An Open Letter to John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Paul Ryan

Your behavior as representatives of the people is so unabashedly self-serving I am ashamed you call yourselves American. Our nation continues to fall behind in in Human Development Index and your effort is to push it to the bottom. Your interest in serving is obviously limited to passing out payola checks from tobacco companies to fellow Republicans on the House Floor and doing everything in your power to protect the Rich, the Powerful and every snake in the grass that slithers at your heels. How dare you call these narcissistic affluent swine “Job Creators”. Your scheme is to convince the uninformed to give them yet more of the public treasure! A business does not add jobs because it is flush with cash. Business only adds jobs when the Demand is greater than its ability to produce. Stealing from the citizenry that provides that Demand for goods and services destroys business. But apparently you made a pact with Satan and are not interested in a successful economy. You are stunning in your arrogance! Your only interest in the economy is for it to fail so you can make Obama look bad in the public eye. From day one of the Obama administration you have said NO to all ideas for job growth, even those which were originally Republican ideas No you don’t want job growth and a stronger nation. You think it reasonable to borrow money from China to pay for the Bush Tax cuts to the wealthy and refusing to raise their taxes. By your standards, Ronald Reagan would be rejected by today’s GOP as he raised taxes eleven times. Even Jeb Bush agrees with that!

Then you execute a war on women that would make the Taliban proud! In addition to your buddies in the Senate blocking the paycheck fairness act, the Congress has discriminated against women. I am waiting for you to suggest they all stay home and wear Burqas. Your all male committee on women’s health was intent on driving out most women’s voices, but you were insistent on getting testimony from the religious right to testify: Asma Uddin of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, Jeanne Monahan of the Family Research Council an anti-abortion religious group, and Bishop William Lori of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops—who recently likened covering basic preventive health care for women to selling ham sandwiches at kosher delis. Looks like a stacked deck to me. The committee’s leadership was intent on drowning out voices for women’s health and rights with unfounded assertions about religious institutions’ authority to impose their beliefs even on those who disagree with them. Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights, a global human rights organization that uses constitutional and international law to secure women's reproductive freedom, said “Scientific evidence shows that broadened access to affordable contraception reduces unintended pregnancies by the millions and saves American taxpayers billions of dollars every year. The issue raised in this debate is not whether religious liberty should be protected, but whose religious liberty the law should protect. Conscience rights belong to individuals, not institutions.”

But you are on the wrong side of history on every issue. While Nixon signed the Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and lead the way for a cleaner and healthier America, you guys want to do away with the EPA and deny Scientific Findings on Climate Change. You follow the arm flapping Rush Limbaugh on this and every other important issues. The Koch brothers don’t want regulation. Given the option they would do away with OSHA, Child Labor Laws, and all environmental restrictions. And they and many other super rich are buying a big share of the U.S. government.

My hope and prayer is that in 2012 you get sent to the gallows where you belong for your despicable behavior.

I agree with you also Terry, except for the gallows. They are beholden to their corporate benefactors and do not care a hoot about the rest of us. Maybe their constituents can vote them out and send them to Siberia. Great Hub.

these folks are certainly not christians as they claim to be. christ espoused generosity toward the poor.

There are many problems with our current session of congress and the GOP representatives therein, but the biggest is the fact that these liars and thieves continue to have supporters. And not only the wealthy that they so obviously represent. I have a friend who is a teacher and is still a steadfast republican! He actually defends their actions. Until the general populace chooses to accept that the America they believe the GOP stands for is not the one they are actively creating, then these charlatans will continue to gain power.

let us revisit the fact Obama had complete control for 2 solid years? Let us know that over 60 bills have been sent to Harry Reid and not one ever hit the floor. When your democrat senate stops progress you should put the blame where it is deserved. Take a look at Wisconsin, see what a fiscally responsible governor can do. Then take note of what the people respect over the powerful unions and put him right back in office...........think these things over and write another hub bashing Democrats and liberals.

I must say that i agree with you. I know some poor republicans who still vote for the GOP party, thinking they are the christian party, how sad that is. I still believe that people will see the truth and vote for honesty, seeing the greedy for what they are...Thank's for the share..

Ender 14, You hit the Nail on the head! Republicans have been extremely successful at getting people to vote against their best interests. Fear is one tactic they use. Obama is giving the country to the UN, he is going to take away your guns. Another is lies, the Republicans have spent more while refusing to raise revenue which obviously leads to debt. But they convince people Democrats are the fault of the debt.

American Romance is a perfect example.

Think of people that have lost their jobs and homes while Republicans say more for the Rich. They even put the Country in financial jeopardy to ensure Obama looks bad. The Gallows are deserved!

always exploring,

You seem like an artistic and sensitive person. Certainly Christ would condemn today's GOP as would Teddy Roosevelt and Lincoln.

Sacky said I was too kind by sending them to the gallows. She thinks they should be turned loose naked in a game reserve while Ted Nugent is on the hunt with his right wing buddies!

I must say, I think Sacky has the right idea. Turn Ted Nugent loose on them.

Brava! You left no stone unturned. It is amazing to me how people endorse and encourage their behavior. It's hard to believe people are so driven by ideology.

To your commenter who made reference to the President's two years in control:

Your comment is a perfect example of how people fly by the seat of their pants and merely spout Republican talking points. How is that even possible when Senator Brown won the Massachusetts seat in 2010. The President had only been in office a year?

As you may recall, Senator Kennedy had a seizure at the Inauguration luncheon and the Minnesota seat was contested until July. By then Senator Byrd was hospitalized and shortly afterwards Senator Kennedy died.

Only after the Kennedy seat was filled in late September, did President Obama gain a 60 seat majority. It lasted until February 4, 2010 when Brown was sworn-in....4 months! That doesn't account for Congressional recesses.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?

Awesome piece of writing! This has to be one of my favorites! You actually outdid Sacky and that, my friend, is hard to do!

Outdoing that is a compliment! We will keep that quiet. Fire would come out of her ears! Thank you so much! But remember, the Ted Nugent thing was her idea 7
