Living In a Dictatorship

Spider Harlotte is at the Table

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, March 16, 2015. Our creative friend, Spider Harlotte, is here with me this morning. She is quite upset with the direction our nation has taken under the dubious leadership of President Obama. Harlotte has asked for the pleasure of your company this morning. She prepared a delicious breakfast pizza for your enjoyment. We look forward to your arrival.

Not My America Any Longer

Thank you all for agreeing to share breakfast with me this morning. I was in a rather pensive mood last night and a disturbing thought popped into my head that I just can't let go of. This great nation of mine has grown unfamiliar. I am no longer comfortable and it all stared in earnest when Barack Obama came into office. Since his election, slowly but surely, our country has been transformed into a parody of representational government. I no longer have any representation. Yes, I have elected people who are supposed to look after my interests, but that is no longer occurring. We have a Constitution, but now it is in name only. Our president has no respect for it, and it is clear that he never did. He has assumed authority that was never his to assume, and he has expanded his role in very dangerous and unheard of ways. Although the Constitution clearly spells out what the president's role is, this president has re-written the playbook. He is not authorized to write laws. He is not authorized to change laws. That job belongs to Congress. Sadly, The Democrats are okay with the trashing of the Constitution, and the Republicans appear powerless to stop it. I live in a dictatorship now and I don't like the feeling..

Source

Going, Going, Gone...

This is not my America any longer. President Obama has taken over all of our government agencies. Under his watch, the IRS has become an instrument of retribution. They have gone after groups that dared to criticize the president. The FCC is assuming control that it was never meant to have. The EPA is an arm of the White House, punishing anyone that gets in the way of an agenda manufactured by this administration. The Department of Homeland Security no longer answers to the people. Instead, it now has decided or been persuaded that it's job is to protect Muslims. Every agency under the sun has been "changed" and not for the better. President Obama has done it all with his trusty pen. He never so much as glanced at Congress, and in doing so, he never looked our way either. President Obama has usurped the power of the people by imposing regulation upon regulation that have served to undermine the functioning of our government. Our rights have been abridged by agencies that have assumed runaway powers they were never granted. I live in a dictatorship now, and I don't like the feeling.

Source

The Wheels are Off

I don't appreciate a president who is proud to say he "will go it alone, if he has to." He should have said that he prefers to go it alone. From the moment he came into office he shut his opponents out of the game and disenfranchised millions of American voters. He continued to blame the Republicans for not cooperating, when the truth was that he never asked for their cooperation, their input, their ideas or their participation. The Democrats, forgetting that they live in a democratic nation, were happy to go along with the charade. The mainstream media, forgetting that they live in a democratic nation, were happy to distort the news, promote the lies and cheat the public out of vital information. We are six years into this nightmare and the rule of law has been eroded. We are six years into this nightmare and the damage that has been done is devastating. I live in a dictatorship now, and I don't like the feeling.

Stopping the Madness

I am trying to find a way to believe that we can make this right. I am trying, but I am failing. There are far too many people in this nation who do not find the trashing of the Constitution troubling. There are far too many people in this country who do not care if they are lied to. There are far too many people in this country who are not at all troubled by President Obama's unprecedented rule by executive action. To those who say other Presidents did it as well, you are right, but you are also incredibly wrong. Other Presidents did not use executive action to circumvent Congress and the American people. President Obama likes the idea of a one man show, and his friends in Congress, the media and the public like it too. I live in a dictatorship now, and I don't like the feeling.

The majority of the people don't care. It's unbearable for those of us who care. Obumma's actions are paving the way to make it almost impossible for anyone who is not an uber liberal to be president. Sad state of affairs.

Pop and Harlotte,

I have tried to find a way to assure you that everything will work out OK but I can't and I don't like it either.

Good Morning taxlarry,

I will never understand anyone who prefers a dictator to a president. I will never understand anyone who chooses control over freedom. See you at the Inn.

Good Morning Tom,

Thanks for trying, but you are a realist with a firm grip on reality, so making this better really is a stretch! See you at the Inn.

Only hoping praying and exercising my right and duty to vote ...Now my problem is this ...

It seems that no matter who walks into those hallowed halls is suddenly seized by some delusions of grandeur that guide their thinking.

I was raised to believe in the ultimate good...and I will refuse till my dying days to believe otherwise....but I know things must change else we will lose all of our basic freedoms.

I pray there are some good and honest people who will enter our government and bring sanity back once again.

Thanks to Harlotte for joining us today.....

Angels are winging their way to you and to those who would lead our country out of this mess ps

Thanks for telling it like it is. I am thinking that our next President will play a critical role in the survival of this nation. There is not much that we can do about the remaining time this President has left to serve.

If we happen to get a new President who agrees with the Obama mode of operation, we are pretty much doomed. We can only hope and pray we are able to elect a new leader who can undo some of the damage that has been done and move us forward.

The really frightening part of all this is the number of Americans who have been dumbed-down to the point they approve of the Obama policies. They welcome the idea of being "government slaves" where in trade for their individual freedoms, all of their basic needs are taken care of by the government. They don't care that opportunities to rise above this slave type existence are limited or non-existent, as long as everyone gets exactly the same entitlements.

They can choose to work or not work, and still live exactly like their friends and neighbors. Nobody will ever have more "stuff" than they do and the love this concept.

This administration has been allowed to do what they have done because so many agree with the direction they are taking this country. If they didn't, we would be hearing and seeing more protests regarding the destruction of our once great and powerful nation.

Those we elect to prevent this type destruction have placed themselves in a class above "we the people" and could care less what we want. Many of them are actually strong Obama supporters who agree with what he is doing.

My fear is we will never recover from this damage and this great country will never be back to what it once was.

Good Morning Mike,

If someone of Obama's ilk gets into the WH, that's it! There will be no way back from the great abyss. If someone decent gets in, we may have a prayer. Obama is doing everything he can to fix it so that those with their hands out, far outnumber those who want to work for living. Witness the flood of illegals into our country. All of them will be the kind of voter Obama and his type want. Once that is a done deal, America will be forever changed. See you at the Inn.

We are in total agreement in the last paragraph. There are far too many people in this country who don't seem to give a damn what is happening in politics, even though it affects them daily. Here's hoping the public gets over their complacency soon.

Good Morning billybuc,

This is the same public that voted Obama in twice. I just don't see an awakening happening. This administration will stop at nothing to "change" us forever. So far it is full speed ahead for them, without any significant opposition. See you at the Inn, billy.

It remains true,

Complacency is the enemy of democracy. Too many people are willing, if not happy to sit idly by, watching their television, eating their chips and letting the country go to the dogs.

Namaste.

Good Morning Deborah,

I know so many people exactly like this and, it boggles my mind. They are so absorbed and entrenched in their daily routines that the possibility of anything happening in the world affecting them is not real to them. We are ripe for the kind of "change" being inflicted on us. See you at the Inn.

Good one.

It is interesting and disturbing that Barack Obama taught Constitutional Law. The problem with constitutional law in the area of the Executive Office is that there is little Supreme Court decisions on it. When an issue comes up about the Executive Branch, they have to fall back to Marbury v Madison, I believe 1837.

So there is no real case law to interpret the constitution on the executive branch. The constitution is not the words it contains, it is what the Supreme Courts say what those words mean.

That is what happened to the Constitution in this century. The SC made politics part of their decisions. I also think we have to change the simple majority of five to four decisions to at least six to three, and even better seven to two.

The founders are also at fault, because they didn't detail the structure and purpose of the SC. They gave that task to congress. The SC evolved to the nine justices we have today, and at one time it was fifteen.

My point is that too many adverse American Interests are being rubber stamped to make what should be unconstitutional, constitutional. And what should be constitutional, unconstitutional.

I just found out that Thomas Jefferson said that a Standing Army was unconstitutional, and he was against having West Point be a vehicle for creating an elite army of military officers. Fortunately, he wasn't in the majority, and he lost that argument.

So how many other differences were compromised when the constitution was drafted.?

I need a stiff drink, oh I see the makings of an egg cream. And I spy a buttered Kaiser Roll. That will soothe my frayed constitutional nerves.

Dear brad, (it's simpler like this)

We do have three branches of government for a very good reason. Remember checks and balances? Well, thanks to this corrupt administration, we barely consider Congress or the Supreme Court. Obama is a one man show and that should never have happened. If Obama really studied the Constitution, he must have hated every minute spent doing so. Spike that egg cream!!

I agree.

The Congress failed as a check and balance of the other two branches.

The SC failed, and continues to fail.

The Executive Branch has taken advantage of these failures.

So, the checks and balances simply failed.

Added Baileys.

The answer to all this insanity is wrapped in the enigma of the turn-right-on-red laws. Thanks to a short common sense law, you can turn right on red lights in all the states and it is only prohibitive in a few uppity cities like Los Angeles and New York which say you can't turn right unless there is a sign saying it's OK to do so. Now we need our country to turn right so we need to replace a bunch of crappy, lefty laws with simple rules and we need to hire people who will allow enforcement of them. The Democrats will find their polls showing Queen Hillary will replace Herr Obama quite misleading. Traditional Democrats have fled and are fleeing the party in droves, leaving it to be ruled by the likes of Debbie Wasserman-Shultz and Howard Green. The heart of the remaining party will soon find themselves a minority. Independents will be a formidable force in the next election and I believe the party which puts forth the candidate most willing to allow turning right on red will mightily triumph.

Dear Gawth,

Your scenario makes sense to me, but nothing these days actually turns out the way it should. How anyone can tolerate Debbie Wasserman- Schultz is beyond me. How Obama got elected once, much less twice, is beyond me. How anyone could stomach Hillary is a mystery to me. If today's Dems end up a minority, we will be saved and I will be a very happy Independent! See you at the Inn.

And then there is his treatment of reporters who try to tell the truth: "The message has already been received: if you cross the administration with perfectly accurate reporting that they don’t like, you will be attacked and punished. You and your sources may be subjected to the kind of surveillance devised for enemies of the state,” Attkisson stated in her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Pop,

I had a very emotional reaction to your words. I even teared up as I read through this. Perhaps I am just having a pensive, even melancholy day, but I am more inclined to say you tapped into some feelings that I didn't realize I felt with the depth that I felt it, and how personally I felt it. You so eloquently and accurately put into words what I feel as an American, and as an individual as we have watched Obama strip away any sense of security and trust that the president and the whole political system and process are in any way for me. I know there are some who really do care and are working hard, but as we've seen, there is no political power for the most part but one - Obama.

I realized as you described O's systematic, strategic disarming and thumb nosing of constitutional law and process, and the American people, that I feel violated, disrespected, unvalued, very personally as well as part of the people of America. I fear a future where we the people will have little to no representation, and many will be persecuted (which has no begun in a small way but rapidly snowballing) for exercising freedoms which have been gifted with, revered and enjoyed for nearly 240 years (is my math close?).

I don't want to be dramatic, maudlin, or an alarmist in the extreme sense, but I don't think it's an exaggeration or overreaction to say this nation is on the cusp of becoming a dangerous one to live in. Actually it already is in many ways, most of all to unborn children. But I am speaking of a far greater danger than ever before. If something big doesn't happen soon, we will no longer be on the map as the leading nation of the free world, and perhaps not even a nation of influence, freedom, prosperity or security in small ways. Worst case scenario, perhaps not a nation at all (I hope that IS an overreaction).

I feel fearful of the future because I feel helpless. It's as if 2.5 centuries earlier we were given a massive gift box filled with smaller gift boxes full of rights, freedoms, blessings, opportunities, power, systems, protection, and dozens, maybe hundreds of other good things with a solemn directive to revere and honor them, cherish and enjoy them, be faithful to them, be good stewards of them, and to defend and protect them. And now, insidiously but rapidly, box by box, they are being limited, corrupted, overridden, withdrawn or destroyed. Although presidents and administrations, congresses and senates in the past have done many wrongs, our current president and administration have taken it to a whole new level, and it seems from my view, it's purpose is to destroy those gifts, not just to corrupt it for selfish gain.

Jesus once said, "If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand...In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house" (Mark 3:24-25, 27). Now He said this in another context - Satan vs God. But it certainly is a truth applicable here.

You used the word dictator; it's feels that way more and more for sure sometimes. The worst thing to me about dictators, they have utter disdain for their people, or at very least apathy. The best thing about them is that they always fall at some point, as do most world powers. But the people always get hurt the most.

I cling to the Lord for my strength and hope that is eternal, and I pray every day, "Come quickly."

Dear savvy dating,

Obama is vindictive. He uses agencies of the government to harass anyone or any group that dares to criticize him. Now he is influencing Israeli elections, because he hates Netanyahu. There are and have been so many grounds for impeachment, but yet he prevails. Perhaps the idiots in Congress are afraid to impeach the first black president. Get a life! See you at the Inn.

Dear lambservnt,

Your moving and brilliant commentary left me breathless. You get it, you really do get it. You aren't being maudlin or dramatic, you are being realistic and seeing things the way they are now. If more people were like you, perhaps much of this would never have happened. Something strange and awful is occurring in our nation, and those we elected to represent us are asleep. Keep praying..... See you at the Inn.

When I saw that Bebe might lose, in the paper today, I was quite dismayed---actually alarmed is more like it. This absolutely cannot be good for Israel. Are we seeing the results of an effort to try to fool all of the people all of the time? Is Obama's response to Lincoln's quote about not being able to fool all of the people all of the time "Yes We Can"?

Good Morning savvy dating,

Netanyahu is going to have a tough race. The Arabs in Israel are going to do their level best to oust him. Obama's interference is grounds for impeachment, but then again there are so many grounds for impeachment. If this isn't the end of times, it is the end of democracy. See you at the Inn.

Good morning FitnezzJim,

The hideous thing is that all of the lies Obama tells can be proven to be lies very easily. Sadly, with a press that is complicit in the lying and an electorate not motivated enough to dig for the truth, Obama gets away scot free. See you at the Inn.

You are spot on as the Brit's say. We have representation until they get to Washington, then it all disappears; until it is re-election time, and then they remember us. It is sickening. Obama has 21 months to screw this nation. I think he has done just about everything; but somehow I think he will find some more things to ruin our great nation.

I am off to the bar.......
