It's Time to Put a Halt to Immigration

Once Upon a Time in the New World

Beginning in the 1500s, people from mostly European families wanted to flee their homeland. They were persecuted for various reasons, they had no way to better themselves, and yes, they had a pioneering spirit that got them through the harsh reality of immigration.

The early North Americans were hardy and determined to make a new home for themselves in the lush, fertile ground of the 'new' continent. They had to fight the natives, they had to fight the strangeness of the land, and they had to adapt or die.

But the one thing that made these immigrants special was their determination to make a new life for themselves. They didn't want to bring all of the things they were trying to escape. They came knowing that they would never go back.

The goal of nearly all immigrants to the New World was to start a new life. They wanted and expected everything to be new. A new government, a new start, and a more perfect way of living. They literally burned their bridges and didn't look back.

The Grass is Not Greener!

It is easy to see why most immigrants want to leave their home country. It's not so easy to see why they choose immigration over improving their own homeland.

In any survivor situation, save total disaster, the best course of action is always to stay put. To leave your comfort zone and take on the unknown is a bad decision that usually results in death. You almost certainly will end up in a worse place than when you started and lost as well as in danger.

To uproot one's whole family and way of life to immigrate to a foreign country is also a bad decision and should only be done as a last resort. Communities should stick together and work to improve their own known way of life.

To pick up and start over in a strange place is beyond survival, it's an invasion of the host country!

Native Americans lost their country, their way of life and their ability to survive and thrive due to the immigration of the European settlers.

One Million People per Year!

According to http://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/frequently-requested-statistics-immigrants-and-immigration-united-states#8 :

"In 2012, 1,031,631 foreign nationals became lawful permanent residents (LPRs), also known as green-card holders, according to DHS data."

Once, this country was free and open. Now it is becoming overcrowded, dirty, and scary.

How many years do you think it will take until the U.S.A. becomes so overcrowded by immigration that we will no longer control our own country?

Our Current Country Cannot Survive With So Much Immigration!

How much longer until our country is no longer ours?

Je Suis Charlie

In recent weeks, we have seen yet another terrorist attack by immigrants to a country that supports free speech.

Anderson Cooper went straight to France after the disastrous terrorist assassinations that were carried out by Muslim terrorists because they felt insulted over a cartoon.

Cooper reports that the Muslims in France tend to isolate themselves in certain neighborhoods and the police are not welcome because the Islamists are still running their communities with Sharia law instead of the laws of France.

Why don't these immigrants go back to their home countries? Why move to a country only to try to tear it apart?

If you picked up your whole family and moved to a muslim country, would you not expect to abide by their laws and customs? Would you not expect to assimilate into the country you have chosen to live in?

Now Call Me A Liberal!

Most people on HP think of me as a Liberal - Like that's some sort of a bad name. But to me, being liberal means to support the basic human rights that we are born with.

This means, among other things, to support the survival of my home and country in whatever manner that makes sense. Common sense.

Native Americans didn't want to be invaded and overcome by immigrants, but now that we have established our country, such that it is, it is time to stop the "Rivers of Blood" that will occur by continuing to allow immigration to our home.

A highly complex subject to say the least. I still have very mixed feelings on immigration to this country in regards to the long term effect that is bound to happen.

I object to people coming here and refusing to learn to speak English. I object to the Feds not deporting the criminals including sex offenders back to where they came from.

I have no problem with anyone trying to make a better life for themselves and their family as long as they do so legally. But our immigration system is so broken that it is nearly impossible to immigrate legally these days. It requires years of time, money, and tons of paperwork.

I would hope our government will not allow the "No-Go" zones to be setup in our country like they are in France.

If we don't stop immigration, Old Poolman, we are doomed. We are allowing people to run away from their home problems instead of solving the crisis they are running away from. The thing is, that they aren't capable of assimilating to our way of life.

They will destroy our country just like the immigrants destroyed the Native American cultures! And we are the ones giving them the green light to move here!

Apparently we cannot learn from history's lessons!

You are 100% correct, we don't learn anything from history. I'm not sure they even teach history in our schools anymore.

It would seem we need to do at least two things right away. That would be to seal our borders and to streamline the legal immigration system. We have the resources available to tighten up our open borders, but they are not allowed to really do their jobs. We now have a "catch and release" system in place. Many of our current policies are purely politically driven by those hoping to gain votes for their party.

There has been talk for many years about "fixing" our immigration system, but nothing ever changes except the people doing the talking. Could it be that difficult to fix this broken system? I doubt it if this was given a high priority.

Our politicians throw the word "change" around like it is something they all want. Yet nothing could be further from the truth. Our politicians like the way things are in Washington and want nothing to change.

You are also correct that unregulated immigration can and will eventually destroy this country.

OP - I think we need to get the defense department involved. They have a huge budget and need somewhere to spend all that money. I know it's a scary thought to go from "border patrol" to actual military control of the borders, but we need to do it and we need to do it real soon.

There are already terrorist groups here. It's just a question of time before they get the order from their Imams to start "avenging their prophet" here on US soil.

First of all, let me just say that I agree with you that being labeled a liberal is not a bad thing because the focus of liberals is on equality among the masses versus being in bed with billionaires and big business. However, my view on immigration is a little different than yours. Whether we want to admit it or not, people from around the world have different religions and Isis and Al Qaida are religions, as far as I know. The majority of Muslims do not share these two groups extremism, just like the majority of Christians don't support many of the Bible thumping done by zealots who preach their way or the highway from the pulpit. John McCain mentioned that we need to wipe Isis off the face of the earth. However, it is impossible to erase some people's set of religious beliefs, no matter how outlandish we think they are. Let's not forget, many of our homegrown terrorists are neither Muslim or from foreign lands, but instead they are Americans who subscribe to acts against the rest of us that we have no comprehension of what their real motivations are. The sad truth is we have a country...actually, the world...that is filled with misfits and people who march to a different drummer than what we consider sane behavior.

pages - All the more reason to stop immigration to the U.S. We are currently FULL. We don't need any more idiots that want to wreak havoc on our way of life. If they want to fix their own country, that would be a much better solution. They shouldn't be trying to immigrate here when they don't want to in the first place, they aren't welcome, and they can't fit in.

I like the video from the BBC that you embedded in your Hub, but I have to say it was a bit of a downer. On a lighter note (and as long as we still have the right to laugh!) I came across a video that had very light-hearted look at immigration in the US this week. Lots of laughs and lots of food for thought. It's called "Half Like Me", and it currently can be viewed for free in the US on hulu.com. The third segment of the show is a conversation between the half-Mexican comedian Al Madrigal and anti-immigration activist Jim Gilchrist.

I tried to go to Hulu.com to watch that video, but they want me sign up for a free week again. I don't like Hulu. Tried to find it on YouTube, but no go. I've done other immigration hubs and have even been involved with some friends from Mexico trying to come to Texas. It's just the biggest mess.

But coming from the Native American view, there is no question that allowing immigrants to this country is disastrous. Anyone not born here needs to go back home now.

Decline Hulu's offer. Search for "Half Like Me". As a teaser, it also includes an exclusive interview with a famous Hollywood personality who admits that he used a coyote to get to the US.

OK, finally found it and watched it. Hilarious! I sort of feel the same way. I have lived in Mexico and I am descended from the Choctaw N.A. tribe. So, my story is A Third Like Me - LOL.

I grew up eating N.A. food and going to powwows as well as TexMex food and Baptist churches. Then I learned to speak Spanish and started going to Mexico on my own. My family was horrified that I would go to Mexico.

Given how often politicians give into demands for special treatment to immigrants, western women who wish to keep their freedoms should resist the imposition of Sharia Law anywhere in the country. Limiting immigration is one way to do this. Western women who do not realize that honor killings, not being able to drive, requiring a man to sign off on every thing you do, and wearing burqas could come with increased immigration and our politicians insisting that we tolerate intolerant belief systems. When ISIS insisted that they have the right to rape and enslave women just because they practice the "wrong religion" or no religion; that should be all the warning an intelligent liberal woman would ever need. You do not want that here.

I for one do not understand why so many people WANT to move to another country where everything is totally different. We are most comfortable in our own homes and surroundings and within our own culture. The grass is NOT greener in another country. It is far easier to improve your own culture than it is to adapt to a completely foreign culture whether it be ours or theirs. The reverse is true. We should not be wanting to immigrate to other countries either.

We may want to "think global", but we really need to act and LIVE local!

One of the best hubs I have ever written. Besides Native Amaerians, we are all immigrants. Hopefully the immigration policies can change in the future to make everyone happy.
