Pass the Health Care Bill

Health Care or No Health Care

Who is at fault if we do not pass health care reform this year.  Some say it is the President's fault.  I disagree.  The President does not have bill to sign if the bill cannot get through both houses of the Congress.  The only thing President Obama should have done differently was to have the debates broadcast on CSPAN for those of us who wanted to watch the debate.  This would have accomplished at least two things.

1. Americans would have had the chance to see their Congresssional members in action.  Both the Republicans and Democrats would have not had the opportunity to run away from their own objections to the bill.  For instance if someone of either party introduced an item for the bill and the item was included and they still voted no on the bill, the American people would see for themselves.

2. This would also settle whether or not the President kept his word regarding transparency in the process.  The critics would not be focusing on this issue and would be focusing on the bill itself.

I still believe that this should take place. I for one would like to see exactly what amendments were put forth by the Republican congressman which are included in the bill now before the House.  The Republicans keep repeating that they have had not input into this bill.  Although the President and other have said several times that this is not true.    The recordings of all these negotiations should be broadcast on CSPAN so that we all can see what is true.

Where Should We Go From Here

I don't understand why we need to stop the passage of health care at this time.  The House of Representative should pass the senate bill because we all know that the final product still will be worked on in the future.  It is really unbecoming of the house to not vote to pass the Senate bill because we really need a health care bill to pass.  I for one have two college aged children which will have to start paying for their own health insurance because they are over age 22 and weill be removed from my insurance this year.  This is one of the best items in this bill, but it is never taled about.  I just think that the Congressmen are thinking more about the mid year elections than they are about the citizens who need some of the provisions of this bill.  I just don't understand why it has taken this long to complete this task.  The Democrats have become their own worst enemy because they took so long, they no longer have the majority to pass the legislation.  This however, does not mean that the American people should suffer.

It's unconstitutional.

It's unsustainable.

The government can't run anything efficiently.

A 22 year old should already be paying for his/her own health care. They're old enough to vote, drink, enlist, run for public office; they can start supporting themselves.

Forgive my blatant honesty, but I don't want to pay for your children's health insurance. I won't ask you to pay for mine. Of course, I'm assuming a healthy 22 year old who is able to hold a job and earn money. The vast majority of 22 year olds are ready to make their own way in the world. This includes insurance.

22 is an adult, and they can vote for their own destiny.
