India Who Rules - ( Gujarat-Part-3 )
Chief Minister of Gujarat for 9 years.
Model State of India.
The Chief Minister of Gujarat is Mr.Narendra Modi a name feared even in Pakistan. His huge State's border with Pakistan is not his worry but its Pakistan that is worried. As a Chief Minister of the State of Gujarat he is putting up a world class Monument to " The Iron Man Of India " a statue he calls as " The Statue of Unity " which will be the tallest statue in the world being built on the Narmada River Sardar Sarover Dam to be reached only by boat. His vision is to develop the place as a source of inspiration for ages to come.
It will have a high-tech museum, chronicling 90 years history of India’s freedom fighters (1857-1947). Going much beyond a structure it will be developed as a research and academic center for preserving the unity and integrity of India, its rich culture and heritage, for research on agriculture which was dear to Sardar, for research on tribal life and so on. Thus, it would be standing high not just in meters and feet but much more in terms of academic, historical, national and spiritual values.Such a vision and tribute for a man who united India and forced such state as Hyderabad with a war by sending the Indian army when the ruler of Hyderabad wanted his state to be merged with Pakistan. If some one else was in his place we would be having a little Pakistan in South India today..
He allowed TATA'S Nano Plant to come up in his state when there was trouble in West Bengal to allot 1000 acres of land to put up the world's first cheapest car at a place where there was no industry. He personally took up the paper work required for granting govt land to TATA'S and cleared all hurdles there by the car could hit the road with in 20 months a world challenge for TATA'S to shift from Singur to Ahmadabad.
Textile giants Bombay Dying & CENTURY TEXTILES shifted from Bombay ( Mumbai ) to Ahmadabad. After Mr.Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat the State witnessed an unprecedented grownth and past 9 years has emerged as country's only state with power generation exceeding the demand in the state, this is some remarkable achievement when every state in India is having power shortage and impose power cuts for as many hours as they want taking a margin for their inefficiency and knowing the theft that people do by hooking up wires from pow er lines by farmers, many rural folks or real estate builders and industrialists small and big. There is a National Power Grid controlled by the Govt which can create power shortage in any state except Gujarat.
