If they say they don't, their in denial, and secretly do. Sounds crazy because of how its government toss out anti-great satan-rhetoric against America like a pathological freak. Its citizens are no doubt sick of hearing it, yet remain silent to stay out of trouble. Makes sense. But the Iranian people, largely, like and want things American or at least Western. If the current government ever falls and is replaced, odds are it will be more pro-West. The whole thing is a love-hate relationship but in their minds. not ours.

Like many countries to say they hate America or the West, they love its fashion, clothes, technology, cars. Iran's favorite items are Levi jeans, Apple iPhones, old American cars, hip-hop, skateboards. You see all these things frequently in Tehran. You see German cars frequently as well. Iran even, by law, teaches English from Jr. High through college and they are not elective classes. But, isn't this the language of the Great Satan? I know, I know, such a conundrum.

The US sanctions have had only an impact on the lower class in Tehran. The middle class to a lesser extent and none whatsoever to those who live in Northern Tehran-the rich. Yes, Iran does have rich families. In fact, the rich sections of Tehran are acting like sanctions do not exist. Buying $100 Levis or expensive jewelry is just a second thought. People go work out in large Western-style sport clubs, take a Jacuzzi or sauna, drive their BMW or Mercedes to a juice stand for carrot juice.

For them, one of their favorite things is going to buy American high-end bakery items @ Sweet Bliss, it is THE place for American cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, bear claws and other pastries. Some of the sculptured cakes cost $50. Sweet Bliss was started 10 years ago by a mother of two out of their home. As she sold her goods in local shops, the desire for American sweets hit an Iranian sweet spot. Her biz now employs 36 people and they have just opened another at a new location.

Oh, Sweet Bliss is on Facebook.

Intersting hub - voted such.

I think the French, Germans and English have given the world much of its progress and technology in the past 300/400 years or so (Renaissance forward), so there's little to dispute there. I think many Iranians and other people from all over the world have a dislike towards America for different reasons, some of which are personal, others might be jealousy...
