Making Congress Irrelevant

By Hook Or By Crook

Regulatory Adventurism Is The In Thing

Yesterday flying in under the radar was I ever in for a big surprise. Along comes the Regulator-In-Chief buzzing by in the opposite direction. There he was in the very theater of operation where I was conducting my reconnaissance. I knew I must be in the general location of his secret base on gun control so I hit the after burners and took a good look before arming my missiles for this report. I'm sure you noticed the headline and that is the crux of the matter. Obama, being the spoiled child that he is, seems intent on getting his way even if Congress presents an obstacle.

Most of us have heard about the UN Arms Control Treaty, whereby we surrender our sovereignty to this useless body. I'm not fretting too much about that because it has the same chances of being ratified by the Senate as a snow ball has of making it in hell. So there had to be another angle that Obama and his side kick Holder had in mind to get their way about gun control so I was out looking for the angle and I found it. Some of these things are harder to ferret out than others and this one was camouflaged well. I had to look in The Greeley Gazette, of all places, but there it was. The headline read: OBAMA: "I'm working on gun control under the radar. " To find under the radar stuff you have to fly there and I go there often in my pursuit of the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

It seems that little things like the Second Amendments, court rulings and Congress aren't going to interfere with Obama exercising his agenda any way he has to. Have you noticed that? The administration that claims it is committed to gun rights isn't at all committed to gun rights. I've gotten used to the lying and smoke and mirrors routines so I never listen to what Obama says, I watch what he is doing or not doing.

Ever heard of Steve Crowley? He's the Whine House's Gun Czar. He's also a "regulatory" wizard and has a strong background in tort law. Yes, lost among that legion of Obama Czars is a Gun Control Czar. He is intent upon achieving gun control in this nation by exercising gun control by Presidential directive. Now think about that for a minute or two. Bypassing Congress and the courts seems appropriate to this administration if it can't get its way in the manner that the US Constitution prescribes that things be done in our Republic.

Here's how this went down. Back on March 30th, Jim and Sarah Brady visited the Whine House seeking to ban "large magazines." That coincidentally, or not, was also the day that the assassination attempt was made on Ronald Reagan. They were meeting with talking head Jay Carney when Oblabber himself appeared in the room. According to Sarah, the Prez wanted to chat about gun control and fill in some blanks for the two of them about his "agenda" on the issue.

Now according to Sarah Brady the Gun Controller-In-Chief went further to say and I quote: "I just want you to know that we're working on it. We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar." What the hell. You mean the Campaigner-In-Chief who talked about how "transparent" his administration was going to be has been flying under the radar? Well, I'll be. I hardly noticed. The Huffington Post, of all places again, published an article about how the Whine House is working diligently to bypass Congress, ignore the will of the people and enact gun control through executive decree.

Supposedly the DOJ has also been holding pow wows laying out various options for controlling our Second Amendment rights by enacting regulations of its own or using adjoining agencies to achieve their ends. Why are they going through all of that if, as Obama contends, his administration is committed to gun rights? I think the cat is now out of the bag about the truth. His intent is to grab control of every facet of a citizen's life. Leftists are like that. They love control. When queried on this issue administration officials admit that they are looking at a host of options, including this one, that President Obama and his minions are examining.

Dudley Brown, says this comes as no surprise to him. Dudley is the President of the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners outfit. He put it this way, "It's clear that President Obama and Sarah Brady have been using the ATF to enact what they can't get through Congress: a ban on the importation of self-defense shotguns, new reporting requirements for multiple rifle sales and the attempt to smuggle firearms across the border to Mexican gang members are just a few examples."

The acts of this administration regarding regulatory adventurism should come as no surprise. If they can't get it through Congress then do the end around and try regulating it, thereby making Congress irrelevant. Who needs them anyway? I write a lot about this sort of thing from health care, to financial services, with a smattering of labor policy. So now let me throw in gun control. Obama is a radical and if Congress isn't biting on his radical hook then he'll end around them and attempt to rule by decree. Must I remind Obama that this is a democracy and not his toy to try out his radical ideas, agendas and concepts?

It will be interesting how this sort of thing flies with his Democratic buddies in Congress. This is a subject that Congress shies away from and the courts have landed squarely on concerning the Second Amendment rights of the American people. How radical do those legislators want to appear to their constituents in places like Nebraska, West Virginia and Virgina, not to mention Missouri?

Transparency? It was so dark the night I flew in there under the radar I had to use my night vision goggles, but I saw him and I'm sure he saw me.

In closing, I leave you with this. The First Amendment is the cornerstone of The Bill of Rights. The Second Amendment was put in place to insure adherence to the First Amendment. We don't need to "change" that Obama. Get it?

As Always,

The Frog Prince

FP - This is great information, but probably nothing we should not have expected. This POTUS could care less about the rules, and will do practically anything to get his own way. I would hope our elected representatives are aware of this plan and are watching out for us. But that will remain to be seen. I never thought I would live long enough to see this type action by our own President and his cronies.

Plus a few other "cute" moves such as the quiet outlawing of reimportation for something on the order of one million WWII vintage rifles, telling the Supreme Court they don't need to take a look at Obamacare because after all he-the-Lord-of-All has already determined it's Constitutional, etc....

Well done. Up and across--your description of your own aerial patrol is definitely funny as...well, it's funny, okay?

One of the first moves Hitler made in order to consolidate his power and nuteralize opposition was to confiscate all the guns!

You know the first thing I thought of, Frog, when you mentioned Obummy and his minions? Those cute lil yellow guys with big goggle eyes running around like idiots in the film, "Despicable Me." Come to think of it, doesn't that title resemble our fearless, transparent (?) leader?

Like American Romance said, "from my cold dead fingers." I can promice you this though. While they're prying that gun from my fingers, they'll be putting a couple a dozen of their own in body bags. I'm not into crazy millitant crap, but this is a serious matter. If conservatives will commit to vote and bring a friend to the voting booth, we won't have to worry about this bum messing with our guns past 2012.

I cannot imagine our own military, police and Janet Reno's remnant of jack booted thugs turning against the whole nation. At some point they gotta stand up and say... uh wait a minute... thats my family and my house over there.

But entertaining the supposition that they did and came to take our guns, it seems to me that 70 million rifles and pistols etc, are like pea shooters compared to our military munitions. We toppled Saddam's Iraq in what... 5 days? I guess his Elite Republican Guard wasn't that Elite.

Perhaps while all our military guys are over seas dodging road side bombs, the Chinese could invade up through Panama since they control it now and have a large military presence there. And since we cannot pay China back for the money we borrowed, they will just cut a huge chunk out of America to cover it, the Mexican military would probably help them if they thought they would get the Alamo back.

And all the tree-hugging, dirt-munching loonies will love that because the Chinese do not give two cents for the environment. There goes all your wilderness areas, forests and natural resources, - and the real kick in the pants will be - the commie-libs helped them do it by drone-stepping to the drum beat of the left.

All that craziness aside, I believe we have several treaties that require the ban of all guns after 5 years of the treaty being enacted. As I recall that was one of the poo-pooed objections to NAFTA. It is my understanding that treaties with foreign nations are the one thing that supersedes the Constitution.

They will certainly get my guns when they pry them from my cold dead fingers, but that is a separate issue.

I'd really rather see us get some real America-loving Americans in our government again, instead of the merry-go-round corrupt den of vipers that would eat their children and their future for a campaign donation - let alone their countrymen.

Good hub.

We currently have a situation now in which the President is clearly in violation of the War Powers Act and is attempting find ways to circumvent entirely. While there is some saber-rattling in the halls of Congress, there is nothing to approach a potential political action (i.e. consideration of impeachment)on Obama...at least not while Dirty Harry Reid sits in the majority seat in the Senate. Given that situation, I would say the Congress will have to grow some balls to stop this insanity. If he can pull this off and totally subvert the 2nd Amendment, then we are too far down the road to speak of recovering to our democratic self. Checks and balances were put in place for a reason...and Obama is the best damn reason I have seen since we started the process of electing presidents. WB

Excellent post Your Highness...

The day they get MY guns they will also pry them from my cold, dead hand. Who the f++k do they think they are???? Oh, right - they're the ones with the Secret Service guys, who ARE packing following their every move and keeping them safe from us, the crazy gun toting cowboys with our handguns and deer rifles. Really...

I am, as are you, in a rather difficult position should this creep get the right to take away OUR guns, while he keeps his all around him and his family. I'd like to think that our local police, Sheriff's, State Police and Army would NOT come for our guns - they just might. I hearken back to World War II - "we were just following orders." How many of the youngsters entering those professions now and in the future will follow orders without thinking twice?

In those cases, it is us who will have to make a very difficult decision. I'm NOT handing over my guns - that much I know.

Great article. Here where I live a middle aged woman was attacked in her home as she was getting out of the shower. He made her go to the bed and as she did she pulled out her 22 caliber revolver and shot him with all 6..... needless to say he is now taking a dirt nap. Thank God she had it and was able to use it. I like the idea of having my 38 for my protection.....and I do not ever intend to give it up....

Excellent article and I agree with almost all the comments. We have better get rid of Obama asap. Transparency is a bad joke. I also think Obuama is in violation of the War Powers Act. He is a joke as a leader of our nation. He makes a fool of himself frequently just like he did in England again. Rated awesome.

Three years ago I read about Eric Holder speaking to an executive meeting of the Brady Group AKA Handgun Control Inc. where he told them "not to worry about Heller-v-DC" because "there are ways around the second amendment". He was speaking to them about a total ban on firearms.

The information came from GOA Gun Owners of America...

Has anyone else heard of this?

Ssgt Waldo - First of all, it's good to see you old friend. It's a known fact that Holder is as anti-gun as they come. That should have concerned the Judiciary Committee at his confirmation, along with a lot of other things. They gave him s free pass.

I had previously heard about his statement. I bewlieved he made it then and I believe he made it now. It also should concern people that this administration denies any knowledge of Operation Gun Runner. You can find that article up at the bottom of what I wrote.

Please consider joining Hub Pages. It's a good place yto write, read and converse.

Talk about "Transparency" - for the last month I have been monitoring the calendars of the government. Except for the Department of Defense, you can find nothing about what the O-Bomb administration is doing, particularly in the State Department. The only time a calendar is discussed is when a photo-op is involved, usually involving the president. Transparency? Definitely, they cloak their activities in secrecy.

All the Best,

Tim

Tim - That's one of the biggest lies Obama ever told while on the campaign trail. If anyone doubts he said it, here's a short history lesson.

The man is as fraudulent as a three dollar bill. Sunlight? No more secrecy? HA! He sucked them in big time and some of them are still slurping the koolaid down and not paying attention.

Froggy, Up and awesome as it should be. This man taught Constitutional law at a great university, Univ. of Chicago. Don't you wonder what he taught them. My guess is that he should have been "FIRED," as he should be today. I wish some of his students would be interviewed by a journalist without an agenda. We should leave the agenda stuff to B.O. He is perfect at lying while smiling. H

Frog,

I think this discussion can be generalized beyond specific breaches of framer intent with regard to the Second Amendment. I guess my question is: does the BATFE even have the legal right to exist? While the states are not constitutionally barred from regulating alchohol, tobacco, etc., the Constitution grants no specified power to the federal government to do so. Therefore, it would seem that any federal law, EO, or administrative regulation related to alchohol, tobacco, firearms, or explosives, other than antitrust, would violate the Tenth Amendment.
