Manny is Praying For America

Good Morning, Breakfstpoppers. Today is Friday, August 29, 2014. Our dear friend, Mantis Manny, is at the breakfast table. Manny has been following recent events concerning the terror organization ISIS and now believes that prayers alone are not going to cut it. Manny has asked for the pleasure of your company this morning. He has prepared cinnamon buns that are beyond delicious. I will be preparing Irish Coffees. We hope to see you soon.

Source

ISIS OR ISIL

Thank you all for joining me this morning. Let me begin by bringing up a matter that I personally find both disturbing and revealing. The terror organization referred to as ISIS has undergone a name change. President Obama and his minions now refer to ISIS as ISIL and there is more to it than just a few differing letters. President Obama began using the term "ISIL" quite deliberately. It stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. ISIS refers to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. The Levant consists of Iraq, Syria, Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, southern Turkey and Palestine. Using the term ISIL appears to take the focus away from Iraq and Syria, the two places that show quite glaringly, President Obama's failed foreign policy. By bringing all these other countries into the mix, President Obama's delicate and massive ego remains intact, at least in his own mind. The world is imploding and your president has time to play the name game.

Source

Planning Ahead

If only your President Obama had marked his day planner with the day he was apprised of the rise of ISIS. ISIS was long in the making. To be exact, this administration was told about the terror group four long years ago. There were warning signs all along the way. ISIS has been building an army and building their treasury. This administration chose to dismiss the murderous terror group and President Obama went so far as to refer to them as a a Junior Varsity team. Does anybody get President Obama in the White house long enough to bring him up to speed? is there anyone in his tight little circle capable of doing that? So, what do we have now? We have a growing threat not only to the Middle East but to the United States. We have a threat that should have been addressed at least four years ago. We also have unsecured borders, because border agents are changing diapers and handing out pablum. While agents are burdened with child care, murderers are able to enter the U.S. quite easily. The combination of open borders and the existence of a savage group such as ISIS is positively deadly.

Source

Obama Wants a Plan!

Your President Obama has announced that he wants his staff to come up with a plan to deal with ISIS. Rumor has it that there is already a plan in place. The reason it was never implemented was because it lacked President Obama's signature. In the meantime, President Obama's cracker jack security team will put their heads together and try to figure out what to do. With this group, it is easy predict that it won't be easy. You have a president who doesn't make critical decisions easily. He wasn't sure he wanted to go after Osama bin Laden and he stalled the efforts to free James Foley. He is always a little late to the dance. Your President Obama has taken steps to reassure ISIS that they have nothing to fear from America in the near future. Yesterday, he stood at the podium and announced that the United States did not have a strategy for dealing with them. ISIS members must have been dancing in the streets. It is hard to imagine any president making a statement such as this, but with this president nothing is off the table except for his ability to lead.

Source

Come On In!

While we wait to see what President Obama will do, all sorts of people are crossing into our country. Some of them are U.S citizens who have valid passports and have joined ISIS forces in Syria and Iraq. If they want to come home and pay their momma a visit, they can come right in. The welcome mat is there to greet them. Perhaps it is time to rethink allowing them back in. This bug thinks it's way past time. The application of a little common sense can go a long way. Close the borders and scrutinize every single person trying to get in here from Iraq or Syria. Better yet, just arrest them! It's time to stop the politically correct nonsense and take a strong common sense approach to this complicated and dangerous world we live in.

pop & Manny.....Doom is everywhere. Isis by any other name still spells disaster and destruction. When the leader of our Country is paralyzed as to what the plan should be to deal with savage, murderous, lunatics......can there possibly be any hope for us?...for the whole damned world? At what point will a brain kick into gear in Washington?

I was busy yesterday but caught part of a speech by Obummer where he admitted there is no plan to deal with ISIS.

I would guess the name change was so we citizens would start thinking of them as a country rather than a growing mob. I'm surprised he didn't change the name to "Peace Keepers" or "Mellow Fellow's" to further distract us.

But Obama is off to fund raise again so he didn't have a great deal of time to spend thinking up a new name for these murderers. One would think he might want to stay home and work on a plan to deal with ISIS but fund raising for his party is far more important.

Perhaps this is better because his plan could be to apologize to them for being Americans and put them at the top of our Foreign Aid list. We spend billions trying to buy a few friends, why not ISIS?

Pop and Manny,

Like you I couldn't believe Obama's announcement that he has NO strategy to deal with ISIS. I think I'll watch the old James Dean classic "Rebel Without a Cause". It's more entertaining than the current fiasco of "POTUS Without a Clue".

Nice to see even Obama voters finally waking up and smelling the coffee. But my question would be, why did you refuse to see what he was from the start, it's not like he hid it from anyone.

More and more the words of Mr. Krauthammer are ringing true "It's as if Obama stumbled into the White House and suddenly discovered he was president"

This is what you get when you elect someone who has never had a real job, spent his whole life in academia and never been any sort of leader or executive to run the country. This was wholly predictable and many of us attempted to warn those who just refused to see what was right in front of them.

Think of where we might be right now both economically and internationally if Mitt Romney, who rightly predicted the rise of an organization like ISIS, had won the election.

I'm just curious... Since when has there ever been a quick and easy solution about tyrannical states? The world sat back and watched Germany swallow a good portion of Europe before action. The world sat and watched 2 million massacred by Pol Pot. The world sat and watched 1 million slaughtered in Rwanda, The UN has done nothing when it comes to crimes against humanity. And it is not like Americas ideals on these situations have changed. It has been the same since failing in Somalia. Syria is up to almost 200,000 people killed and the world is just sitting by and watching. It comes down to one thing and that is money. Will this war be quick? Will it have minimal casualties? Are the issues in Syria our problem? Sure you can sit here and expect a quick resolution, but the fact is it is not simple. People need to put their own bias aside and see how delicate this situation actually can be. But that's not what citizens should worry about right?

Also, I'll use Rwanda as an example: The Rwandan government from 1990-1994 began to militarize the entire Hutu population. This was done under the nose of a SAP that was taken place by the UN. A Structural Adjustment Program is often used for a nation who's economy is in shamble and requires international bail out. The SAP requires specific spending by the government to gain these allowances of international money that is generally funded by the 5 top players in the UN. The Rwandan Government used this money to supply arms for a future genocide. In the end they spent almost 120 million US dollars for weapons. The agencies that regulate the stimulus packages that were going to Rwanda flagged this. The disappearing money was evident. Egypt and France were the biggest supplier of arms to the Rwandan government during this time. France still denies this to this day despite the immense evidence.

There was written documentation all over the place stating there was a large amount of Tutsi hate being spewed over the radiowaves in Rwanda. There was proof of an underground organization called the Akazu that promoted Tutsi hate and was headed by the Presidents wife. Yet, nothing was done. Even when Romeo Dallaire was in the midst of the Genocide and he would send urgent messages back to UN headquarters, his messages were never heard in the Security Council. The international community branded it a civil war and not a genocide. That is until thousands of bodies started piling up on Ugandan and Tanzanian river beds.

It is nothing new that the "information was there". The information is always there. The only thing that matters is money and lives. Will it cost too much? Will we lose too much? Is it truly our problem? Look at Abu Ghraib. Do you think that reflected Americas humanitarian ideals? As I stated, it is not like America has changed its' ideals on these kinds of matters. Stalling seems to be what America does. Just like every other big player in the UN.

The difference between say WWII and now is essentially this; No one expected it to be quick and no one expected there to be 'minimal casualties', what they expected and wanted was for us to WIN.

That is part of Obama's problem (of which there are many) he doesn't understand the concept of we win, they lose. He comes from a culture and ideology where everyone gets a trophy for "participation". Victory is a foreign concept to him and to his radical left minions. All they know is dialogue and 'consensus'.

There is no dialogue or consensus with a rabid dog.

Superkev:

I posted many more situations of debate than just WWII. And the international community still stalled when it came down to what they wanted to do. And if you read into the delegations it was money and estimations of lives lost. It is the same in any tense situation. And shifting blame through fallacy and illogically biased opinion is a bad way to see the issue. I'm just curious how the administration is not living up to every other administration that has faced issues like this? Because to me it seems like they are handling it the exact same way as all the others.

Dear superkev,

I, too, am mystified by the refusal of the voting public to recognize Obama for what he was and still is. He is an inexperienced, community organizer with a very unhealthy distrust of America and Americans. One fairly good speech off a teleprompter was all the voting public required. Shame on them once and then twice. If he could run again, they would vote him in again. The public is clueless and so is this president. It's a match made in hell. See you at the virtual Inn, where people who have common sense gather.

You gotta know he's not gonna clean this up before he leaves office. Many Presidents have tried to leave with a bang so that they will be memorable. He needs no help in that department. He's going down in history as the president who does what he wants w/o regard to Congress. And, He's leaving a hell of a mess for the next guy/gal who becomes President.

Dear Fred,

I understand and appreciate your commentary. Having said that , what you are talking about has precious little to do with this president and his complete inability to lead. What we are facing now is unlike anything we have ever faced before. Are we going to just sit back and wait for another September 11th? Are we going to allow animals to cross into our country every minute of every day? The stakes are very high and we have to act decisively and swiftly. As far as the UN is concerned, I have little regard for anything they do. It is a useless organization at best and an arm of stupidity and terror at worst. This simply can't be business as usual. We have to act and it is now or never. Thanks so much for coming to the breakfast table.

Dear superkev,

You just nailed it. We enter into conflict like dainty little ladies who want to be liked and have a desire and need to follow the rules of engagement. I have always believed that war should only be fought if we are prepared to win. I look at Hamas and see a perfect example of a terror group that counts on the sensibilities of the Israelis not to hit targets where women and children are. That is why they place their weapons in hospitals and schools. Obama has a strange relationship with Muslim countries. He wants to be liked more than he wants to protect America.

Breakfastpop:

I'm unsure on how it does not apply to this current President? He is adopting the same exact stance as every other President who has faced extremists. As I stated America has not suddenly switched to a humanitarian state. You are utilizing the correlation justifying causation fallacy to strengthen your point which is an improper way to form logical conclusions. Obama is reacting how every other President has reacted to a similar situation. America has always stalled and waited it out. Always.

Also:

"If he could run again, they would vote him in again. The public is clueless and so is this president. It's a match made in hell. See you at the virtual Inn, where people who have common sense gather."

This again is false accusation. Right now Obama is at a poor approval rating and has been that way for awhile now. There are only a few Presidents who have ended their terms with positive approval.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_preside...

If a better candidate came along, Obama would be voted out.

Rachael:

Like the mess GW Bush left Obama in when Obama became President? It is all relative and forcing hateful opinion on non-substantial outcomes is a bad way of thinking. Also, every President has the power nowadays to "do what he wants" as you state. I wrote a pretty extensive Hub on this issue if you would like to read it:

http://hubpages.com/politics/Does-the-Presidency-H...

Note that the executive order is a reason the President as a whole can move legislation. Obama ranks in the lower brackets of these orders:

http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/data/orders.php

There you can see FDR has almost 4,000 executive orders and he is the President that has had the most pull during his time. So I would say FDR goes down in history for what you stated.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Dear Fred,

Just doing what other presidents have done doesn't make anything right. This is the most scandal ridden administration in history. As far as executive orders are concerned, numbers are meaningless. The only thing that matters is substance and Obama has overreached his authority. He is using executive orders to bypass Congress and the American people and he is transforming our country in hideous ways. Other presidents used executive orders, but normally they are employed to keep government moving. Obama has taken a different route and I believe he has broken the law. I doubt I am alone in this regard.

Fred Arnold profile image

Fred Arnold 2 years ago from Clearwater, FL

Breakfastpop:

In what route did he take? Congress has the easy ability to impeach him if that is the case. The one time anything unconstitutional came up the Supreme Court ruled it constitutional. And it is not what other Presidents have done. It is the overall ideology of America that makes it this way. Believe it or not, many Americans would choose not to go into another war. If it needs to happen so be it, but there is nothing wrong with being patient and biding your time. I will give you this article to reflect on:

http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/8/23/is...

Would it be possible to let it starve itself? Is it the right move to make to attack when they are strongest? Or would it be better to wait when their economic prosperity off of oil falters?

You also do not know what is truly happening behind the doors of Congress. You do not know all the intelligence. So to state this is a simple solution debate means you are not taking into account all sides.

You state all these accusations but bring forth no proof. FDR threatened Congress multiple times while he was in office. He pushed more socialist legislation through than any other President. Every single President has used executive order and executive agreement to bypass Congress in some way. Take a look at my Hub if you'd like to get into it more.

Dear Fred,

You can be a liberal apologist for Obama if you choose to, but I don't choose to. A liberal constitutional scholar, Jonathan Turkey, believes that a new form of government is emerging. He went on to say that the president is threatening to remake the government and that Congress must act against executive overreach. He said the following, " Counting executive orders is a silly business. It has no relevance at all. You could have a single executive order that guts the government or you could have a thousand that do nothing." This makes sense to me. By the way, the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office said the Defense Department failed to notify the relevant congressional committees at least 30 days in advance of the Bergdahl exchange. This represents a clear violation of the law. By the way $988,400 of a wartime account was used to make the transfer. In the meantime, dangerous terrorists are back in action and a soldier who made a wrong turn is languishing in a Mexican jail. Nothing this administration does is good for this country. I am going to enjoy my dinner now.

Poppi, I for one would be just as disgusted with any sitting President in this situation. To flat out annouce to the world that we have no strategic plans on what to do about ISIS must have been music to their ears.

Perhaps if he stayed off the golf course and delayed his fund raising trips he might have time to listen to his advisors and come up with a plan?

I agree with Fred that this is a very ticklish situation but to do absolutely nothing is just not the right solution. It is possible there are things going on that we are not being told, and I hope that is the case.

It was reported today that ISIS is now firmly entrenched in Juarez Mexico, working with the drug cartel, and planning some attacks on US soil.

Damn it is a good thing our border is secure or we might need to be concerned about that.

Breakfastpop:

Ad hominem fallacy is not needed in a debate. Nor have I stated my opinion on the President being discussed. Nor do you know my voting preference. I also don't see how using liberal is an insult, but to each their own.

What executive order has Obama passed that has "unhinged" the government?

http://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidenti...

I have tried to find one, but I am unsure of what you mean? Do you mean those journalists who nit pick information so it makes a story that will sell? I'll give you an example:

Obama’s first act as President EXECUTIVE ORDER 13489 banning release of any of his records.

Read more at http://www.westernjournalism.com/a-comprehensive-l...

It states:

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in order to establish policies and procedures governing the assertion of executive privilege by incumbent and former Presidents in connection with the release of Presidential records by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) pursuant to the Presidential Records Act of 1978, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Then it goes into detail on how the NARA must handle Presidential Records in regards to the Presidential Records Act of 1978.

Further down, he checks himself:

(d) If the President decides to invoke executive privilege, the Counsel to the President shall notify the former President, the Archivist, and the Attorney General in writing of the claim of privilege and the specific Presidential records to which it relates. After receiving such notice, the Archivist shall not disclose the privileged records unless directed to do so by an incumbent President or by a final court order.

Majority of his executive orders have balance options to them, but majority of people don't read that much into it. Eh.

In regards to Bergdahl, the law can either be strictly interpreted or loosely interpreted. This has always been the case depending on how people want to argue a case. You have the side that says they were in their right to perform swiftly and you have the side that disagree. It is like the back and forth Constitution game. Sometimes people want to strictly interpret, sometimes they don't. It all depends on what side they are on.

In any case, after Abu Ghraib, they could shut down all of those prisons and Americas image might finally be spared a pretty ridiculous mark. 90% of people put into those prisoners during the war knew absolutely nothing. And the living conditions, regardless of extremist prisoners or not, were foul.

Every administration is full of controversies. They are human too and make the same mistakes. Stating that this administration will bring about Presidential immunity is an unbacked conclusion. The trend toward more Presidential power was started way before this administration. It is nothing new the President is as energetic as ever. To use the Framers term.

I am about to eat as well. Hope it is good!

POP: I'm late again. Hub Pages does not give me notifications of your hubs. Anyway, imagine the President reacting as he does to ISIS if he was in office when Hitler was coming into power. This would be a very different world. Our president needs to be impeached. Let us hope that the Senate becomes Republican in November; then we can proceed with the impeachment process. Obama needs to be neutralized. I am off to the bar.....

Hxprof 2 years ago from Clearwater, Florida

POP, regards your comment that Americans would vote him in again if given the chance....probably so.

Regards executive orders - I'll grant that I don't know a lot of details on the executive orders he's signed. I do know that he's circumvented the constitution, though yes, I agree with Fred that the "trend toward more Presidential power was started way before this administration"....yep, indeed it was. And with prescedence comes consequences. Obummer has made more than 40 changes to the ACA without Congress. Someone tell me what president has done this exact thing with a law before. Obummer has chosen not to enforce numerous laws and failed fully in securing our borders - Bush was a slacker on the borders as well, and I didn't like him either. For anyone who cares, securing US borders is a constitutional duty; currently it's a complete abortion. Even Bush would have dealt with the current crisis more responsibly than Obummer. Hell, he may even have reinforced the border when he got word the children were on their way. No matter, Bush was lousy.

No president since FDR has promised more stuff to more people and actually tried to deliver. Johnson promised alot with the War on Poverty and set a bad prescedent for the future, but Obummer promised to transform America, to level the playing field. Without saying it exactly, Obummer promised a socialist state, and that concept is completely at odds with our constitution, strict interpretation or not.

Looking beyond what Obummer has done, we can simply examine what he says and his attitudes. Everything about Obummer smells, and smells worse than any president I've seen.

Hxprof 2 years ago from Clearwater, Florida

By the way, just so no one jumps on this one figure, Obummer has changed the ACA more than 20 times without Congress. That's 20 some odd, 20 + change. OK? Forget the 40 number. That's right, just disregard the number 40.

Every time I hear the President speak regarding possible military action, I think back to the 'no boots on the ground' speech, where it eventually became clear that he meant we were going to bomb from the air. Given that, anytime I hear him say something with a 'no' in it, I think, well, that leaves open a whole lot of other stuff that he didn't talk about. The phrase 'no strategy for dealing with ISIS' may mean ISIL is in trouble, or it may mean something else entirely.

People who originally had concerns about ‘he talks the talk but can he walk the walk?’ can rest reassured that we have a new interpretation on how to answer that question with an emphatic ‘yes!’ After all, it is fairly logical that ‘double talk implies weasel walk’. Watch the strut - Is anybody up for a redo of the song 'Chickenhawk'?

Good Morning, Mike,

Hearing about the presence of ISIS on the border should be reason enough for Obama to raise the terror threat and come up with a strategy. Fred's rationale is that scandals are common place, all presidents make mistakes and this is no biggie. I beg to differ. The Jews also thought nothing terrible could happen to them until it did. Watchful waiting is not the answer. I'll see you at the Inn.

breakfastpop profile image

Good Morning, Fred,

As I mentioned to Old Poolman, writing off the inaction and actions of this administration as "nothing new" isn't true and is just an excuse to do nothing. "Doing nothing" has earned the U.S. the privilege of being laughed at and ignored. Obama could learn a thing or two from Cameron. Obama came across as a inept frightened little lost boy when he spoke the other day. Cameron spoke like a leader. Now is not the time for watchful waiting. The enemy is at our back door and the threat is real and probably imminent. As for impeaching Obama, I doubt that will ever happen. If Congress had the guts and the will, we might be saved from this president who prefers the golf course to the Oval Office. If he were to be impeached, there is plenty of compelling evidence to justify such an action. Obama has willfully refused to execute the laws faithfully and he has usurped the legislative authority of Congress. He has trashed the Constitution. He can be charged with dereliction of duty as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. He has failed to execute our immigration laws already in place. The Dept. of Justice has failed, on his watch, to execute our laws faithfully and fairly. He has undermined Congress's attempt to conduct oversight of Federal agencies. He has imposed despicable rules of engagement that have placed our soldiers in grave danger. He has allowed the Department of Justice to become political thereby failing to protect the rights of all the American people. He has encouraged racism by inserting himself in local matters and inflaming already tense situations. He has underplayed the terror threat by insisting that the massacre at Ft. Hood was workplace violence.

There will be no impeachment as long as the Senate lacks a two-thirds majority of Republicans. In the meantime, Obama's non-leadership has placed all of us in an impossible situation. We are engaged in a war on terror that this administration doesn't have the guts, ability or stomach to recognize. I could go on and on and on, but I will leave things here. Obama is the worst president in history and that will be his legacy.

These people who maintain their support of him, don't know a thing about his track record. They are ignorant of the facts and that is how they will remain. I'll be at the Inn on the early side and I'll save you a seat. Maybe we can devise a test for voters to see if they are capable of voting.

The voter test is a great idea but the Justice Department won't even allow a voter ID requirement so I think the test is out. I arrived at the Inn for breakfast and plan to spend the day. I'll see you here.

Holder couldn't pass the test!

Obama always looks for others to take the lead, so he won't be blamed and he's doing it again with ISIS. He wants other countries to fight ISIS, and just have the US support them. But ISIS is a direct threat to the US, because we already have ISIS members in Mexico plotting to use car bombs in the US. In fact, they may already be in the US!

This is our fight, and we are the big boys the rest of the world used to admire, but Obama is a coward, and is reluctant to engage any enemy, even if they are a direct threat to the US.

I once said that I hope Obama stays in office because if he quit, we'd have Joe Biden, but I've since changed my mind. Even Biden would be better than Obama.

Dear Will,

Honestly, I couldn't look at Obama when he told ISIS, us and the world that he had no strategy for dealing with these animals. That statement alone should get him impeached. He looked frightened and clueless. I'll see you at the Inn.

Surely by now Obama realizes he is in way over his head and will start listening to his advisors. His pen and his cell phone are not going to get him out of this one.

If ISIS does attack us on the border I wonder how they will deal with that when supposedly our border is now more secure than it has ever been. We could at least start by bringing in the welcome mat.

Dear Mike,

If Obama listens to anyone besides Jarrett, it will be a first. He never consults the military, which is unbelievable and unacceptable. There are brilliant people out there whose expertise would be invaluable, yet he surrounds himself with a few inexperienced Chicago friends. That is his comfort zone.

"Surely by now Obama realizes he is in way over his head and will start listening to his advisors. His pen and his cell phone are not going to get him out of this one."

He's a narcissist, so he is simply incapable of admitting, even to himself, that his inflated vision of himself could be wrong. He will simply go to his safe place, which is either fundraising where he will get his needed dose of adulation, or golfing, where he will be treated as royalty. I think he's tired of playing president, so now he's looking for a way out.

Well stated WillStarr and Pop. He could just quit and we would be better off I think.

Obama doesn't have to plan anything. Tell the military to destroy ISIS in Iraq and hit their bases in Syria. They'll let him know when it is done.

I'd be surprised if Obama gave that order. Everything to date indicates he believes in the ability to achieve World Peace, and would be willing to have the military roll over and play dead to get there.

As long as people are involved world peace can not be achieved.

Good Morning FitnezzJim,

It was revealed thismorning that the Pentagon has had a plan in place despite what the WH is saying. Yet another lie at our expense! See you at the Inn, the last safe place on the planet.

Good Morning Mike,

World peace made a good song for John Lennon but all it is and will ever be is a lyric. See you at the Inn.

Dear Will,

Obama is intractable and he only listens to biased and inexperienced people like Valerie Jarrett. The WH is telling us that they are waiting for the Pentagon to come up with a plan. The Pentagon says they have had one all along. I'll go with the Pentagon on this. I'll be at the Inn.

Good Morning Kyle,

Obama is incapable of making a plan. The Pentagon announced today that they have had one all along. They can't implement it without Obama's signature. Apparently, his pen has stopped working. See you at the Inn. It may exist only in our minds , but it is a great place to be.

How craft to change the letters to protect his image! There is talk about events happening on 9/11 again. Let's pray it is not so. And now we have the ebola virus entering our country as well.

Good Morning teaches,

We have very compelling reasons to be worried. It has been reported that ISIS is already in our country. Of course, the WH denies that. In the midst of all of this Hillary Clinton, the ogre who would be King, believes our most pressing problem is climate change. What a world! I'll be at the Inn all day!
