It's Time for a Real Change

Politics should not be about what religion you believe in, what gender you are, or who you want to marry.

These should not be things that the government has control over in any way. All should be treated as equals. All should have thier own freedoms and rights, and free will. If we choose to do something, we live with the consequences or rewards. Their should be certain taxes and laws, yes, to keep the world in order, but there should not be greedy, discriminating politicians, etc. in office trying to make up these new laws that do not benefit society or the economy in any way. Or people that misuse their power. If a woman has good reason to abort a child she should have the right to do so, and it is no ones business but her own and her family, if 2 guys or 2 girls want to marry because they are in love then it is no one elses business but their own. These things do not hurt anyone, people need to stop being so butt hurt and concerned with shit that doesnt concern them and worry about their own damn lives.

Everyone should be able to get a job and make a living, (minumum wage increased, and cost of living decreased) and everyone should be able to provide for themselves and their families. Our army and our teachers, firemen and police should be paid more and the government, senators, president, celebrities, football players, etc. paid less. This just goes to show you where our priorities lie. Our taxes should go to things like education and road work and hospitals and not to support those who have no job or make any effort to get one. The government should be responsible for providing them with one, and they should pay taxes that go towards unemployment and welfare until jobs are provided. No one should be homeless, there should be proper, clean homes for those who have no where else to go, also funded by the government. Granted part of our taxes go to the governments salary (all the more reason they should be paid less and others paid more, government paid jobs like the above mentioned that get paid next to nothing).

Marijauna should be legalized and not just to smoke (which should be legal for medical purposes every where) but we should also be using it (hemp) as a resource. and there should be solar powered energy available to everyone, that we should use as much as possible. People need to stop obsessing over making the next dollar and worry about making the world a better place. Recycling and throwing things in the trash and not on the street. The Judicial system needs to be uncorrupted and worry about getting the real bad guys and not those who just happen to get caught during quota, (like, yes, my occasional speeding tickets.) Really 10 or 20 miles over the speed limit on a highway is no biggie, yet a ticket will cost a hundred or 200 bucks. Why? Because they want their money. When they should go after those going way faster with no regard toward other drivers. These are just a few of the things I think need real CHANGE, a word thrown around these days, but yet I see no change for the better. I see families struggling to make ends meet every month. I see people with no jobs, and criminals running loose, and celebrities and football players complaining because they arent getting paid enough...

There is no good way to end this rant of mine but thanks to anyone who takes the time to read it and to those who agree, I hope we can do something to make these changes. And that is not voting for Obama or Romney in my book, (or any of the recent candidates and elected). I have never voted and the day I do vote is when I believe a guy elected can and will give us this CHANGE. Change where it is really the government itself.

If you have read my recent rants about the government and the sad state of affairs in this country, you know that I agree completely with your rant. Keep speaking the truth and I'll keep reading.

Wow, this is different from your other hubs, Nikki. I know people are up in the air about who to vote for, and who will do more for America. I agree about the Govt not interfering in aspects of people's lives and gender and marriage issues. Those kind of things affect me personally. You touched on good points here.

About the hemp thing, I am not too up on that subject. I didn't know about recycling. Cassy was in the Netherlands and they legalised it there. And amazingly the sky didn't fall on everyone's heads, as had been predicted. But there is tolerance and a kind of openness there that is born out of non-judgemental broadmindedness. And perhaps something more.

I do worry that the divide between the haves and have-nots is growing wider. And personal freedom and liberty is almost more an aspiration now than a reality. Why society as a whole can be so wealthy in some ways and yet so starved of certain values or degrees of wisdom... that just bugs me.

This is a great hub, Nikki. Never be silent and never be afraid to speak your mind.

Thanks Cathy. I have never taken any interest in politics nor have I ever voted or am i even registered to vote but I think it is something I will consider doing in the next election. Its too late to now. I find it hard to vote for either one of our candidates. I dont like either one of them, but if theres other things to vote on then I probably should get my vote out there. Yes, freedom is only an illusion, we are held down by so many laws, and rules, and regulations, and a greedy government, and corrupt judicial system, everyone is just out to get their money. We are a country held prisoner by money. I dont feel either candidate has the country or the citizens best interests in mind. All of the things I mentioned, what does that have to do with running a country? Keeping us safe? Getting us jobs? Keeping us out of debt? Everyone should be able to choose and have their own decisions and moral views, in the end God is the judge. but people are ignorant and cruel, and greedy and have no common sense. and the government, the media, they want to keep us stupid.

They can only keep us stupid if we let them, Nikki. I agree with lots of things in what you say. Wow. Maybe America should be more like Europe in some ways. There's nothing wrong with being American in the true sense, but being more open and tolerant would go a long way. I remember Cassy telling me about a trip she made to Singapore from long ago in her work. She was blown away by how great everything worked and ran smoothly. A tiny country barely the size of a city and being one of the three or two richest countries on Earth.

I have so much more to learn and discover. The election was fun to watch here on TV. The British media made fun of Romney's "Binders of women", and both candidates attempts on TV to avoid answering questions. I can't see any fundemental difference in the Republican or Democrat party ideologies. They both want a two-party Govt system and won't tolerate a Third, which sadly is what the USA needs.

I wonder will we ever see a two-party coalition running the country at some point. like the UK? there's a thought...

Great hub, Nikki. :)

I fully agree how politics is mired in messy grandstanding and manipulation. Your take on the subject shows how much it has alienated the likes of us... hope there will be a breath of fresh air that will blow the stale self obsessions away...

America has come along way, but I just wish they made presidents like they used to. Bring Abe back, or jfk or Clinton even, everyone loved him. since Bush jr we have just been going down hill. Its not about our welfare anymore its about money and power. and it doesnt matter which side you are on, they both just tell different lies in different ways, they focus on issues people want to hear and side with them how they think they will win votes, issues that should not matter, and the larger issues they ignore. I wish more people would realize this and look beyond their affiliated party and vote according to better standards, or not vote at all even, vote third party if the candidate is better, which i believe he was. I just think a lot should be different and we would be much better for it.
