Back to Zero - A Positive approach to necessary change.

Build a new man - from inside out.

Positive is Happening

"Corporations Do NOT create jobs...... consumers do!"

As Sarah Smith Sings - The Stars Will Lead Us Home. See Sarah Smith Music for more

Back to Zero - means "Back to the drawing board." #FYP

So much talk these days about economy, world politics and the disappearing middle class. I ask myself what has mankind done? Where do we go from here? Have we learned anything important for the basic survival of mankind yet? What kind of change do we really need? Can we go back to zero with all we have learned and build a new world, a new and better man?

YES we can! We can build a new and better world, and a new and better man..... and so we shall!

Mankind has been on an incredible journey of awakening. Awakening knowledge in science, arts and mathematics. We have come so far in all of these. We have learned good from evil. Look just at science and technology and everyone who really looks, is amazed at how far we come. We can sit our butts in a seat, look out a window at earth over one mile below, and fly all over the world and surf the internet at the same time. Our amazing amazing world has changed. We now see abundance in the universe.

Why is it we have not learned to see the abundance within ourselves?

We look outside ourselves for change. We turn to our political leaders LOL... we look to business leaders..... again LOL..... we look everywhere but inside ourselves. Why in hell do we do that? What is it about looking inside ourselves that is so darn scary?

"A human being is part of the whole called by us universe , a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty... We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive." - Albert Einstein

Going back to zero with all our new found knowledge is where we need to go, and in fact is where we are going. Back to zero does not mean economically. Back to Zero means we are faced with a clean slate. A blackboard that has been totally erased and washed clean. New rules of life are being implemented and every valuable lesson mankind has learned to this point, are now put in a box with all the toys from kindergarten. Mankind has graduated, and it is time to build a new world and most importantly, build a new man.

We need to stop making such a huge deal about manufacturing "things" and we have to start making a big deal about building character.

Build a new man from the inside out. No longer running from who we are inside. We can learn to love life and love living by realizing the most important goal anyone can have is "To Be Happy Now".

The new world takes the lessons learned from the old world and throws them away. Exactly the same as the building blocks in kindergarten are thrown away to prepare us for university.

Although the building blocks of mankind are much different than building blocks in kindergarten, they are still only building blocks we have out grown. The tools (modes of belief, rules of conduct, monetary system, religions, out dated political systems) necessary to bring man to this stage are no longer aiding forward growth. The time for us to start from zero is upon us. Time to say good bye to traditions that no longer support forward and inner progress.

It is not just the middle class I am talking about, it is mankind as a whole. These are not scary times, they are truly exciting times. Mankind will become all we are designed to be. A new incredible journey has begun. Back to zero is exciting. A new mode of life has begun. Get ready to grow into being all you were meant to become.

Like a paradigm shift, Back to Zero is a new beginning. Happily, we have not lost a thing. No we have not lost a thing going back to zero, but rather we have finally grown up. The old traditions required to lead man into a new way of living have outlived their usefulness. Time to say thanks for lessons learned and throw away the childhood building blocks. Back to zero means throw away old rules and narrow minded traditions and build that new world with most importantly a new and better man. That includes, modes of belief, rules of conduct, monetary systems, religions, and out dated political systems. ALL out the window and something brand new be devised. Note - The momentum of the current mess is going too fast, and going no where, so trying to modify or change outdated systems is asinine. The momentum is going to fast and going no where. I new system is the answer. The good news is "There will not be another Atlantis lost"... we (mankind) have past kindergarten this time, and “We have been given the responsibility to build a better man.”

Willie Nelson sings with a great video message

When the "practiced belief" in the Power of LOVE becomes more important than the love of power, a new system will unfold.

Build the new, by ignoring the old.

When the "practiced belief" in the Power Of Love, becomes more important than the Love Of Power, new systems will unfold. The graphic shows this in simple understandable ways. Lobbying for change, and rallies do NOTHING. Build new by ignoring the out of date systems and watch the new path light up as we go. In the video links below is a GREAT video that explains the uselessness of "pushing against." (meaning lobbying, rallies etc)

You think I am out to lunch? See how the power of duplication will make all I am talking about come to be. The power of duplication makes the image of following the heart WAY more powerful than most people generally realize. Click Here for How to USE the Power of Duplication to make this change happen.

Are you ready to give up the struggle to survive, and really learn to love life and love living?

Build a new man from the inside out. No longer running from who we are inside. We can learn to love life and love living by realizing the most important goal anyone can have is "To Be Happy Now".

Great Quote fits this thread 118%

We would like you to reach the place where you're not willing to listen to people criticize one another… where you take no satisfaction from somebody being wrong… where it matters to you so much that you feel good, that you are only willing to think positive things about people…you are only willing to look for positive aspects; you are only willing to look for solutions, and you are not willing to beat the drum of all of the problems of the world.

The 5th Man

Dalai Lama was asked what surprise's him the most?

He replied - "Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices his money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then he dies never having really lived."

Neil Sperling's newest, and one of the best articles on current changes upon earth written recently, is here. Beautiful writing style and the depths of the mature thinker come along with the shift of human perception & the shift of the goals, making the perfect bridge for those who feel called but do not know where to start.

"Build a new man from the inside out. No longer running from who we are inside."

This statement could be used as a short description (almost definition) for ANTIPSYCHOLOGY - a new "science" and a new movement, which in my vision comes as LIFE.

Neil, you will be jolly when you realize a true dimension of this your writing. Bravo!

Beautiful piece of writing but sentiment is one thing, and action is another. This is a nice positive Hub and we all need to read this, and start believing more in our abilities. Your hub reminds me of Cathy (known to hubbers as Astra Nomik) and some poetry she wrote recently, about the possibilities of opportunity that come from within, and how we can reach our potential, and reach our goals. Your hub reminds me of her Book title, as it is similar to what you ascribe to here, Neil.

There is walking the walk as well as talking it, but we have the ability to find and learn those ways if necessary. And being united is the way we can achieve this. It's a pity the world is not a very equal place out there, and we have to find the courage to tell the younger generation how not to give up hope because of it and to carry on and create things and make and build things too.

Great hub as always, Neil. Rating up, and I am off to check on the Rubik's cube now! Cheers! :)

G'mornin' Neil:

Thanks so much for becoming a follower (friend.)

I always read a hub by a new friend and comment.

I am, in the forums, thought of as being the forever pessimist.

This response will, most likely, explain why.

Your hub is well written...but...I say this respectfully, it is pure idealism.

As time passes, change is inevitable.

I cannot think of a nation that has remained static. Yes, there are primitive cultures that have, but nations? No.

You say: "... we have past kindergarten..." I disagree.

We are in incipient species of life wallowing in an abyss of abject ignorance, immature activity and are, naively, ignoring natures basic laws for balance and survival.

We are flailing, blindly, and the "FIRST STEP" of the evolutionary ladder has not yet been attained!

Man is so fragmented at this moment in his evolution that he can not come together and function in concert to create a synergistic movement which will guarantee his viability as a species.

I wish I could agree with you Neil, but knowing man, his anthropological and evolutionary history as I do, and projecting current and coming realities into my view of his future, I do not visualize extant man as becoming a successful creature without first reducing his numbers thru the processes of a cataclysmic event and then, if he beats the possiblity of extinction, re-arising as a stronger, wiser and more dynamic species.

There is a very strong possibility of that necessary "reduction in numbers" happening in the next 50-75 yrs.

I "HOPE" I'm wrong.

Quark - thanks for making your strong comment - no doubt others who have read this hub who are on same wave frequency as you would agree with you.

"truth" always depends on the way you look at things.... and what you seek you will see.... reticular vortex at work.

To think outside the box is the solution... for inside the box there is no new thoughts.... and the world changes that are now taking place are happening due to those willing to think outside the box, create something new that is not in place... how can the old way fix things if they are the cause of the trouble in the first place?

back to ZERO "IS HAPPENING" .... look and you will see!

I am correct on this one! WE ARE "Building a new man from the inside out. No longer running from who we are inside....... inch by inch - centimeter by centimeter... minute by minute... these changes ARE taking place!

Hi Neil:

Of course a "new man" is being built. There is no doubt about that.

The problem is, that human population will almost double in less that 2 generations. That "new man" will be impotent to perform.

We here in the USA owe a debt that is impossible to pay which will result in who knows what?.

There are those, religiously oriented cultures, who are training their offspring to take out "infidels" so that they may be rewarded by allah in heaven. Life is less valuable to them that death and eternity with allah.

As human population burgeons, human problems follow suit.

They increase in geometric proportion thus fragmenting contemporary man to a much greater extent than today.

Einstein stated, emphatically, (paraphrase) since the invention and use of the atomic bomb, the only hope man has of suviving is under the firm grip of a 1 World Gov't! That is impossible as things exist today.

If it is to survive, Mother Nature demands certain things of life on her planet. The most important is "balance."

Man has no natural enemies to maintain that "balance."

He is "out-of-control." He, himself, is his own worst enemy.

He is, genetically, earths prime predator!

He is the only species of life on this planet that dedicates itself to genocide!

Every moment he exists he researchs and creates more efficient ways to eradicate himself and experience 0 compunction!

We are well on our way to a catastrophe of epic proportion.

Your optimism is wonderful, but I'm afraid naught but, as I said, "pure idealism."

Qwark :):

Neil Sperling profile image

Neil Sperling 5 years ago from Port Dover Ontario Canada Author

Quark - As I stated above - what you seek for you will see... There is NO PURE IDEALISM in my hub at all, but since you are focused on only seeing the world through one set of views, you wont see my view as real.

As Brian Tracy said "The reticular cortex is activated by a clear goal, command, desire or even a fear on your part." http://www.briantracy.com/blog/personal-success/7-...

Check it out - command your your mind (reticular cortex) to "new ways of BEING (seeing)" and you WILL then see these changes taking place now! Don't let FEAR stop you from seeing new possibilities!

Thanks again for your comment.

qwark profile image

qwark 5 years ago

Hi Neil:

I am a pragmatic realist.

I base my opinions upon the life I've lived, (68 yrs), my experiences (which include graduate degrees) and empirical facts as they currently exist.

There is no doubt that there are no "absolutes."

When logic and reason offer me a new view of "reality," my mind is always open to change.

I read your Brian tracy article.

For an individual who has the advantage to be able to involve himself in "reticular cortex" concepts and activity, and a future to build, it is right!

"Recticular cortex" is a concept for the "privileged" to consider. If you relate this hub to just the American middle class ok, but we are a minority of world population.

Almost 40% of extant humanity (about 2.6+ billion) is illiterate. They are busy eking out a basic living from the bare earth.

It has no meaning for the 2.6 billion who are suffering and dying without hope.

Their pain and suffering is immeasurable!

Is it no wonder they are so easily fooled and led by religious nuts who promise them ecstacy in a world after life?

Now, multiply their numbers by 2!!

There are natural resources to consider and myriad other problems that will arise which will create dangers to existing mankind.

I've worked the "reticular concept." If you set your goals, you remove luck for the potential of success. It has worked for me.

But you can't relate that kind of success to people whose kids are scraping up a meal from garbage dumps and education is but a word they don't understand.

Double world population and ya double the amount of suffering.

If your thread tries to cover, holistically," all of mankind, it is "pure idealism."

Nice chatting with ya Neil. :):

Hi Neil, wonderful writing though i do beleive that not everyone can be leader and we have to look for the leaders in time of need. That is why we have political leaders who make or break destiny of a country and business leaders who have made it good even when things were down and can be a role model. Unfortunately we dont have Political leaders like Mahatama Ghandi who can rise above selfishness and live a life which may not be easy to live but is examplary and can give direction to millions of people all over the world in times of adversity.

Such a thought provoking hub!

Once the oil runs out, I am wondering what people will do. I watch the cars go by in the big cities, and I wonder how long that kind of life will go on.

I believe people were a lot happier when life was more basic and slower paced. Maybe people will learn how to grow their own food again and live off the land. It may not be as exciting as today, but I think it will be more fulfilling.

I think IT technology will be the "new oil" People will get all their education and do most of their business and work online, in their homes. The electronic cottage is coming, and I see it as a good thing.

--------------------------------------

Neil, sounds like "new age" humanism and alot like Tony Robbin's "Personal Power" and Oprah Windbag's "The Secret" meshed into one.

I understand you want to encourage and uplift, but the power source that you want people to tap into is bankrupt and corrupt. Looking within requires one to tap into the evil that resides in the heart of man and this is exactly the reason behind our societal and global collapse...looking inward for inspiration instead of looking to The Almighty and His Son for wisdom and deliverance. Sorry, my friend, I'm not buying what you're selling. Peace be with you.

bri36 5 years ago

dude, first of all i really don't think going back to "zero" will do any good. for lots of reasons, not enough space here to explain. next if you want to love yourself then by all means do so. this will help you to grow beyond the limitations that you have set for your self. it's really pretty simple to understand life, just don't get mixed up with all the fuzzyness and warmth. life has it's ways of teaching the hard lessons that some of us missed. here's the hard part, when life lessons come fast and hard, the "old traditions" will keep you moving forward. it's what we have learned along the way that is most important, not the journey. life is to short to live in the sky! reality is one tough bitch and she ain't taking any prisoners! do you know jack?

Neil Sperling profile image

Neil Sperling 5 years ago from Port Dover Ontario Canada Author

Lone ranger - glad you dropped in -- Peace be with you too!

Bri36 - going back to zero is not an easy concept to grasp and old tradition are easier to cling too.... reach out to an unfamiliar way of life is hard - clinging to a way of life that remains hard seems easier.. I know where you are coming from and very much appreciate your comment

bri36 5 years ago

if you are talking about moving forward as an adult then you need to think like one. most people don't understand what it is that you are talking about here. they think you are talking about business applications, or how to move up in the corporate world. to me you seem to be saying more than that. to me it seems that you think on a higher level than most people. but have not found the right way to express these thoughts without going against your belief in G-d. Well my friend i don't think he will mind if you grow in spirit if you grow in the right direction. it is always good to honor the goodness of our fellow man or woman in a positive way. and it is even better when someone recognizes this and gives us a high five for the effort. the real benefit comes when you see this for yourself in yourself and act accordingly. i say this is a good thing and after thinking about it for a while i appolgize for any earlier comments that might be seen as harsh or rude. for this i am truly sorry and thank you for acting in a way that has shown true growth on your part.

Neil Sperling profile image

Neil Sperling 5 years ago from Port Dover Ontario Canada Author

bri36 = your comments are cool... "to me you seem to be saying more than that. to me it seems that you think on a higher level than most people" I do think outside the box and concepts that I believe in are foreign to many people.. you are a deep thinker yourself and have come to terms with who you are and the way you see the world... Bravo ... keep on being a better you.. that is the way i see life purpose - to keep on being a better you (me) ... In one of your hubs you spoke of connecting as one with God -- I believed that for years - now I see it only slightly different.... "man is to progress into being a God.... each of us has the potential" .... it is more than being one with God - is is learning to recognize we are, then to experience it" BE

bri36 5 years ago

a while back a very good lady friend said this to me "In order to become your self, first you must give in to yourself!" this i have done and it has made me a better person in the long run. Thank you Neil Sperling for your understanding and you are kinda cool too...

Hi, Neil, In order to love life and love living we need to be free of concerns regarding the struggle to survive. One condition is closely linked to the other. The only disharmonious thing in the entire universe is man. We hunt and we are hunted and such has been the case since the days of the pharoahs. We have nationalism, facism, socialism, communism, what have you that have attempted to remake man. Our technology, I am afraid, is just a mere tool allowing us to more efficiently exploit one another. There is a great streak of evil in the human nature. I am afraid that we will destroy ourselves with our technology long before we can get our passions under control. Your perspective is what all of us want, but the reality and ideal is often times far apart. Please Check out the article below: where I speak somewhat about this topic. Thanks Cred2

credence2 - I understand your point of view.... but in order to be free of concerns we need to learn to love life and love living. It begins inside... not outside ourselves.

Thus the phrase "Build a new man from the inside out. No longer running from who we are inside."

Gosh, I just can't get politics out of my head. Call it an addiction. Just another sickness. Yet, I think of that last line in exactly those terms. WE are the world we live in. We create our circumstances, and we also create our woes. What we want in the world, oftentimes we look to others to get us there. We point fingers readily, and lay blame haughtily when things don't go right. It seems funny to me that, at times, as a people we feel so powerless to have control over the things that happen to us. Over the things that affect us. And over the people who control us when we forget how much control we actually have personally, and collectively.

I often recite the quote written by Ann Lappe she wrote in an article in O Magazine (which I don't read, but happened along the quote a few years back) which basically says that every dollar we spend casts a vote for the kind of world we want to live in. If we don't like what globalization has done to our jobs, our benefits, this economy, and the prospects for the future then WE must be proactive in righting that individually. We have to have to a personal stake in correcting things. The same goes for the current state of our economy and the socialist agenda of this administration, and the socialist cancer sweeping so many Americans off their common sense rockers. If we want something we have to be willing to do whatever it takes to get it. If others will not participate, so what? It is within ourselves to make a difference, one person at a time, one mindset at a time.

If the world we live in is not the world we want, it's no one's fault but our own. The question is now, not what will WE do about it. But what will YOU do about it? What will I do about it?

The future of everthing starts with a personal commitment toward a goal. Destiny is of one's own choosing. Others can manipulate and influence it to a large extent, but we can beat the odds by being vigilant, smart, forthright, and working in a strong effort to stack the odds in our own favor despite the ever increasing odds against us.

Great article. I hope my comments are not found too outside its realm or scope. But this is what I got out of it.

springboard - great comments - and no they are not outside the scope of the hub - The biggest thing we can do is as you say - Spend (and invest) in things that stimulate the changes we want to have happen. Curious if your read my hub "Corp greed vs Gov Waste" - adds to this hub more of my thinking.

Oh, I don't think you are out to lunch at all, and judging from the number of comments on this hub, quite a few people agree with you. It is definitely time to go back to zero, either by our own choice or being forced to by the economy. Sir,

In India we are experiencing shrinkage of Middle class and so called values ethos .Human was born with basic selfishness and many good and bad properties.

I am humble to express but it is true that under Innovation we are going to get destroyed by corp orates and interests. The governments are not able to regulate vested interests and their designs.

Middle class people are pawn in the hands of monopolies and wings they fly are made of Wax, just heat up it melts and these merit worthy guys simply falls on the earth and no body cares them and show goes on.

pramodgokhale - "Middle class people are pawn in the hands of monopolies" is a true statement from the north pole to the south pole. ..... that is why this hub - back to basics and a re-establishment of basic values. It is time mankind learned to love life and love living. ... thanks for your on target comment

Wow, Neil...shades of Billybuc - at least i think so! Awesome insight, excellent balance - and optimistic suggestions..lol..

It reminds me of a song by Michael Jackson - (the guy could sing, gotta give cred where cred is due...) called 'The Man in the Mirror' - and it's premise was that each individual needed to look first and foremost to themselves to promote change. It all starts right HERE - with ME! I'm also tired of people whining and bitching and expecting someone else - something else - to fix it all for them.

There are some things that are out of our control - BUT - there are many things are within it!

Very impressive - not to mention that i need a nap from just scrolling down here...

omg..pantpant...lolxx

Leslie, I agree it is a time for change. But I think that change is based upon yesterday's values. Family was important, working hard was a pride-felt drive, togetherness was a part of life. History repeats itself. I think the only way to bring the new phase of history to a clean and clear of way of being is to revert to the morals of yesteryear. Technology and leniency has tainted the world. Loss of family values and loss of personal value has tainted the world. Worshipping 'things' has tainted our world.

I disagree. We don't need a clean slate. We need to grab hold of the past and the values the past represents and make them a way of life once more!

If it ain't broke don't fix it, but we need to because we broke it with technology, climbing the corporate ladder and leaving our kids home to fend for themselves.

When we return to the family values of yesteryear, we will begin the healing process.

Neil, have you given thought to the reasons we have come up against "ourselves" so harshly in these modern times?

Could part of the reason be that we have been ultra-successful in our survival skills? Therefore we, as a species, are overpopulating the world.

Look at our success in medicine, acute, chronic and preventative. It is extremely sophisticated in the first two; not so much in the third. We can be rescued from death in the event of a major trauma; carefully and skillfully transported to hospital and kept alive even with a severe brain injury whereas in previous times we would have died at the road side. Triage, emergence surgery, intensive care, rehabilitation..... all these and more ensure the more and more of us remain living instead of dying.

This leads to resources being used up rapidly. However, it also means that the effect of overcrowding bears down on us as a society and as individuals. Similar antisocial effects have been observed in other species, e.g., the colobus monkey colony in South Western England, several years ago.

So my suggestion is we will need to address this paradox if our species it to renew its existence.

Neil Sperling profile image

Neil Sperling 3 years ago from Port Dover Ontario Canada Author

jonnycomelately - I have given thought to this.... but I do not see it as you do. Over population would NOT ruin the planet resources if we were to advance with renewable resource planting and harvesting. Also - it has been calculated that to house and feed the world would cost about 30 Billion a year.... we foolishly spend that on war games every month. As we develop further technologies no doubt mankind will eventually explore the beautiful universe we are part of. If you place limitations on mankind to only continue living as we are your fears have a base to be concerned with.... expand your thinking outside the box and you will see that limitations are none!

Thanks for your insightful comment

What a wonderful and important hub you have written Neil. I am on the same wavelength with you and was in agreement with every word. People are frightened to look within themselves in case they don't like what they see. If they can console themselves that they are following the beliefs and demands of the majority, then they feel consoled and don't have to face up to the real questions. We certainly need to go back to zero with all we have learns as the toys or tools to build a new better world and society that isn't so economy driven above all else. Voted up and shared.

Well this is a great article. I AM happy now. We still have bills and the needs and wants, but all in all I am happy in my home.

Society though, now that is another animal altogether. The more the rules to conform the more there will be to unconform. The tighter the reign the more they will lose. We have to do something to stop the mass number of homelessness and the mass number of starving people. In one of my hubs on walking through the park I mention the park buildings and the history of them and they were Poorhouses. Yes, there were rel poorhouse and it was before Welfare came into being. It is interesting the information I put in that hub and I learned from it too. I do not understand why we treat those that have no money so poorly. We need to turn that around. Thanks for sharing the hub with me and I will share it.
