How to Donate for Haiti Earthquake Victims
If you want to donate money to help the victims from the earthquake in Haiti, there are a plethora of sites to visit and donate. Most are legit, some are scams. Of the legit ones, the next question is, how much of my donation actually is given to the Haitians? That is anyone's guess, but The Clinton Foundation, posts on their website how much of a donation will go to the victims: 95%. Others organizations, like, Partners in Health, UN, Mercy Corps, may be similar, but they do not disclose it.
Haiti was a cesspool of humanity before the quake, rocked with corruption and political upheaval, the poor people of that country lived a torrid life in many ways. It is the world's poorest. Then, the 7.0 earthquake rocked it and shattered whatever threads of decency that held the country together. Now, assuming the relief aid arrives on time and disease does not make the matter worse, Haiti may hopefully experience a "rebirth" of sorts using all of the world as a source of aid and support and this time, do it right. Hopefully, their standard of living will no longer be the worse because once the danger has passed and infrastructure is repaired and things return to normal, the political problem will resurface along with the corruption. Those are the two reasons why Haiti, before the quake, was a cesspool in many ways.
