President Barak Obama 2010

President Barak Obama

President Barak Obama and a Democrat majority controlled Congress RECENTLY COMPLETED the second year of the Obama Presidency.

The Obama Administration and a Democrat Congress passed important legislation without the need of the minority party Republicans. The November 2010 election resulted in the Democrats losing the House of Representatives but still retaining control of the Senate.

Many of the promises made by the President when campaigning and when taking the oath of office in 2009 remain to be accomplished. Previously, I wrote regarding the Presidents first year in the Whitehouse a list of his promises to the American people if elected.http://hubpages.com/hub/obamacampaignfailedpromises

In the article I listed 11 promises that President Obama made to the American people. After reviewing the list it should be noted that items 1, 3,4,6,7,10 and 11 are yet to be completed. He has failed to bring the jobs back lost in the recession, failed to control spending, failed to rid Washington of special interest and lobbyist, failed to have open and transparent government, failed to close Gitmo, failed to end the war in Afghanistan and failed to reduce the deficit by 50% in his first term.

The only accomplishments that one could possibly consider a kept promise is on items 2. spending on the $825 billion Stimulus Bill , item 5. surround himself with experienced and capable people ( could be questionable) and item 9. give 95% of the people a tax break ( really not a tax break but he didn‘t raise everyone’s taxes)

President Barak Obama’s second year in office deserves a rating of a ‘’D’’. Surely the economy, jobs, high yearly deficits, wasteful spending in US government programs, increasing the size of government and government regulations all contribute to his ’’D ’’ rating.

Major other accomplishments of the administration under the Democrat led Congress include passing the Stimulus Bill, Healthcare Reform bill ( presently being contested by the states as unconstitutional ),Banking Regulations Bill, ‘’don’t ask don’t tell’’ Bill, an extension of the Bush tax cuts, bail out of the auto industry, take over of the Student Loan programs, Arms Control Agreement with Russia , Pay-Go legislation and his financial support of Alternate Energy industries.

THE YEAR 2010

Shortly after President Obama took office in Jan. 2009 The Obama administration approved a $ 2 billion loan to a Brazilian oil company to drill for offshore oil in Brazil that would create jobs in Brazil. It was reported that one of Obama’s campaign donors( George Soros ) purchased $ 900 million in stock of that company ( Petrobas ). Coincidence or simply taking care of friends and associates? If a moratorium was reinstated, many of the rigs would leave the gulf for other parts of the world. One destination was the waters off Brazil.

As with President George Bush’s Administration ( Katrina disaster ) , President Barak Obama had the BP Oil spill disaster in March 2010.The handling of the disaster by the Obama administration has been criticize as being inadequate and incompetent by oil industry professionals. As of today, the testing of the shut off valve apparatus has not been completed.

The government is delaying the final reporting and hindering the final testing to be completed. Who, what and why is the government delaying the report. The Obama administration’s actions during and after the disaster , today due to the problems in the middle east and the moratorium that the Obama Administration placed on US oil drilling production, have created an economical crisis in the US. With the rising cost of gasoline and rising food prices the economy and the job recovery are at risk again. My previous articles that I wrote back in 2010 now seem to support what is occurring today. BP Oil leak 5/30/10

hubbers

The oil companies can drill in Alaska if the US Government would release the permits. Drilling for oil in Alaska at 100+ feet instead of 5000 feet in the gulf don't make any sense. The safety of divers, if a repair had to be done, diving that deep is unconscionable and dangerous. Not to use our nation's natural resources first before buying foreign oil is a pitiful example of stupidity and arrogance. The high cost of gasoline in 2008 was part of the cause of the recession.

On 6/14/10, I wrote Hubbers President Barak Obama visited 3 gulf states today, didn’t say anything new in his press conferences, just another Photo Opt and Hollywood production. Elected State and Federal Officials requests to President Obama to remove the moratorium ( because of the economical damages to their economies) have been ignored. This President is showing his incompetence , inexperience and inability to understand the impact on the US economy, unemployment and the loss of US oil suppliers. Drilling platforms are leaving the gulf area and relocating them to other parts of the world which will require the need for more foreign oil . Day 56 and the oil leak continues without resolve.

On Tues. 6/15/10, President Obama will speak to the nation and hopefully give an honest true assessment of the calamity. The people would like answers as to why the government did not consider help offered from other nations in the 3 days after the accident. Why did the EPA delay approvals of corrective actions promptly? Why did the government refuse BP’s offer of $ millions to form berms dredged from the Mississippi river ? A reminder for all to realize that ‘’ we are a nation of the rule of law. ‘’

hubbers

Today, 7/3/10, Obama made his third trip to Louisiana to inspect the sands and to access the damages to the area caused by the BP oil leak. Placing a moratorium ( because of 1 accident )on drilling will cost 30,000 jobs and the need for foreign oil will escalate the price of gas.

HUBBERS

ON 7/27/10 I WROTE Oil Moratorium In The Gulf

The Obama administration and the Democrat Congress continues to impose a moratorium on oil drilling A federal judge on two occasions has overruled the directive by President Barak Obama. In these troubled economical times President Obama’s actions seem to be suspect as to why a loss of some possibly 100,000 jobs is of no concern to him or the Democrat Congress.

Drilling companies are relocating the platforms to other countries due to the uncertainty of government’s actions to continue the moratorium. It was reported that some of the platforms are relocating in Brazilian waters. Is there a connection between our government’s actions, Barak Obama’s political backers , a government loan to Brazilian oil companies to drill for oil in Brazil and George Soros’s recent investments in the oil company who received the loan? Their idea to place moratoriums on oil drilling and withholding approval of permits to drill simply don’t make a lot of sense. It’s ok to fund foreign companies to drill and hire more workers than to support our workers and companies in the USA.

ON 3/1/11 I recently wrote

HUBBERS, The Obama Administration approved the first permit in 314 days since the BP oil spill to allow drilling in 6000 feet deep water in the gulf. It should be noted that Obama has defied court orders ( 2 TIMES ) to lift moratoriums on shallow water drilling permits. There are 4 permits that could be approved which could employ some 50,000 workers and help relieve the high oil prices hurting the US economy.

One must wonder why President Barak Obama would not immediately order the permit approvals because of the dangers to the security of the United States with all the turmoil in the middle east. Congress is not without blame since they have voted to not drill for offshore and Alaskan oil. Maybe the newly elected members to Congress can help to change the mentality of the political brain dead members.

Wake up America, Congress and President Obama needs to act NOW. The Middle East protests continues and the price of a barrel of oil on 3/7/11 hit $105.00 and gasoline prices rose to $5.00 a gallon in parts of the country. The Obama Administration is being asked to release some of the strategic oil supplies. Some wonder why President Obama and Congress are delaying actions to avoid another disaster in the economy.

Wake up America, the US Government’s actions are not in the best interest of it’s citizens in these troubled times. Think about it ‘’ you can fool some of the people some of the times but you can’t fool all the people all the times ‘’

In our local business section- AUTOMAKERS

FORD MOTOR CO.'S TWO TOP EXECUTIVES RECEIVED NEARLY $100 MILLION WORTH OF STOCK FOR THEIR PERFORMANCE during 2009 and 2010, years in which the company's profits and stock price surged.2009 profits were $2.7 billion and $6.6 billion in 2010.

That can't be right, Ford didn't accept any taxpayer money to bail them out from going under. What does that tell one about the bailout of GM and Chrysler.Maybe Ford didn't have friends in Congress and the Whitehouse.

CORRUPTION IN OUR GOVERNMENT, NO can't happen.

Ok so I voted for Obama, the democratic party. Yes, I am very disappointed in that most promises have not been kept. Let us be real, the mouth can say anything, but the proof is in the pudding. It is about getting it done.I believed Obama would have a difficult time getting Republican support at every turn which has been the case. I have to wonder though is the resistence just because he is a Democrate, and took on too much at one time, messed with health care and is somewhat unstable in his decision making or is it something else? Whatever the reasons, congress should be for the people, not against us.

President Obama held a whitehouse press conference this morning , 3/11/11. He answered questions and spoke of the Japan earthquake and the situation in Libya. The president did not take any questions on what’s happening in Congress regarding the 2010 budget. Taking the liberty to speak, President Obama mentioned that the Republican proposed $61billion cuts in the 2010 budget were cutting Pell grants and other programs that were essential to the economy. Barak ‘’ I’’ Obama proceeded to say that ‘’I ‘’ will meet the Republicans half way. The Democrats and ‘’I Obama wants to cut $6.1 billion, actually $4.6 billion. Some how his math looks like fuzzy math again. I must say that Barak ‘’I ‘’ Obama was not truthful in his comments.

It’s only time that the American people will wake up and call him on his statements. The president again stated that we must live within our means. What a statement, the Feb. deficit was $222.5 billion for only ONE MONTH. OBAMA ONE MONTH $222.5 BILLION, BUSH DEFICIT $1.6 BILLION IN 12 MONTHS. Who is the big spender?

Jon, Great, as usual! I wanted him repealed as soon as he was sworn in. The man really believes he is a leader, far from it. He would have passed nothing if he didn't have a super majority.

I bet if he wakes up in the middle of the night, he asks Michelle if he should go the bathroom. H

We have a President who is so incompetent that he has no idea of the high office he was elected too. While the world is in turmoil and our foreign policy changes daily, President Obama continues his weekly campaign trips. I can recall how Congress and the President chastised the auto industry executives of the use of their private jets. President Barak ’’ I ’’ Obama remains ignorant and arrogant to the facts that our country economy is in danger. The question remains is when the people will speak out and awaken the politicians in Congress.

Thank you all for your comments

3/20/11 WHERE IS THE PRESIDENT?

With all the turmoil happening in the world today, our Congress remains

silent to the actions of President Obama. The 2010/2011 budget resolve

continues. The 2011/2012 proposed budget projects another $1.5 trillion

deficit to be negotiated and approved. The President provides no leadership

to resolve the issues.President Obama is on a trade mission visiting 5

countries in South America including Brazil. The Presidents 314 day oil

drilling moratorium in the gulf forced some of the oil rigs to relocate to

Brazil. In other words, we sent the jobs to Brazil.

A Brazilian oil company was granted a drilling permit in the gulf on 3/24/11, shortly after President Obama came back to the whitehouse.Petrobas was granted funding from a US bank recently. The loan has guarantees given by the bank, sounds something that should be investigated. George Soros recently bought $900 million of the companies stock. You remember George Soros who was a contributor to the Obama campaign and who on many occasions visits the Whitehouse.

The US based oil drilling companies are still waiting for permits since before the oil drilling moratorium was lifted.OH yes, one company did recently receive a permit after Congress pressured the energy department.

President Obama announced ‘’ my ‘’ energy plan this week. He said ‘’ the US imports 11million barrels a day when he was sworn into office in 2009 ‘’. Obama’s plan will reduce imported oil by 33% in 10 years.

What he didn’t say was that we import today 9.7 million barrels a day. Without using his plan the US has already reduced oil imports 1.3 million barrels a day.

That’s remarkable since having Obama placed a moratorium on drilling in the gulf for almost a year. There were seven permits that were not released until one was released recently, 5 are still waiting. Upon Obama’s return from Brazil, Petrogras, a Brazilian company got a permit, a bank loan and a loan guarantee within days. When Obama presented his plan on 3/30/11 ,a barrel of oil cost $102.00,the next day it was $104.00 and today it closed at $106.00. He has no desire to bring oil prices down or he is just ignorant to the wants of the people.

Congress is silent as to stopping the rise of oil. The Wall street Bankers, George Soros and large Union pension funds speculators are causing the rise in oil prices just as they did in 2007 when the Democrats took over majority control of both Congress .

Wake up America, prepare for the second recession.

I am 14 years old and here is my opinion, you have responded to a comment made about my political views. The only reason, and I am being completely honest, I have little political bias, but the only reason that people do not like Obama is because they are republican, and even if they voted for Obama they don't like him because "he hasn't done everything he said he would." This is true and you know it because if McCain was elected then all the democrats would be upset with McCain. Also, sure Obama is not doing everything he said he would but its not like he isn't trying. It's not like he came into office with a clean slate, think about it he had the middle-east and the economy to deal with. He has helped the economy even only slightly, and he has done the best he can with the middle east. Now he has Japan and Libya and problems in America on his plate as well. What would really be different if McCain became president besides all the republicans liking the president? What is so bad about president Obama?

I can't watch he whole program because I have school, after school activities and homework that I must engage in. But I will watch some of it a comment about what I notice. I apologize first because I judged it before I even took the time to look at it. However, in my second comment I did ask for YOUR opinion, and you have yet to tell me what YOUR opinion is. Also, Fox does have a conservative bias. And maybe I do have a bias against Fox, whether it is that I like them or not, but you too, sir, have a bias against them as well which is that you like them. I also said the same thing about MSNBC, that they have a liberal bias. Also, what other reason beside Fox's conservative bias would democrats not want to be on fox?

To begin with (about the video) i think that there should be a flat tax. I am not quite sure of what percentage, if I were into economics, deeply, then I might be able to determine, but perhaps of around %8-%15. There should be no tax breaks at all, this eliminates the loopholes with taxes. Also, every decision with an amount of money over one million dollars should be voted on by congress. To help decrease spending, earmarks should be illeagal. I agree with republicans on a lot of things, and I agree with democrats on a lot of things, that's why it is hard for me to agree totally with the republicans or democrats.

When he says that the problem of the deficit is spending in Washington he is right. However, you cannot stop everything that is wasted spending unless it is monitored closely, that is why it must voted on by congress, and is monitored closely. Also if the government has more incoming money, then the deficit will decrease as long as spending is monitored correctly. With discretionary spending, some of the stuff is necessary but some of it is not, we need to cut out the things that aren't necessary. The idea of obamacare is not so bad and is constitutional. However, congress has taken this bill and changed around so much that it translates to crap. This is why America is so upset over it, because of all the changes that have been made to it such as earmarks.

Finally, as for everything in the middle-east, who knows? If you do one thing then something bad will happen, if you do another then something bad will happen, from there it is weighing out the consequences, and I think that obama is trying the best he can. What interest would he have doing otherwise?

So let me know what YOU think, please don't send me another link from fox unless it is another issue you want to bring up, otherwise, please express YOUR opinion with YOUR own words. Let me know what you think about my views, I greatly appreciate you time and comments, and thanks for not treating me like a child. Thank you and have a great day!

''I did give it to what I saw, which is about HALF of the video, so take a look I posted about taxes, the middle-east, and healthcare? Because those conclusions ....''

The first half was about the 2010-2011 budget that should have been passed last year by Aug 2010 and the deficits that Congress now is facing. For you as a 14 year old, the arguement is over your head, the simple solution is to cut spending. The president and the Democrat Senate haven't proposed a solution and a budget proposal. Without an approved budget the government does not have any contol of spending. Congressman Ryan's budget plan has been rejected by the other party and the President. Now the question remains for you to understand the process and who and why are our representatives in Congress cannot compromise and agree to a solution to the problems. The President should have taken the lead on the 2010-2011 budget last year when his party had super majority control of the government.

Your thoughts on the budget matters please.

I am curious as to where you arrived at the conclusions from the topics in your first hub reply.

Where are you getting information and how do you determine a fact from fiction?

Are you going to a public or charter school?

YoungOne 5 years ago

When he says in the video that the problem of the deficit is spending in Washington he is right. If congress were to vote on any tax payer's money that is used over the amount of 100 million dollars. However, you cannot stop everything that is wasted spending unless it is monitored closely, that is why it must voted on by congress, and is monitored closely. Also if the government has more incoming money, then the deficit will decrease as long as spending is monitored correctly. With discretionary spending, some of the stuff is necessary but some of it is not, we need to cut out the things that aren't necessary, which should be decided on by congress. Congress is really disgrace. They play childish games against each other. They disagree with each other only to disagree with each other. They just sit up there leaving the few that actually do care to fend for themselves. It's horrible how immature they act. They were elected for a specific job, and they aren't doing it. Congress should make a flat tax with no tax breaks. This will decrease the deficit and allow a fair tax system for all. Yes the simple solution is to cut spending, but the better solution is to cut spending and increase the amount of income for the government. Thanks, look forward to your reply.

AN UPDATE on Obama energy plan.

On 4/22/11, President Obama on 2012 election campaign trail announced that he is naming a panel to investigate the rising price of oil and if speculators in crude oil prices are breaking the US commodity trading laws. He commented that using foreign oil is putting $ millions of US dollars in the hands of people who do not like us. For whatever reasons President Barack Obama has failed to release oil drilling permits and has curtailed the oil companies from restarting production here in the United States. The head of our government is exposing his opposition to the oil, gas and coal industries. The high oil prices are not helping the poor, middle class and small businesses to get out of the recession. When President Obama took office in Jan 2009, a gallon of gasoline was $1.843. On 4/23/11 gasoline prices hit $5.16 a gallon in Florida and California. In Jan. 2009 a barrel of oil was $37.74, today on the world market crude oil prices hit $124 a barrel and here in the US IT HIT $112 a barrel. One must wonder when the president will understand that the national security is at risk and that Obama’s inactions are not in the best interest of the American people and the economy.

On 5/24/11 a report on the Stimulus Funding was presented to some members of Congress. Senator Coburn is calling for a investigation as to why companies and non profits were given stimulus funds who owe the government federal taxes. It appears that 3700 contractors and non profits doing work for the government received $24 billion of stimulus funds.

The Obama administration has approved over 1500 waivers to Obamcare, most of which were union affiliated plans. Recently 23 companies and unions were exempted from the legislation, 20% of those GRANTED on that day were in Congresswomen Pelosi’s district in San Francisco. How convenient for the Democrat leader. Remember when than Speaker Pelosi said ‘’ we need to pass the bill so that we can see what’s in it ‘’

The President wants Congress to pass an extension of the Payroll Tax Deduction. The Republicans want to pass the tax extension too. The Senate Democrats want to pass the tax holiday too. Sounds like everyone agrees to extend the tax holiday for WORKING CITIZENS. The Republicans are following the Pay Go law that was passed in Feb 2010 by the Democrat super majority Congress and signed into law by President Obama. Pay-Go legislation requires that any new expenditure or tax , middle class payroll tax holiday, will require cutting present budget expenditures to pay for the expenditure. The President and the Democrats refuse to abide by the requirements of the PAY-GO law.

On Dec.06, 2011, President Obama again said that the Republicans are holding up passage of the extension of the Tax Holiday claiming that if the bill is not passed, the Republicans will be raising taxes on the middle class. President Obama fails to point out that the House has passed 24 jobs bills laying stagnate in the Democrat Senate waiting to be brought on the floor for debate, amend and/or approve.

Under the leadership of President Obama, the Senate has not presented a budget proposal for 952 days going back to 2009.A 2012 budget has been approved by the Republican House in Feb and sent to the Senate awaiting to be presented to Senate members.

The fact is that 2/3’s of our government is not working in the best interest of the people. Where and when will congress act to get the promised jobs? Blaming the 1/3 that is working is disingenuous and misleading.

Obama and Congress are awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare which should be released next week. Arizona's Immigration Law SB 1070 also will have a decision rendered. It could be a tough week for the Democrats .

Obama and the Democrats have reason to be worried if Obamacare is revoked.
