I’m Mad as Hell and I’m not going to take it Anymore

This hub is for the 47% of you that pay no taxes at all and for the remainder of you out there who clamor for the so called rich, those making over $250,000 per year to pay what you consider their fair share. Well my first question is who the hell do you think you are that you should be determining what anyone else’s “fair share” is?

In order for me to better explain my position on this I must relate a personal story. The unfolding of this particular event is the crux of my argument along with the rest of us that  are not rich but have acquired a small nest egg for our future; we did so at great personal sacrifice! How was it our Pretender N Chief put it; “Uuuuh those that have benefited most by our way of life should uuuuh expect to pay uuuuh a little bit more”!  In otherwords those that are successful are only so because they were able to benefit from the American way of life not because of any hard work, talent or tenacity they may have possessed as individuals. Well this my friends caused me to see red and that’s why I chose to relate this personal story to you so you could share with me how I benefited from the American Way of Life!

It is Christmas Eve Morning 2006 at 2:45am; the phone rings and I am advised that the last two trains we have out there on my entire 3,000 mile division have just run together at a location roughly 4 and ½ hours away from where I sleep. It’s in the teens outside and snowing heavily but still, I must get out of bed and along with my other two Operating Department heads go to the site of the derailment! Pause for a minute, do you think any of the class warfare envy patrons or any member of the 47% that pay no taxes would have gotten out of bed and driven through the snow 4 and ½ hours to handle this clamody? Hell no they wouldn’t but I chose to do it because it was the way I made my living and it was a way for which I was handsomely rewarded; but I put forth the effort so that I could keep the lion’s share of the financial reward! Now the leader of this Regime attempts to paint me as some sort of fat cat that laid around and sponged off the hard work of others and now I don’t want to pay my fair share; I literally despise that phrase, fair share; when is enough enough?

I eventually arrived at the scene; by this time it’s mid afternoon; the normal 4 and ½ hour trip took twice as long because of the conditions of the roads; some were closed all together requiring alternate routes while those still open barely had one lane passable; you see snow plows don’t work on Christmas eve; their drivers are among those that weren’t as fortunate as I and benefited as I did from the American way of Life; they weren’t allowed to work Christmas eve instead they were forced to stay home with their families thus I was all alone on the road! Any way when I say I arrived at the scene actually I was able to get within a mile from the scene; the last mile was on foot through knee deep snow! Now this isn’t meant to be in any way a boo-hoo poor Patriot story but for a 59 year old guy who is just a little over 3 months from his 60th birthday and retirement, trudging a mile in knee deep snow isn’t any small feat!

After trudging into the site I was faced with yet another Benefit from the American Way of Life for which I should be thankful and willing to pay a little more as our distinguished Premier says! If you canimagine 3 large engines turned over on their side leaking diesel fuel along with 22 rail cars all derailed in the space of some 500 feet. The crew had already been taken to the hospital by the local officer; the other crew wasn’t injured as they were on the opposite end from the derailment. You see one train couldn’t stop while pulling through a siding to meet another and slid out the opposite end into the side of the train still pulling by on the main line; make sense; I hope so! Well my job had just begun; first I had to arrange for the necessary equipment to be brought in so as to begin clearing up the wreck. Next an alternate plan for running traffic had to be devised so as to re-route the trains when we opened back up at 12:01am December 26. Finally and the most important of all figure out why the train didn’t stop! And all the while I sat pondering how was it that I had been so lucky to have benefitted from the American Way of Life and shouldn’t I be willing to pay a little more in taxes so that those still home enjoying Christmas with their families could have more; wow what a stingy louse I was!

Finally the debacle came to an end as they always did; it was now around 4pm December 26 and lucky me hadn’t been to bed since I was awaken at 2:45am some 60 plus hours ago; I was able to catch a few cat naps following the mile walk back to the car. All the while I was napping I dreamt of just how lucky I was to have benefitted so much from the American Way of Life and why wasn’t I allowed to pay a little more in taxes!  Thank goodness we now have a Premier heading up this Regime who will give me the opportunity to pay a little more; NOT!

I could relate 20 more such horror stories which occurred during my 37 year career; a career which provided me with a good stable income and a comfortable retirement. Now, this Regime and their Class Envy legions want to take more of what I made so they won’t have to curb their out of control spending. As information the last four years since I retired I have paid; $97,124, $102,826, $40,457 (an off year) and $90,101 in taxes. How damned much more do you want from me?

I guess in summation what I’d like to say is I want you all to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,

"I'm as mad as hell,

and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"

PP - What a great way of describing our current situation. We have a group growing in numbers who wish to take from a system they have never contributed to. Many seem to feel just by virtue of being here and breathing our air they are entitled to dip into this pot. Now this statement will run many the wrong way, but fair is fair. Now we have many believing that because they won't work, those of us who do work and contribute should automatically share with them. This thought process is beyond my understanding.

I agree, Patriot. I'm ok with helping someone who is busting their hind ends to provide for their family through scrimping, cutting corners and working 2 or 3 jobs. But it really burns my grits to see someone sitting on their lazy butt, smoking a cigarette and popping the top of a cold one all day, every day simply because it's easier to let someone else do the work. No one is entitled to anything except to which they have worked for.

Everyone pays taxes...buy a stick of gum, you pay taxes. $250,000 is adjusted income. I can turn a million dollars into $249,999 in ten minutes.

As for those lazy bums some of you speak of; they get no more breaks than the lazy rich bums. The 47% who you claim don't pay any taxes...are you including corporations?

Correct those who wish to take from a system they have never contributed to feel ENTITLED because of the work of this Regime and their willing accomplices in the press over the past 2 plus years. Remember our Snake Oil Salesman N Chief’s own words; those that have benefited most by our way of life should pay a little bit more!

As I tried to put forth; you benefit from our way of life based on your individual effort and HARD WORK; not because you somehow are ENTITLED TO IT!

This corporations pay no taxes thing just keeps coming up over and over. I own a small incorporated business, and I darn sure pay taxes. My employees also pay taxes on the wages they earn. Granted, some LARGE corporations do not pay taxes due to favors and loopholes in the tax laws. But I assure you most or all small corporations pay taxes.

My friend WillStarr also points out that when corporations do pay taxes, this cost is merely passed on to the consumer when the good are sold.

Looks like some fact checking is in order for those who keep saying that Corporations don't pay taxes as their blanket statement.

I understand your frustration and many people like you take dangerous jobs sometimes under awful conditions, plus they work too many hours just to have a decent retirement. I consider $2,000,000 a year in a rich bracket, not $250,000. The government needs to cut expenses and quit planning to tax the 53% of the people paying taxes. I think your hub pointed out what many people are feeling. Rated up.

So the wealthy pay a lot of taxes but the extremely wealthy do a pretty good job of lowering the 'effective' amount they pay. Currently the 500+ richest people in this country pay an effective rate around 16-17%. Partisan, if you make 300k, you are going to pay 35% in federal taxes. Seems unfair, right?

Here is the challenge, even with dramatic spending cuts, there will most likely be a deficit. I don't think people should be punished for being successful but how many CEO's are rewarded with multi-million dollar payouts for running companies into the ground? How is this possible? The board of directors approves compensation and the board is made up of their fellow peers. So the way it works is that I sit on your board and approve your massive pay package and you do the same for me. I can give you 100 examples off the top of my head of CEO's wrecking companies but still walking away with golden parachutes.

Understand Partisan, when people are saying that the rich do not pay their fair share, it's not an attack on the small businessman who assumes a lot of risk but makes 300k per year. It's the wall street money club guys who make millions (hundreds of millions) by selling investments to their clients and then shorting those same investments. Ever wonder why 98% of the financial advisors in this world are paid when they make trades for their clients and not paid based on actual performance?

First and foremost I’m not wealthy; I am retired living off approximately 80% of what I brought home while working. The reason I paid such high taxes 3 of the 4 years listed above was the first year I cashed Options in order to pay down debt and the other two I had back to back weddings to pay for; son and daughter.

The purpose of this rant is that most of what I have is in stock options which expire over the next few years and I am now faced with losing more and more of their value because this Redistribution Clown wants to raise my taxes as if I were one of those 500 + richest people you refer to.

I agree the problem with our present tax plan is the extremely wealthy do a pretty good job of lowering the 'effective' amount they pay. I would kill to pay only 16-17%. Yes I agree, if you make 300k, you are going to pay 35% in federal taxes and that is damned unfair! Now Karl Marx Obama is aiming to get more from me!

The difference between you and I is that I don’t begrudge CEO's their multi-million dollar payouts for running companies and unfortunately making mistakes that run them into the ground. I begrudge those on the other end of the spectrum more for “sponging” off the system and using their time, energy and effort to figure ways to soak the system and get even more for nothing all the while screaming that I should pay more. At least the CEO’s are highly educated people that have risen to their present level by hard work over the course of many years and for the most part bust their collective asses to make a profit for their companies.

People may be saying that the rich do not pay their fair share and not be referring to the small business owner or fat old retired guys such as I but in the warped world of this Regime they have their sites honed squarely in on me and the small business owner. If most people realize they will not get the wall street money club guys who make millions (hundreds of millions), then don’t support the proposed tax hike and the way not to support it is not to re-elect Premiere Obama to another destructive 4 years. Plain and simple, you’ll never get the real rich’s money but will destroy the middle class such as myself by increasing taxes. The only way to rectify the situation is to come out with an across the board flat tax. Only by making everyone part of the solution; i.e. the flat tax will get the 47% that paying no taxes presently, will we solve this problem; otherwise the country will continue on its present road to ruin until the Regime eventually runs out of the 53% that pays taxes money!

I am partisan patriot's brother. I/We are two of four brothers who's parents worked from "sun-up to sun-down" to raise the family...and we didn't sit idly by. I went to work at 10-years old and will retire this summer at 69 years old. I have tried to be a good citizen; I give to worthy causes; United Way, American Red Cross, Heart Fund, etc. I am retiring not because I have a large pension and a "storehouse of money", but because I am worn-out. I have heart trouble, I loss sight in one of my eyes, I have Myleo Fibrosis, just to name a few health conditions. My older brother and I began working when he was 12 and I, 10-years old. I have worked hard but I have a great life. My wife and I have three children, all hard working. I know my brother "partisan patriot",and I know he has worked hard all his career.

I work with business people including manufacturers, and I can tell you, the laws in our country have destroyed the manufacturing sector, especially the durable goods secor...and that is the area of industry that hires the most people who are not highly skilled. Taxes, taxes, taxes are driving our industry off-shore. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if you ask people who have worked for a living if they are better off today than in the past, I believe you'll discover they will say a resounding no!

Read the book on Harry Truman. He is one of the most amazing people this country has produced. He believed in helping those with less, but he knew if you help too much, they will take advantage of the system.

Ralph Deeds profile image

Low wages in China and elsewhere and blind acceptance by both parties of the doctrine of free trade have destroyed manufacturing in the US. The taxes here are actually fairly low compared to other countries. Many manufacturing companies, including GE paid NO taxes last year despite making huge profits. The current tax law allows US companies to avoid taxes on un-patriated overseas earnings which they pump up with unrealistic transfer prices on components made in other countries.

As you point out, the problem lies in the dead weight of 47% of the population not paying taxes. Those who are are literally "playing golf with a dead man"...hit the ball and drag Charlie, hit the ball and drag Charlie. You view is exactly the view the productive ones soon develop under socialism. "Why should I work and produce anything if they are simply going to take it away and give it to someone who does not work...why shouldn't I be that someone? You see, in Obama's mind, the problem is not the spending or the debt, the problem is where is the money we need for the spending going to come from? This is a guy who claims to have graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School...apparently there is no common sense required to achieve such a feet because he surely does not exhibit any as President. Ralph Deeds profile image

Ralph Deeds 5 years ago

Just curious, where did you get the 47% figure? Sounds high to me. Everybody who's working is at least paying Social Security tax, sales taxes, and real estate taxes from home ownership or indirectly in their rent. Most of the analysis I've read ranks the U.S. tax system among the most regressive of all advanced countries.

Someone making $106,000 cutoff pays $4452 or 4.2% Social Security tax. A hedge fund operator making $10 million pays $4452 or .04452%.

The 9% unemployed thanks to the Wall Street banksters aren't paying much income tax, but they are still paying sales and real estate taxes. We won't cure the deficit by taxing the unemployed. Moreover, much or most of the current deficit is due to the recession that started in 2007, two wars, the Bush tax cuts for the richest Americans and the unfunded Medicare drug benefit signed by Bush.

Patriot - I am beginning to realize that when the economy gets a bit rough everyone screams for a quick fix - "take it from the rich" or "those public employees make too much money" or, or, or....

Your point is well taken. You worked hard for your money. Number one - why are we taking from the retirees anyway? These are the people we should leave alone in my opinion. They worked hard all of their lives, saved instead of squandering and now deserve to keep what they made. My grandmother used to say - "take care of your dough ball."

I have contended for a long time that we should just have a national tax, which would evenly disperse the burden. That way - all could determine if they wanted something that was taxed - they could determine for themselves - buy it and pay the tax associated with it - knowing full well ahead of time the cost - or choose to do without the item.

My dad is a retiree and living with me now. He also worked hard all of his life. He used to be called to work as an engineer at all hours of the day - often with little sleep and off he would go without any complaining. I do hope when you arrived tired (and I am certain you were) after a derailment though that you chose not to take it out on those engineers. From what my father shares he often tried to tell the officials why they should not not put substantial weight in addition to the alreay extensive weight on the rearend of the train which were already equiped with cushion drawheads (causing some challenges at times) and/or would advise for or against other decisions that were made in the name of profit - if the officials had heeded it could have prevented some of those derailments. Now do remember those engineers and crew were already on the road in the first place on Christmas Eve and day away from their young children and they would have liked nothing more than to see their children opening their gifts with that special magic that only young children have also. I digress - sorry - had to put that plug in for the hardworking and loyal crew also.

Now why would I say this about the retirees? If we do not allow people to be in a position of taking care of themselves, they will become the responsibility of hard working people presently who are already burdened with caring for able bodied people who are not working - some of their own choosing - some not.

I do not have a problem helping those who need help. I have a problem helping those who are capable. I have a problem with waste of government.

To those of you on here who took this hub as a poor me - I think you need to reread. I did not take it as a poor me story at all but a call to address the balance of taxing those who work hard for their money. For those of us who are still employed - think beyond Patriot's story - think of yourselves one day retired and no longer with the potential to earn income other than what you have tucked away for your golden years - would you want someone taking it from you? Let's support one another here. If we target one another instead of the government - the "big guy" wins.

Please tell your wife and mother-in-law - Happy Mother's Day - Happy Mother's Day to all mothers as a matter of fact and to my mom who is celebrating her first Mother's Day in heaven.

partisan patriot 5 years ago

First and foremost happy belated Mothers Day; I’m sure your mother is looking down with pride on her beautiful and intelligent daughter who gave her bragging rights in the heavens above in the “well if you think you’re something just look down there at my daughter”; now moving along at the subject at hand.

Unfortunately there are those out there that make a living out of screaming; “take it from the rich”; both companies and people; they are known as Democrats. That remark is in no way intended to persuade your neutrality; it’s just my political perception based on 41 years of political observation; that’s the number of years between college and present day.

As for those screaming take it from "those public employees make too much money"; you are familiar with that World War II poem Remember;

First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.

That’s the way I see some people; take from anyone else as long as you don’t interrupt my ENTITLEMENTS; whatever those entitlements may be!

As for your second point; we shouldn’t be taking from the retirees anyway; I believe we shouldn’t be taking any more from anyone. The solution to our present problem lies in Cutting Back as opposed to charging ahead with even more deficit spending. We’ve discussed before there is enough waste and duplication to get a good start on reducing the deficit. Then eliminate the anti business policies of this Regime; starting with Healthcare and the economy is well on its way back! I’m with your grandmother, leave my “dough ball" the hell alone!

We are 100%, possibly 120% in agreement on the national tax idea. Call it a flat tax or whatever you will but there is no more equitable way to properly disperse the tax burden than a Pay as you Go system. The problem with that proposal is we already have such a large percentage that pay no taxes, they will never support that idea. This 47% are the ones the Democrats constantly preach their Class Envy Rhetoric to; again not meant to persuade you in any way; just my observation!

On a personal note I worked hard to never take it out on my employees. I’ve been retired over 4 years now and I still have former employees stop me and talk for as long as I’ll stay. I feel I had an excellent relationship with all; well most of my employees. It has been said 92% of your employees need little or no supervision; that 8% never liked me because I made them do their job or they eventually eliminated themselves; I merely conducted the proceedings through which they were released.

I am familiar with your dad’s problem with tonnage; there was a constant struggle between engineers and (usually) dispatchers regarding moving tonnage. As we moved forward our technology improved where we had our own version of the airlines black boxes; if a train separated; broke a knuckle or pulled a drawhead then we could “pull the tapes”, analyze them and determine if the engineer was actually at fault or not. This took all the guess work out of the process.

I know those two trains in my scenario were manned by good and loyal crews who were also working on December 23, 2006. The difference was those crews were relieved of all responsibility once the calamity occurred; that’s when my personal hell began! It’s all a moot point now but we all resent time away from our families and especially our young children! I’m sorry for the time the RR took your father (daddy) away from you as a young child; I know that’s something you can never get back!

In conclusion all I can say is Trimar, I’m glad you’re my friend and I got your back!

Thank you once again for your kind words. It was a bittersweet day. My own children and my students were wonderful to me - both for teacher appreciation week, wishing me Happy Mother's Day and my own children making me feel special. I did miss my mom dearly but hope you are correct that I am making her proud.

I hear you in not taking money away from anyone but unfortunately we both know that is never going to be the case. They are going to take from someone. Thus, until, if and when they do come up with a plan to make the taxing more equitable - let's at least look at ways to stop taking money from people who will not have an income growth potential - our retirees, our people with true disabilities, our veterans who cannot work. I know I am repeating myself but let's stop the waste; thus, we will not need to keep burdening certain targeted groups.

The time is coming people for change. Whether you like it or not - people are fed up. The Donald Trumps of the world are speaking out. Whether you like him or not - they have power and can get things accomplished. Pay attention - again - you do not need to like someone to find there is truth in their words. You do not even need to agree with them but there is almost always some truth in what is being said. If nothing else support their right to speak their peace. I personally like it when someone who has a loud voice speaks - it keeps the right people on their toes. If you accept a position of leadership - you should be willing to answer to the people.

Wow, this hub is absolutely hilarious! You could actually put this as satire, even if it wasn't intended to be.

You poor poor guy...you have to get out of bed on Christmas Eve because there was an accident with your "fleet" of trains. What a jerk! Wow! Do you have food to eat? How big is your house? How many bathrooms do you have? Are your kids hungry? Do they have health insurance? When was the last time you went 3 days without eating because you couldn't afford it? Do you realize it was YOU who made those train workers work on Christmas Eve, while you were initially off? Good freaking LORD guy! Are you kidding me? This has to be a joke.

partisan patriot 5 years ago

Texas Pete

First and foremost sorry it took so long to get back to you but I’ve been away for a few weeks spending some of my money before you and your Socialist Regime can take it all from me.

I’ll ask you the same battery of questions; do you have food to eat; how big is your house; how many bathrooms do you have; are your kids hungry; do they have health insurance and when was the last time you went 3 days without eating because you couldn't afford it? My guess the answer to all these questions in your case is yes; I’m also guessing you are the typical liberal who wants to take away everyone else’s money while keeping your own. If you’re so concerned about those you apparently are pleading for here then give more of your own money. I detailed in my hub above the amount of taxes I paid for the past 4 years; my guess is I paid more in one year than you did in the four years combined. That’s what’s wrong with all you liberals; you scream tax the rich while taking advantage of every tax break available to you in order to protect your own income! Margret Thatcher had it right when she said; the trouble with Socialism is you eventually run out of other people’s money.

An finally no; I didn’t make those train workers work on Christmas Eve, the service dictated the need to run trains and in this case these were crews that were more than happy to work. You see, they received double time and ½ for being out there and had they done their job properly they would have been home on Christmas Eve morning enjoying the time with their families.

Finally one final suggestion; change your moniker from Texasbeta to Moscowbeta or perhaps Socialistbeta; you are an embarrassment to the conservative state of Texas!

I’ll include it here for you to read and see if you agree with me it should have been published! As for my shirking my Responsibility and keep up the good fight; I’ll always oppose Democrats at every turn.

By the way; good to hear from you Old-New Friend; take care! Here’s the Hub!

Bin Laden didn’t stand a Chance Against I, Me, My and Mine,

Well folks; he did it; our illustrious leader has done what no other president; intelligent agency; military mind or any other entity on the planet had been able to do; he single handedly eradicated Osama Bin Laden! As he stood before the teleprompter with his nose poked 45 degrees to the north east he smugly told us how He, Me, My and I accomplished this amazing feat.

Sure the military played a small part as did the CIA, Special Forces, Navy Seals but everyone that’s anyone knows the lion’s share of the credit; at least 99.9% goes to the illustrious Leader of this Regime; the Crème de la crème; the Alpha and the Omega; none other than Barrack Hussein Obama, Ummmmmh Ummmmmh Ummmmh!

As he stood poised solidly in front of old Tele; nose perched aloof; he began to explain how I, ME, MY and MINE and He single handedly brought about the demise of Osama Bin Laden. The CIA wanted to fly drones loaded with missiles over the compound and drop the missile but I said no; I would personally fly the helicopter with the Navy Seals on board and land it inside the compound; of course I realized the last 50 miles I would have to glide in so the noise from the rotorrs would not awaken Bin Laden’s forces as they slept.

Once inside I was the first to exit the chopper and take out the three security guards standing watch without firing a shot of course; they were all disposed of with the use of a blow gun; a weapon I learned to use while growing up in Kenya. Finally I lead the Seal Team up to the second floor where I broke down Bin Laden’s metal door with just My shoulder. As I was just about to seize Bin Laden, one of the Seals dropped his rifle and awakened Bin Laden. Of course at that moment I was left with no other choice but to start shooting and placed one round precisely in Bin Laden’s left eye and the other directly into his heart.

My intention all along was to capture Bin Laden, Mirandize him and return him to U.S. for a fair trial where he would be provided the best ACLU attorneys around; but because of that clumsy Seal; I uuuuuh mean brave Navy Seal who made a mistake, I was forced to take him out.

Let Me clear something up here for once and for all; much has been said regarding the trail we followed to Bin LADEN; uhhhhh just how was it developed. First and foremost none of the intelligence I used was the result of George Bush’s illegal enhanced interrogation methods; these brave enemy combatants were not tortured into confessing as Bush and Chaney repeatedly did. No I was able to find Bin Laden’s whereabouts first and foremost by uhhhhhh promising those that provided the information we would do everything within our power to bring him in alive and provide him with a fair trial; uhhhhh let the chips fall where they may if you will. But as I have related above, uhhhhhh that was not possible because of the mistake of that Navy Seal who will be court marshaled!

Now, as for Pakistan’s concerns about Al Qaeda sympathizers in their country; I assure you there is nothing to worry about. I will personally visit Pakistan and meet with Al Qaeda; once I explain it was George Bush’s fault and now Bush is gone Al Qaeda will simply dissolve and go away.

Finally that initial report giving the CIA along with many other National Security Agencies, the Navy Seals, Army Delta Forces and the remainder of our Special Ops some credit for the operation is this very minute being re-written. From hence forth and ever more everyone will know this was Barrack Hussein Obama’s greatest triumph; how I single handedly took out Bin Laden!

Ain’t America wonderful; God Bless America and may Barrack Hussein Obama Bless the World!

Partisan - I do have to agree with you on several accounts on this one. First, Obama drives me absolutely insane with the way he points his head in the air with superiority. I have a teenager who does the same thing. Of course, I know she will grow out of that self-centered stage. He does like to present himself like he is someone. I find that people do that when no one else is.

I cannot figure out why the hubpages blocked you from posting this. They are usually fairly liberal in allowing people many points of view. I find that for the most part they seem to only have a problem promoting links with affiliations that they do not support.

Glad to hear that you are getting some sun and some golfing in. The sun joined us on Saturday and peeked out on Sunday just a bit.

His smug sense of arrogance comes through as he thrust his nose in the air; it makes me sick every time I witness such a display of distain for the Common Man and Woman! As for your teenager; they all feel that they are the center of the universe at that age but come college time they quickly realize just how small their personal universe was but you know this already; you’ve already raised two perfect sons!

Part of why they kept rejecting the hub was because they said a large part of it already appeared in a previous hub; the only forum any part of it ever appeared was in an answer to Breakfast Pop on one of her hubs about the sickening speech. I assure you the only one I ever plagiarize is myself.

As for the sun; I’m already sporting my midsummer tan and enjoying every round of Rich-Old-Retired- Republican-Guy-Golf I play; what sort of sports do you like?

I have a question. While I agree with your remarks concerning our present president and his desire to tax the middle class into the lower class. I am dismayed at the way hubbers such as your self and Willstarr, Whom I useally agree with, Treat Texasbeta. I useally disagree with his comments but find it sad that his being a Texan or should I sat True Texan, is called into question.

Personally I figure a person who is born and lives in Texas is a texan. I don't believe everyone in texas is a clone of John Wayne. Am I wrong?

First and foremost welcome to my hubs and thanks for stopping by. I normally respond in kind; i.e. if the person commenting on my hub does it ion a logical and polite way such as trimar who often disagreed with me but wasn’t disagreeable then I am inclined to treat that person with respect and respond accordingly.

I wrote a hub Inside the mind of a Socialist which was more of a point Counter Point back and forth between myself and a Socialist beyond the Pond. I always like to use the phrase which I actually coined “I respect your right to be wrong”!

As for calling his Texan status into question I did so in what I thought to be a humorous way; if you’re truly from Texas and all that state has come to represent over the years; individual freedom, strong self reliance and so forth; well if you’re really from that state you couldn’t possibly be a Socialists!

Obviously I missed the mark with my humorous satire! Thanks again for stopping by.
