No Leadership in Sight

Buzzy is at the Table

Good Morning, Breakfastpoppers. Today is Thursday, April 30, 2015. Our busy friend, Fly Buzzy, is at the breakfast table this morning. Buzzy has been down to Baltimore and he has returned saddened and disgusted. Baltimore is a repeat of the Ferguson riots and it is impossible to process the devastation. Buzzy has no idea what transpired when drug dealer, Freddie Gray was in police custody. The events of that arrest, though unknown, have torn the city of Baltimore to pieces. Buzzy has asked for the pleasure of your company at breakfast this morning. He is serving waffles with pure maple syrup. I am mixing up a batch of Irish coffees to accompany the meal. We hope to see you soon. Buzzy needs to vent.

The Voice of Sanity

Thank you all for joining me this morning. Needless to say, the riots in Baltimore have dominated the news and the nation. Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke was the voice of sanity throughout this fiasco. President Obama mentioned that the nation needed to do some soul searching. Sheriff Clarke suggested that the president needed to do some soul searching about his failed liberal policies that have served only to prolong the misery in the ghettos. Sheriff Clarke, who doesn't suffer any fools, said that life in the ghetto is all about life style choices. He went on to say that the choices were flawed. Consider the decision to drop out of school. That choice is the road to misery and failure. Consider bad behavior that leads to unemployment or jail. Deciding to bring a child into the world out of wedlock is another failed choice. If anything is ever going to get better in the ghetto, residents there are going to have to make better choices and work like hell to do the right thing. This is what President Obama should be talking about. This is what Al Sharpton should be talking about. This is exactly what Jesse jackson should be talking about. Instead, the blame is put on society, on the cops and on the white community. Personal responsibility is absent from the equation.

Voice of Insanity

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake gave the looters and thugs a green light to destroy businesses and rip the city apart. Unbelievably, she said that she wanted to give space to those who wished to destroy. Shame on her. Her words told the police to stand down. The sight of the police being pelted by large stones was sickening to say the least. This is the worst display of leadership I have ever seen. I can't even believe most of these rioting animals even cared about the death of Freddie Gray. A pair of new Nikes seemed to be on their minds. They looted and destroyed a CVS. This is the same CVS that sells food and so much more to the community. The rioters have ensured that the city will be under served. If anything ever gets better, it will take a very long time. It may never get better. If Watts is an example of the after effects of mass rioting, then Baltimore has many more years of suffering ahead. President Obama suggested that he had policies that would have made something like these riots less likely. The fault, he seemed to suggest, was with the Republicans. This kind of empty rhetoric shouldn't surprise anybody.

Source

Democrats Are Not the Answer

President Obama can suggest that his policies are the cure-all for troubled cities, but the evidence tells us otherwise. Baltimore and other poor messed up cities like Detroit have been under the thumb of Democrats forever. Essentially, Baltimore is a mess, from the police department to the schools. The Democratic party hasn't done a thing to make things better and things will never get better as long as they are in power. The war on poverty is old, tired and a failure. If people in these depressed areas want to see change, they had better stop voting for the same old tired politicians who are in it for themselves.

Source

Personal Responsibility

If President Obama really cared about what occurred in Baltimore he would have told those idiots on the streets to disperse and go home. The mayor should have been concerned about business owners who were losing their stores. The mayor should have been protecting citizens who live there, work there and want to remain there. Young people in cities like Baltimore need leadership and guidance. They need to be held accountable for their actions, They need to realize that education is the pathway out of poverty. They need to hear that there are opportunities out their to get ahead. They need to hear all of this from leaders in the community and the nation. They don't need Al Sharpton and thus far, they don't need President Obama. They need more people like Sheriff Clarke. There are answers to these problems, but they will not come from the likes of Sharpton or Obama. It is time for real "change."

Buzzy's Song

Fly me to the moon

And let me live where I am free

Things are so ugly now

I think we're up a tree!

It seems we have some very weak leadership at many levels of government.

I can only imagine the feelings of those Baltimore Police Officers who were ordered to take off their riot gear and form a line to be pelted with rocks and bottles. It would have made it better if the Mayor who issued this order would have joined them in this line.

There are many really good people who live in Baltimore and they suffer because the police were not allowed to do their job. This action sends a clear message to those who love to riot, loot, and burn that it is OK to continue this behavior.

It seems that from the top down the inmates are now running the assylum.

Pop and Buzzy,

I agree that Democrats are not the answer. Indeed they are the problem. The demographics of the group of rioters is around 95% Democrat based on historical voting trends.

Can I just say, "Amen, Amen and Amen!" Have you seen the video of the clergy in Baltimore coming together and praying right on the street and rioters were actually joining them as they walked? It's really quite something. It's also really quite sad that President Obama has done NOTHING to bring change to ghettos, inner cities, etc. The people who voted for him need to realize it's not going to take the first black president (or any president for that matter) to solve all their problems. Instead it's going to take making good choices, like you said and understanding there are consequences for their actions. Unfortunately for many of the rioters, there will be no consequences so they'll just going on living their lives that way. I think too that the church really needs to get serious about praying what their role is in helping to bring about REAL change - like a church I know of in Durham, NC that did just that!

Good Morning Mike,

Now the norm from the president on down is to be judge and jury in an instant. It is hard to believe that Obama ever went to law school. The mayor is another pathetic example of a complete breakdown of leadership. She led these thugs into the streets and gave them carte blanche to riot, loot and maim. Simply disgusting!!!How interesting that we have more racism now since Obama was elected. Then again, he and Sharpton love the controversy. See you at the Inn.

Good Morning Tom,

The voters of Baltimore need to wake up and rid their city of the political and street thugs. Then they need to take hold of their children and read them the real riot act! See you at the Inn.

Good Morning Cari,

Until we demand and champion personal responsibility, there will be very little change for the better. Sitting around and blaming everyone else gets you nowhere. The president is the perfect example of that strategy. He has beeblaming Bush for 6 long years. See you at the Inn and we'll talk some more.

It looked a lot like the 60s. It seems we haven't learned too much in fifty years. I hope we do soon.

You hit the mark with this one, bp. Behavior IS all about choices and the consequences we see from the Baltimore riots are the results of those poor choices. Would you care to run for office? Perhaps we could persuade another sane voice like Sheriff David Clarke to be your running mate.

Many cite lack of opportunity and education as the root of the problem in many cities. So our governments chooses to give them welfare rather than what is supposedly needed to correct the problem.

I'm thinking that this easy to get welfare only makes the problems worse.

It is far easier to hand out welfare checks than it is to implement vocational training where many could learn the needed job skills to be self sufficient.

Yet the cry continues that they need more money to fix the problems. If they spent the money they have now to arrive at solutions rather than handing it out as welfare we might see some positive change.

The riots in Ferguson and Baltimore , and to demonstrations in NYC (Michael Brown) were just fuel for people who like to loot, burn and cause general mayhem. The three people who died setting off the demonstrations were all criminals. People riot over dead criminals? Please, spare me. People are looking for an excuse to riot. The misguided in Baltimore were encouraged by a Mayor who should not be mayor. And there is a president who has made race relations worse.

So, what was the point of burning a not yet completed home for seniors being built by church, and a black church, I might add. This tells us that the "locals" we're just looking for an excuse to riot.

Out of all of this I did see a hero. That was the mother who was wacking her son upside his head. Maybe the mothers in Baltimore should be more like her.

Dear Mike,

The schools are open and opportunity is there for those who seek it. I thought we had come a long way since the 60's but Obama, Holder, Sharpton and many more have brought us back to those times. Always lacking in the equation is personal responsibility. Without that, there will be no improvement. The black community doesn't have a monopoly when it comes to poverty. Determined people find their own way out. Obama and the Dems would prefer to keep people angry and dependent. See you later, Mike.

Good Morning taxlarry,

I agree, along with personal responsibility comes the home environment. There is an appalling lack of fathers in this area, but that doesn't mean that a strong mother figure can't do the right thing. This story is getting old. This won't be the last time a black suspect gets killed while being arrested. When a white suspect is injured or worse we don't even hear about it. If, as a society, we want to get to the root of things, let's look at the family and the individual. We can also look to the Sharptons of this world who live for these things. See you at the Inn.

pop.....Leadership? Personal responsibility? Pointing fingers in the wrong places? President? What? We have a President? Hmmm, where have I been?

Must be the weather or the water. I can't understand a word you're talking about..............Oh yeah, that's right, I've finally LOST IT..gone off the deep end, gone bonkers, I'm an order of fries short of a Happy Meal....Whatever. I'm going off to read something I can understand....like Snow White or Rapunzel. Soon as I can get out of this straight jacket.

Dear fp,

The problem is that you are perfectly sane. There is no such thing as leadership, so no worries for you. Pointing fingers in the wrong place is par for the course and required, so no worries for you. We don't have a president, we have Obama, so no worries for you. Enjoy your Happy Meal and I will save you a seat at the Inn.

I told you america should have gone to an all black face law enforcement team. This is another case of hang the white man out to dry. Black skin would protect the police. A black faced law enforcement team can handle americas black crime problem much better than white police can. There is a book called black like me that a man goes undercover as a black man. So I think the police need to go to the book store and get the book then go paint themselves.

if I ever have a son he will be protected by black skin. One day I will be protected by black skin.

They should take the black looters and paint them white so that they will be more likely to get raped in prison. Nick cannon went white faced before so it can be done.

black skin is protection 4 the cops

white skin would get a black criminal raped in prison.

white skin is not good for protection

black skin is great for protection like a monster truck

Good Morning big dady ore,

Not to refute your concept, but 3 of the cops accused of killing Grey are black. The cops and people who called the police on Garner were also black. These things are characterized as racist because it serves Sharpton's and Obama's purpose, which is to divide us. See you at the Inn.

Slightly of topic but yesterday they showed the millions of dollars that have been poured into Baltimore with little or no effect on poverty or job creation. It seems the leadership in Baltimore didn't have any good plans for spending this huge amount of money.

This is just more proof that our government throwing money (our money) at any problem without a plan seldom solves the problem.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 19 months ago Author

Dear Mike,

It is also proof of stupid voters who keep the inept Dems in power and get no results in return.

Old Poolman profile image

Old Poolman 19 months ago from Rural Arizona

But do the Baltimore voters even know about the Millions of Federal dollars being sent to help them? I doubt that if they knew most of this money had been stolen or wasted they would be that willing to vote for the same people in the next election. How would they know unless someone told them about it?

Dear Mike,

You make a good point, but theses days any known facts can be twisted so that the masses are fooled.

big daddy oreo 19 months ago

The media is making it look like white cops did it. I saw pictures of 3 white cops arresting freddie gray. All I saw was white cops trying to handle riots. Maybe 1 black cop.

There is no going back for me. I will always use all black faced cops. No more white cops.

I think black cops can get a better relationship with black people and still get along with white people.

Good Morning Mike,

Wishing your wife a Happy Mother's Day, too. As far as racial tension is concerned, thanks to Obama and others we have turned the clock back. I wouldn't be surprised if a civil war broke out. I believe this is going to be a tumultuous summer.

Old Poolman profile image

Old Poolman 19 months ago from Rural Arizona

Your right Patti - This administration has set back race relations by many years and is continuing to do so. I can't even imagine why they are doing this and what they will gain from this effort. With the first black president ever, the opportunity to make things better was there but the opposite path was chosen.

But humans being what we are, there will always be conflict. If we were all of one race it would most likely be short people against tall people or thin people against fat people. We would find something to disagree about and spread hate and discontent to the best of our ability.

Dear Mike,

I believe that Obama can into office with an agenda written for him by his mentors. Lacking a true love for our nation he began to tear us down in every way possible, and he is still doing the same six years later. He jumps on every opportunity to set race relations back to the days of riding in the back of the bus. It serves a purpose. He needs to destabilize our country so that he can re-shape it in the image of his mentors. What's happening now is a perfect example. In order to give the federal government control over the police he needs to amp up the violence. I hope you enjoy your day despite the mess we are in.

The opportunity to improve interatial relations is there in my movement. If I can ever change my appearance to be a black male I promise you I will use my blackness to protect white people.

Did you know that a white person is way more likely to get raped in prison? What better way to teach black rioters and looters a lesson than by disguising them as white and putting them in an inner city prison.

google nick cannon white face. Nick cannon would get raped in prison.
