CLUCK, CLUCK - HERE COME THE CHICKENHAWKS

The political pundits in the United States loathe those who disagree with their tunnel vision of how things should be. If an individual or group dares question the infinite wisdom of these political hacks and their biased and skewed ideology, then one should be prepared to hear the common thread of comments similar to, “Well then, get the hell out of this country.” Bulletin, bulletin…this is my country too and I am not going anywhere. The nonsense that bellows from these outrageous remarks come from many who never wore a uniform and gleefully took their military deferments rather than serve the country they claim to love so much. These chicken hawks proudly wear their flag lapel pins as they ship off sons and daughters of others to fight wars in far off lands. While they love to talk the talk, these blowhard cowards do not have the muster to walk the walk. An avalanche of vitriol will bury those with differing viewpoints.

POLITICIANS, POLITICAL HACKS, SHOCK JOCKS AND FEAR MONGERS

Also interesting to note are the number of politicians, political hacks, shock jocks, war hawks, fear mongers and pundits who continually spew the hot lava of hate from the mountains they have built out of intolerance of others and their belief of a new world order. We have all seen them, heard them, read their inflammatory articles and felt their wrath one time or another. They are covered in the flag while marching to slogans of guns, guns and more guns. They profess their adoration of God and country, yet simultaneously shunning nonChristians and those who are not a part of the caucasian population. “Love it or leave it,” is the theme echoed by the “REAL” patriots. Do these folks actually believe the words that come out of their mouths or are there other hidden reasons for the vile verbiage and attacks which are thrown at the rest of us, every second of every day?

THE KOCH BROTHERS BOUGHT THEIR WAY INTO POLITICAL POLICY MAKING

My own personal opinion regarding the motivating factors for many of the above-described individuals is money. At the top of the list are the Koch brothers who are probably the most persuasive and powerful two men in America today. The Koch boys buy favor from politicians, organizations, lobbyists and anyone else who can be bought and sold down the polluted rivers and deregulation's they purchased. The Koch’s are interested in one thing and only one thing…maintaining their wealth. They subscribe to the age-old thinking that money buys power and influence and left unchecked, great wealth can and does corrupt in astronomical proportions.

IDEOLOGY GONE AWRY

The public is blasted with the flaming tongues of dragons. The fire-breathing beasts are Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Greta van Susteren, Karl Rove, Sarah Palin, Laura Ingraham, Neil Cavuto, Geraldo Rivera, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, Joe Wilson, Rush Limbaugh, Scott Walker, Dick Cheney, Jim Demint, Glen Beck, and Orrin Hatch, to name a few. I honestly do not think for one second that if those named were cast into a lake of pure utopia that they would agree everything was fine. After all, where would their audience and ultimately their money come from if everything was copacetic? Peace…the only peace those named want is a piece of your dollars and the dollars of advertisers, lobbyists and anyone else who will fund the nonstop ideology of a movement gone awry.

WHO REALLY DEFENDS AMERICA

Of the Coulter’s, Hannity’s, Cheney’s, Beck’s, etc., how many went into battle? How many wore a uniform? How many of their sons and daughters served in the military? While they went to college and their children were sent off to college, those in middle America and America’s poor go to war in Iraq and Afghanistan. The latter is representative of the true patriots in this country and not those behind the curtain pulling the strings of rhetoric. Men and women in uniform do not exhibit a lust for money like the people I have named in this article. No, the veteran groups of real patriotic Americans are the ones who risk their lives day in and day out so that the top 1% have the freedom to fill the airwaves with smoke and mirrors and false commentary with little to no factual basis for the opinions expressed.

WHAT HAPPENED TO COMPROMISE

If you noticed I did not name left-wing pundits or politicians then you are correct. I didn’t name them because, by and large, I feel they are more in tune with the common man and woman in this country and are not the card-carrying members of the elitist group on the right. Granted, there is a fair share of left-wing hacks who are too far out there to follow with any seriousness, as well. However, because I may not agree with you philosophically or politically, I do think we can and should work to compromise, yet the right side is immovable. The mega rich have anchored their yachts in the sea of despair for the rest of America. Still, I’m not asking them to leave because we don’t agree. Heck, they've already done that by moving their money offshore or to the Cayman Islands or God knows where else.

Now you tell me who the real patriots of this country are?

Dennis, Wow..your frustration is showing and...it's sexy! You had me at "spew the hot lava of hate from the mountains they have built out of intolerance", and, I may actually need a cigarette after reading: "The later are the true patriots of this country and not those behind the curtain pulling the strings of rhetoric" - and i don't even smoke! OMG, that was good! Was it as good for you? (Aside from a couple of those know-it-all asses you mentioned that i still have a modicum of respect for - I agree 100%)Voted upup, and awesome! Tweet,tweet..

I don't do rough drafts when I write passionately about subjects like this one. The words just jump out of me, almost as if I have a nervous twitch. The election this year with Cain, Perry, Trump, Gingrich and the likes have turned things into a circus side show and it ain't pretty. The world must think we are a bunch of ignoramuses. As Forest Gump said, "Stupid is, as stupid does." Manischewitz wine....what is going on is enough to drive a person to drink.

Ain't it the truth. Why the hell aren't people listening to us smart folks? LOL

To those who respond with the "love it or leave it" mantra, I quote Thomas Jefferson: "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism." And I'm pretty sure it's ideas like that one that makes conservatives want to ban Jefferson from school textbooks---in Texas, at least.

And it's most telling that Liberals are villified for espousing the same revolutionary ideals that conservatives praise America's founders for believing in.

I think it's a shame that so many Americans get their politics and worldview from shock-jocks, such as the ones you mentioned. And you're absolutely right about the financial incentive behind their vitriol.

I love this hub and I'm glad I discovered you on HubPages. Such kindred sprits are rare in these here parts. lol

Voted way up!

Thank you Charles for your detailed response. For some strange reason, people who speak and act with clarity are becoming fewer and far between. Is it the intimidation factor from those with opposing views that keep the left leaning or centrists silent? Well, I for one can not and will not be silenced. Shoot, I just got done watching Rick Santorum pretty much say Obama wasn't a Christian, that contraception should be banned and that we should do away with federal and state financing for our schools. Apparently we are turning into a regressive country and not a progressive one.

I totally relate to your sentiments here. I come from a long line of military family members - and a great number of us are liberals or liberal leaning. To say that one group has a monopoly on Patriotism is absolutely maddening. It is a slap in the face to many people who have served or are serving to have others say such vile things.

I look at politics lately and it saddens me that this is what we have become. I agree that spite and insults get us nowhere - which I believe is exactly what the politicians/lobbyists want! As long as we are so busy arguing amongst ourselves and pitting ourselves against each other we don't pay attention when things like "Citizens United" are done to us. I could go on (and on and on lol) but I won't. Awesome hub!

Thank you for your detailed response ChristinS. I'm sorry for not answering sooner...I don't have a clue how I missed this. I was born an Army brat with my dad being a combat veteran of WW II and Korea and he is now buried in the veteran's cemetery. If he were alive today I'm sure he would be disgusted with our current affairs. I know that water boarding would have sickened him as it did me.

Isn't it amazing that the hawks are also the same people who gleefully took military deferments and NEVER wore a uniform? Thank you again.

Your writing syle is only surpassed by the content of your message. I have been so angry and my anger grows more and more daily. The ridiculous remarks by the Republicans only shows their own ignorance. Unfortunately there are many unfortunates that believe their foolishness. Keep on keeping on my dear friend.

Thanks for your comment Charlie. I didn't even realize you had this article. Forest Gump said it best..."Stupid is as stupid does." Boy there is a lot of "stupid" out there.

Absolutely right about the hawks, the loudest ones have never served! Their brand of "patriotism" makes me nauseous.

On the Koch brothers, did you know they got involved in school board elections here in NC? Trying to resegregate us. The John Birch Society does run in their veins, not just greed!

Thank you for reading and replying to my article. I agree, regarding the Koch brothers and their horrible view of how this country should be. They are major polluters of our natural resources and now they are polluting our politicians and policies as well.

If I could provide a little "balance" to the discussion. Although I'm not a right wing nut, I will defend the Koch brothers briefly. Their foundations provide millions to universities (around 300?), hospitals and other cancer-fighting organizations. By the way, some of those colleges are in the SUNY system. Is that blood money? They also provided millions to the ACLU to fight the Patriot Act. There are two sides to every story and every person.

Yes, the Kochs and their foundations have contributed millions of dollars to universities. However, unlike most college donors, the monetary gifts from the Koch brothers do come with a caveat. They make agreements with the universities that allow them to be involved in the hiring of new professors regarding economics, capitalism and the promotion of libertarian ideas. The monetary donation to to the ACLU was to assist in the fight of Parts 15, 16 and 17 of the Patriot Act. The Kochs don't give with an open hand. There are always strings attached to anything they contribute.
