub. I agree with you and the rest of people commenting... that state of happiness is choice, and that we can be happy despite all circumstances. Being succesful means - to be happy and balanced - here and now.  That is only important measure of personal success.

Well done, thumbs up and I love the picture.

Hello again Lady Guinevere, thanks for dropping by. Did your mother stop interfering after and be happy just with you and your children, I hope so.

Because the moment we are in is all there really is - happiness then must be found within.... "here and now" ..... that being true it falls to reason it has to be choice.... By choosing the way we see this moment and embracing it..... here and now - this is it!

Full Speed ahead - one inch at a time!

Welcome Neil, just the point I was trying to make - happiness comes from within and how you view the moment, thanks for joining the discussion.

Definitely balance equals happiness; It's getting the balance that's the bugger ! This is a nice hub - you know that you can always go back an and to it - but I find the length just fine.

Thanks for the advice Iphigenia, had thought that maybe I should add to a few hubs but I don't know about you but I have so many things I just have to talk and tell about, 'there's the rub'

Success and happiness can only be achieved with balance. All things in moderation is definitely a viable philosophy. Thumbs up!

What a beautiful picture that is! You look at something as stunning as that and you wonder about all the inconsequential things that give us grief...would that our own lives could reflect such balance!

I think that we all worry too much about the little things and forget what really matters,don't you?

Great points! If God intended acquiring things to be the main purpose of our time here, we'd come into this world with a pocket on each hip - one for the the credit cards and one for the cell phone. ;}

Balance is always good. Speaking as someone who has no inner ear left on one side, I can tell you that a life without balance is painful - and embarrassing! LOL!

Good one, short & sweet & right on point.

JamaGenee, you crack me up, would be great if those items were already in the pockets!lol

Silver Freak, it can be painful in so many ways, but having no inner ear...how did you lose it?

So true. You've got to balance your thoughts and actions, can't let one negative aspect of life take control and drown out the good stuff.

Very Good read enjoyed immensely I am a dog at the moment, so you won't recognise me from my usual Avator.

Was arguing on the Pit Bull parent Forum, so turned into an German Shepherd. How immature of me laugh out loud, strange music in background heady scent of jasmine fills the air. Sheep baa in the air you get the picture.

Man can I waffle.

I was once married to a Bank Manager, what a laugh, they never have any money. Just a Huge and I mean Huge Bank Loan and an equally huge overdraft coupled with a massive Mortgage.

Yeah, they are never happy, and that is why they get of on "Well Mrs Jones, your mortgage is behind, and the Bank is going to take your GHouse.

Saddo's. Hes still paying me out.
