Lying is the Norm
Chiquita is at the Table
Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Thursday, February 12, 2015. Our noisy and delightful friend, Cicada Chiquita, is with me at the breakfast table. Chiquita is sick and tired of people voters elect or choose to revere who turn out to be accomplished liars. She has asked me to invite all of you to breakfast to discuss this issue. Chiquita will be preparing fake eggs and fake cheese formed into a faux omelet, all in keeping with the topic of the day. We are awaiting your arrival and that, dear friends, is the truth.
No Moral Compass
Thank you all for joining me this morning. It is a sad, but not unusual, day for America when we find out that people we have been brainwashed into trusting, don't deserve our trust at all. NBC anchor Brian Williams, now suspended, is the perfect example of what I am referring to. He came into the homes of Americans every night (not my home) and told us what we believed to be the truth ( not me) about current events. Mr. Williams told his audience a story a number of years ago about his close encounter with death during the invasion of Iraq. Over the years since the first telling came out, he embellished the event. At least two times he told viewers that his helicopter was hit by enemy fire. The story unravelled recently when Stars and Stripes presented Mr. Williams with the true story. In short, his account of the incident was fabricated. His excuse, in my view, was inane. " I don't know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another. No, we never came under direct enemy fire in the aircraft." It would have been better if Mr. Williams simply said that he lied, because that is what happened. He didn't conflate (great word) one aircraft with another. He told a false story and he told it many times. I guess he just couldn't stop "conflating." Mr. Williams has been suspended from NBC for six months. If he comes back and Americans embrace him again as their trusted anchor newsperson, shame on America. It is time that liars are outed for what they are, LIARS."
Williams Has Company
Lest we think that lying is unique to the NBC anchor let's turn our attention to former First Lady Hillary Clinton, turned Secretary of State and potential presidential candidate for 2016. Remember (and we all should) Hillary Clinton's hair-raising tale of being shot at by snipers in Bosnia. She told a rapt audience that she remembers landing under sniper fire. She and her entourage ran for their lives. That would have been scary had it really happened, but it did not happen. I can only suppose that the truth in Ms. Clinton's view was boring. She went with the lie and aside from some commentary on the matter, she got away with it. Her only explanation was that she made a "mistake" and that she was sleep deprived. Then, of course, there is the Benghazi terror attack. We may never get to the bottom of her lies in this matter, because she has perfected the art of evasive action when it comes to testifying. Perhaps Hillary learned her craft from her husband who did not have sex with that woman!
The Clintons have Company
Secretary of State John Kerry can count himself among the growing legion of liars. When Kerry was the Democratic Presidential candidate he told many a tall tale. Kerry proclaimed himself a hero during the Vietnam War. His tales of heroics never matched up with the truth as told by soldiers who were there with Kerry. These soldiers report a John Kerry who was less than heroic. Furthermore, John Kerry went on to lie some more about an incident he said he experienced in 1968 in Cambodia. He recalls sitting on a gunboat being shot at by the Vietnamese, the Khmer Rouge and the Cambodians. He recalls that Nixon was in the White House. Well, perhaps Mr. Kerry misspoke back then. Lyndon Johnson was still President of the United States. Kerry could not have been in Cambodia at that time because in December of 1968, no U.S. Navy patrol craft would be ordered to enter Cambodian waters. Kerry couldn't have been fired upon by Khmer Rouge because this group wasn't formed back then. The truth can be so inconvenient, can't it?
John Kerry is Not Alone
Al Gore loves a lie as much as the next guy. Al Gore's movie an 'An Inconvenient Truth" predicted the end of the world as we know it. Mr. Gore claimed that the polar bears were drowning because they have to swim farther to find ice. The only study that exists that cites the drowning of polar bears blamed the deaths of four bears on a storm. Climate Change Al had plenty more to say on the subject, but it is way to tiring to go into it. He says whatever he wants and that's that. Then again he did invent the internet, so we should just trust him to tell us what we need to know to survive in this world. The scariest thing of all is that he was our Vice President!
Al Gore is Not Alone
No discussion of lying could be complete without mentioning the President of the United States. President Obama decided a long time ago that if a lie is needed to get his point across, then he was prepared to lie 24/7. After six long, tedious years in the White House, we still don't know who he really is or where he really came from. He could have solved those unanswered questions long ago, but he chose not to. Sadly, voters knew virtually nothing about this inexperienced stranger and decided to put him in the White House anyway. He has no desire to come clean about anything and in fact it is becoming clear that he is micromanaging all the investigations attempted by Congress to get to the heart of all the scandals including trouble at the IRS, Benghazi, the Veteran's Administration and the Bergdahl fiasco.
The only place to go from here is to make a conscious decision that lying is serious and revealing about a person's character. American voters need to demand more of those they place in positions of power and authority. Lying matters. American voters need to reject those that have been exposed as playing it fast and lose with the truth. Lying matters. I can hear the voices now saying that all politicians and media personalities lie. I don't believe that is true, but way too many of them do lie. Those that lie to us need to be booted out of Washington, off the airways and out of our lives forever. Lying matters......
I'm Chiquita Cicada and I'm here to say
I wish all the liars would just go away!!!!!!!

They say that the truth can be stranger than fiction. Whoever "they" are, they are right!
The election is over, yet still being constested. Fidel Castro is dead, and the MSM is mourning his loss. Does any of this make sense?
CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour has a false and distorted view of journalisn in America. Her opinions belong in the international arena. Bringing Donald Trump into the mix is ludicrous.
