Is America a Judeo-Christian Terrorist State?

Recently I read a Marathi book written by renowned writer Sanjay Sonawani which discusses various aspects of terrorism. I have reviewed the book on my Marathi blog.

In his 152 pages book, the author has discussed the history and present of terrorist activities by various religious groups in the world. He writes about Hindu, Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Sikh terrorism in detail. Apart from this, he has also discussed about Financial, Cultural and Political terrorism; and Suicide terrorism.

He has drawn a conclusion that most of the terrorist activities in the world are related to religions, the religions which are actually out of dated.

Here I would like to discuss the terrorism by Jewish and Christian terrorists, and how US itself is a terrorist state according to the writer.

About the Book

The book has 12 chapters. In the 2nd chapter, the author discusses the ancient, medieval and modern history of Jewish terrorism. In chapter 3, he discusses about history of Christian terrorism. He has given brief information about Christian terrorist organizations like Ku Klux Klan and Army of God in US and North East Army, National Liberation Front of Tripura and National Socialist Council of Nagaland in India. The author accuses that apart from such groups, many Christian countries are involved in world level terrorism and US is the biggest terrorist nation which has covered Christian terrorism with state terrorism. To explain and prove his statement, the author draws our attention to following points:

1. U.S. is a Christian Nation, although not officially.

2. In modern history, U.S. has never invaded any Christian Nation. U.S. always has invaded either Islamic or Buddhist or Communist countries. As communists are atheists, they are enemies of Christians, author adds.

3. U.S. is using Jewish terrorism against Islamic countries as a weapon.

That are thought provoking points by the author. To check the author's statements, I checked the list of the countries attacked by America. Here, attack means direct war, or missile attacks etc.

Here is a list of such countries. I have excluded the attacks before Second World War and included the attacks from 1945 to 2012.

Some Countries Attacked by USA

Muslim Countries attacked by USA/ Year
Iran: 1946, 1953, 1980, 1984, 1987-88

Vietnam: 1954, 1960-75
Laos: 1962, 1971-73
Cambodia: 1969-65, 1975

It is a remarkable thing that US has attacked some countries having Christianity a the major religion. But most of such countries are from Latin America having an affection toward Socialism or Communism.

Further, USA has always supported Israel in its wars against Muslim countries.

Do all the things suggest that USA is a Judeo-Christian terrorist state?

Muslim terrorists are not a country, and they attack innocent civilians. They torture, behead, blow up, and they do it in the name of their God. The US doesn't do any of that.

Larry Wall's statement is very complete and I agree with him totally. As a nation we are certainly not perfect but find a certain bias in the information presented by the original author. Good Hub -- Best/Sis

No, the conclusion of the author is wrong and represents one-sided, pre-determived view of research. The Ku Klux Klan was never a Christian organization. The organizers may have claimed to be Christians, but based on their actions, they missed some Sunday School Classes along the way.

Communist nations are filled with Christians. The government may muse Communism as its method, but that does not mean that all the people are communists.

History is important. If I thought I could have made a career out of it, I would had been a history major. I did not want to go to graduate school and knew I was not cut out to be a teacher. But history tells us what happened in the past. Sometimes, a historical event will defined something in the future. Sometimes, a historical event will cause a race, a country or a group to choose a different direction.

As a nation we are not perfect. Prejudice is a major problem. Over reacting to things is another problem, but I do not agree with the results of the author. How he covered so many topics in 152 pages gives some concern. I think he skipped a few chapters in his research material and did not read all of the footnotes.

That's the beauty of argument - all one needs to do is cherry-pick some examples from the past and argue that they apply to the present. Every country that exists today has done things they are ashamed of (or should be).
