Operation Castaway

No, He Wouldn't Cover Up Anything, Would He?

This Isn't About Gilligan's Island Folks!

It seems that Operation Fast and Furious. conducted by the DOJ and BATFE, might just have a twin. Double your pleasure, double your guns, with government cover-up, cover-up just for fun. While we were looking over there, look and see what has been going on over here. This whole fiasco seems to be running deep with the Obama administration and the deeper it gets the more seems to be revealed. There needs to be some serious casting away going on from the top down. I call it taking out the garbage that should have not ever gotten in the house in the first place.

Reports are surfacing fast and furiously now about Operation Castaway. It seems that the Tampa field office of the ATF may have been conducting a companion operation of running guns into Central America, specifically to Honduras. It seems that approximately 1,000 guns were sold to violent drug gangs in Honduras. As the Congressional investigation continues to dig deeper into Fast and Furious, the dirt coming out of the hole stinks even more than I thought it did. But then again, the Obama administration seems to be inhabited by cesspool dwellers so it doesn't surprise me. Honduras today, the rest of the world tomorrow.

What is the grander plan in all of this? There has to be something behind the scenes going on here that stinks to high heaven. It's interesting to note that the acting head of the ATF, Kenneth Melson, testified that the federal government never tracked the guns in the first place. Now that amounts to true gun walking. Sell them and forget them then fire them and forget when they arrive in the hands of known criminals. Then the power that be can contend that all those big, bad firearms originated in this country and we need to do something about that, the Second Amendment be damned. That's what I smell.

This is an excerpt from a reliable source who is blowing the whistle on Virginia O'Brien, the head of the ATF field office in Tampa regarding Operation Castaway:

"but our source is certain that O’Brien has allowed the “walking” of straw-purchased firearms to Honduras using the same failed strategy as the Phoenix Field Division’s Operation Fast and Furious. That Operation Castaway involved arms smuggling to Honduras is also certain

This is confirmed as accurate,” the correspondence continued. “There are emails in existence where O’Brien has advised those involved that Tampa does not have to report their walked guns because Tampa FD is not a part of Southwest Border or Project Gunrunner.”

“From a first person source she is sh*tting herself trying to cover it up,” the report stated."

All this Frog can say is WOWSER! It seems that this can of worms is a jumbo sized, idiotic attempt at a gun grab here in our own nation. The walked guns are now alleged to be turning up all over the planet we call earth. And we, the dumb American public, are just supposed to bite the hook and believe that this was nothing more than this administration's attempt to stomp out violence and drug gangs? I'm not biting and I'll tell you why.

Go back to what Holder's fall guy, Melson, testified to: "the federal government never tracked the guns in the first place." So what was the intent of any of these operations and how many more occurred or are still occurring?

Maybe somebody has the answer. The DOJ and ATF aren't talking.

Guns With Feet And No Passport In Sight

Congressman Gus Bilirakis from Florida who sits on the House Committee on Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs is a bit incensed. He said, "he finds it “troubling” that the U.S. government would “willfully allow weapons to be acquired by dangerous criminal and drug trafficking organizations in direct contravention to our strategic and national interests.”

Troubling doesn't quite describe my reaction to all of this. People, some of our own, are being killed by this recklessness.

Bilirakis asked Holder and the ATF to confirm whether Operation Castaway occurred and if so what monitoring/tracking process they used to follow these guns into Honduras. He also wants to know if Operation Castaway has been terminated. With the stone walling and cover up that is occurring regarding Fast and Furious and Operation Gun Runner I hope Gus doesn't hold his breath while he's waiting for the truth. After all, Holder is the Attorney General and he wouldn't know the truth if it came up and bit him in the butt.

The Frog shakes his head in disgust and hops off...

Let me see if I have this straight. The present administration is doing their best to get guns out of the hands of US citizens, but letting guns walk into Mexico and Honduras. Dang, something is wrong with this picture but I just can't put my finger on it. Guess I need another cup of coffee.

Why would anyone be surprised? At the rate this clown is going in... I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of his term, we find out we've been played like a scene from the "Italian Job!!"

Well, they are not idiots, so we have to assume there was an intended purpose. As it happens, we don't have to look very far...the Obama administration hates the notion of armed Americans!

Now we learn that Eric Holder's DOJ has ordered that dealers in the affected states notify the ATF of anyone who buys more than one weapon on their list, using Fast and Furious as an excuse!

Ghost32 5 years ago

Dang. That graphic of Holder makes him look like Gordon Liddy maybe could be related, except that Holder lacks either Liddy's cojones OR his common sense. Did you have to make that connection in my head? I LIKE Gordon! LOL!

On a serious note...this sucks.

Will - The problem is that they the American public are idiots. Look over here while we do this over there seems to be the Obama theme. I laughed when I heard there new registration idea. Yeah, right. You let thousands and thousands of guns walk then want to talk tough. BS!

Ghost - I wonder if this is part of the "under the radar" talk that Obama gave Jim and Sara Brady in the White House back in March.

Jed - A canteloupe? Give me a heads up when you can knock the wings off a gnat at that range. I'm just sayin... LMAO

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Feds automatically get notification when anyone buys a firearm from a licensed dealer. This notification thing is nothing new, it has been going on for quite some time. The only way out would be to purchase a gun from a private party or perhaps at one of the gun shows.

OP - Unless things have changed I believe that you have to fill out an application, have your info run through the NCIC and wait about three days. I'm not sure that applies here. Maybe someone can answer the gun show question.

Hi Old Poolman,

To purchase a firearm from a dealer (gunshow or gun shop), you are run through the instacheck system, which takes mere minutes. After that, the agency must delete that purchase record BY LAW!

All purchase records are kept by the dealer (also by law) and made available to law enforcement, should that gun ever be used in a crime.

What Obama wants to do is keep records on gun buyers, in direct violation of the law!

He has become an outlaw.

Jed - Pickup a 50 cal sniper rifle. All you need to do then is get close to the gnat.

Will - I don't go to gun shows so thanks for the info. Got it.

My son is an enthusiast, so I sometimes go to gun shows with him. Contrary to lying gun controllers, there's no gun show loophole.

In any case, criminals don't buy their guns at gun shows anyway. They buy them from illegal street dealers.

Will - I went into Norman's Gun Shop down the road to check out the specs on a certain model for a friend who knows little about pistols. I asked him the questions I was supposed to ask and asked if he could deal with someone from out of state. No was the answer. Then he looked me in the eye and said, "I can sell you one today though."

I looked at him with a dead stare and said, "Norman, I don't need a gun, I can kill you with my bare hands." We both cracked up.

Hi Frog,

I'm numb at this point. Normally a thread like this would make my eyes pop open. It's hard not to become so desensitized that you just give up. As you know, I am very activist, but sometimes I really have to give myself a whack in the head to keep going. I feel like an ant fighting an elephant.

Naomi's Banner 5 years ago

Once again the double standard! There is no way we are giving up our weapons to the government if they ate so careless to give this kind of a lethal weapon to drug cartel what freaking ever! It is time we Americans take back our country. I gave your hub a vote up but it's not awesome and it's not a bit funny!!!!!!!

Stu - I just got back from a local Tea Party leadership pow wow and that very subject came up. People are starting to get numb from all this crap the last 2 plus years.

Naomi - This is all part of the pretext to stomp on our Second Amendment rights. It ain't gonna happen.

Stu From VT 5 years ago

Who can blame them? We've got a runaway train here, Congress is unwilling to repeal any prior abuses, his signing statements and illegal EO's stand, and almost anyone who files a court case is hit with "standing." Even after disseminating two phony BC's, nobody has standing to even subpoena his real US BC, if in fact one really even exists.

Obama and his admin are criminals, the courts are too activist to do anything about it, the Senate is in his hip pocket, and the House is too wishy-washy to really fight (they'll block, but they won't apply pressure to resolve prior abuses). Obama has achieved semi-dictatorial power.

Don't get too optimistic about the Second Amendment. The Senate just voted 79-20 (one not present or abstaining) to approve gutting the Appointments Clause of the Constitution, WITHOUT planning for state ratification. This is clearly illegal, but Obama got 79 votes. In this particular case, the House could kill it, because this is conventional domestic legislation. But the UN Small Arms Treaty will ONLY require a Senate vote (2/3 supermajority) and Obama's signature; the House will have no say because it is a treaty. If Obama got a 79% majority on a clear illegal breach of the Appointments Clause, why couldn't he get a 67% majority on a violation of the Second Amendment?

Froggy, I wonder what Ollie North would say. It's been a little while since you wrote this, have you noticed it's no longer in the news.

Marcoujor, I guy from my high scholl created and wrote the song for Gilligan's Island, Sherwood Schwartz. He also created the Brady Bunch. Unfortunately he just passed away at 96. I guess I'm proud of all the success, hrer's a sampling http://www.nndb.com/edu/788/000095503/ H
