Presidential Do-Overs

My Way or the Highway!

Good Morning Breakfastpoppers. Today is Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Our friend, Chiquita Cicada, has joined me this morning for breakfast. She wanted to discuss President Obama and his seemingly strong belief that he is a majority of one when it comes to legislation. Please come on over to my place and join in the conversation. I will be serving French Toast and martinis.

Hello, my adored human family. I started adding up all the changes that President Obama has made to the Unaffordable Care Act. Thus far he has changed the law an astounding 24 times, and he did so without Congress and you. The latest change was the President's decision to delay Obamacare's employer mandate. His excuse, as always, is that Republicans refuse to cooperate and so he will bypass the entire process that keeps our country from becoming a dictatorship. Just like dictatorships all over the world, he will act alone and the people must obey. I can only surmise that he really prefers this method of governing. It is less complicated, less democratic, unconstitutional used in the way he uses it, and expedient. It works for the President, but it does not work for you.

He Has All He Needs...

What About The Constitution?

It is quite clear to this bug that when Congress objects to President Obama's policies, the President just dismisses their objections ( and yours by extension) and moves on. The restraints inherent in the Constitution are not a deterrent to the "man who is now King." When laws are inconvenient to this Administration, they are unilaterally ignored. Literally, the present and future of your nation are in one man's hands, and that my dear friends is a very frightening reality. This laissez-faire attitude has been extended to and adopted by the EPA. Gina McCarthy is the administrator of the EPA. She recently spoke to a group of scientists asking them to help advance President Barack Obama's agenda on climate change. She told the group that she needed them to stand up together and move forward to meet the needs of the President. Once again, President Obama has made it clear that he will not be held hostage by opposition to his views in Congress or anywhere else. He has given the EPA massive powers to do as they wish on his behalf, not yours. Congress, the Constitution and you have been written out of the equation. You simply do not exist in President Obama's world if you disagree with his vision for America. If you are not scared now, you should be. Rule by Executive Orders has been used by other Presidents. The purpose was usually to help the government function poperly. The goal was never meant to tie the hands of government and place all the power in the Executive Branch. The Constitution exists for a reason. It is neither out-dated or irrelevant. I respectfully suggest that all three branches of government be required to read it again. I say "again" in the hope that they may have read it at least once. I say it, but I don't believe it. If Congress doesn't read bills before they pass them, they surely wouldn't be interested in reading the Constitution.

Impeachments Held Here

Source

It Couldn't Hurt To Try...

Impeachment in your nation is in the hands of the legislature. Congress can level charges against a civil officer in government for crimes committed in office. Normally the lower house of the legislature will impeach the official and the upper house will conduct the trial. The removal from office is automatic upon conviction in the Senate. Needless to say, impeachment proceedings can be brought against President Obama, but in the end he will remain in power 'going it alone" until his last days in the White House. Bringing impeachment charges would accomplish one thing. It would express the utter disgust of so many citizens when they watch their rights being trampled every day by an administration that feels quite certain they can do anything they want. The effort will fail to remove President Obama, but at least future generations will know that there were many, many citizens who were extremely concerned about the trashing of the Constitution and the silencing of the people.

Freedom of the Press Plunges

If there are people out there who are not phased by the way things are going in the nation, just think about this for a minute. Your nation's rating on freedom of the press and government transparency is at an all time low. Under President Obama the United States has dropped to 46th in the 2014 World Press Freedom Index. Remember when President Obama promised to run a totally transparent administration? Well, I suggest you remember those words and weep for your country.

Take care of your nation

or it will fade away???? I think you and I both know that the fading has begun and nobody is paying attention. I don't much care about either Party, but I do care about the Constitution and yes, our rights are disappearing. Well done, entertaining, and right on!

Pop and Chiquita,

I agree with your stance on impeachment. I'm tired of hearing lawmakers use the excuse that the Senate would not convict so impeachment is futile but it is not futile for the record of history to state our objections in the only "legal" recourse we have at this time, impeachment.

Good Morning billybuc,

Both parties must feel I am aligned with them because they both send me stuff and ask for money. I'd laugh if it all weren't so dangerous. We have lost our way, haven't we? See you at the Inn. I will be wearing a snowsuit which is now my usual attire.

Good Morning Tom,

I am glad we are on the same page. Obama has usurped the responsibilities of the other two branches of government and he needs to face the music, even if he comes out of it dancing. See you at the Inn, Tom.

Chiquita - Nothing this President does surprises me anymore.

You need to be aware that this man will never be impeached because of the color of his skin. He could have chosen to represent himself as white, but at some point in his life he decided to be black.

No politician or political party would ever want it on their record that they tried to impeach the first black President of the US. I also believe that Obama is aware of this fact.

We can only hope the clock runs out without too much damage caused by this inept and unqualified President and this administration. The next President will have a huge job just repairing some of the damage that has been caused.

It is also possible that a test is being run to determine just how far they can bend the Constitution before it breaks?

Dear Old Poolman,

I also understand that Obama will never actually be impeached, but I want history to show that we tried to put a stop to his lawlessness. See you at the Inn.

Good observations. An impeachment proceeding was initiated against Bill Clinton with the full knowledge that the Democratic Senate would not vote to convict. The proceeding did accomplish its purpose though by letting Clinton know what he needed to know. He was out of bounds. Obama is way past being out of bounds. He's out of the ball park and needs to be impeached. If we flip the Senate in November and do a good cleaning of the riff raff then it just may be that Obama does get impeached. His lawlessness doesn't need to be tolerated anymore.

But that means that Jovial Joe would be president, so let's not be too hasty here!

POP: I just heard the results of a poll asking "Do you regret voting for Obama in 2012?" An overwhelming majority said yes. 71% of the independents stated so, and 100% of hispanics said yes. Black voters - 61% said no, but that means that 39% have had it with him. I am most interested in the Hispanics, since this question was asked before anyone was talking the amnesty issue! We are not blind. Obama is due for a rude awakening in November!!!!!!

Off to the bar now see you there....

Dear Frog Prince,

If we manage to flip the Senate than all is good. If not, the point will be made. See you the Inn.

Der Will,

It is highly unlikely that Obama will be impeached. If Biden takes over I think we have nothing to fear. He'll crack a few jokes and move on. See you at the Inn.

Dear Pino,

From your mouth to God' ears. I am looking forward to the rude awakening. See you at the Inn.

By the time we get to Harry, we would be in the midst of revolution. See you at the Inn.

Flipping the Senate is not going to happen. Data on Senate elections has overwhelmingly indicated that the People are re-electing the Democratic Senators who voted for Health Care, in States that joined the lawsuits to overturn HealthCare. By overwhelming, I mean:

In 2010, four of seven of those Senators were re-elected.

In 2012, five of five of those Senators were re-elected.

In 2014, eight of those Senators are up for re-election.

The facts are that the People ARE voting to support partisan representation in the Senate, rather than voting to support States representation in the Senate. That basic fundamental that we were taught in school has changed, has been upheld by the Supreme Court, and is being supported by vote of the People. The rude awakening, once we who object wake up, is that we’ve already changed. A side effect of that is the President will NOT be impeached. In fact, it is far more likely that the Amendment barring more than ten years as President will be repealed, just in time for Hillary to be elected Queen. I mean really, at this point, what difference does it make anyway?

In the end, you get what you fail to vote against.

Sadly, I don' think any of the three branches have ever read the constitution. It is sad that it is even considered as obsolete. I'm standing with you on this, Pop!

Good Morning FitnezzJim,

I hate the idea that in the end I have to accept what I didn't vote for. I did hear this morning that many Dems are turning their backs on Obama for doing such a lousy job. As far as impeachment is concerned, I know he will never be impeached but it behooves us to make the effort. History must show that we didn't really sit back and let our freedom slip away. See you at the Inn and we'll "talk" some more.

Good Morning teaches,

I agree that the Constitution would be above their reading level. I think they should all go back to school so the rest of us can stop paying for their stupidity! See you at the Inn.

Chiquita, I now know why Obumma got elected. Most voters are morons. Here is an example; A TV reporter stopped a young woman on the street and told her President Roosevelt just died. What would she say to his widow, Eleanor? She sisn't know shat to say to her. That person votes, and that is why we have that thing in the white house.

breakfastpop profile image

Good Morning taxlarry,

I saw that too. It was pathetic and yes, that's why we have Obama in the WH and Pelosi and Reid in Congress along with Schummer and I could go on and on and on. See you at the Inn where a french fry has a higher IQ than most of America!

I actually quite often myself rather astonished how much not just Obama, but his entire administration is essentially given a pass. Not just by the Congress. But the press. It is just a very perplexing thing to me. The ONLY hope is that the American people are no so willing...and I think based on the poll numbers they're not. 2014 will be an opportunity to put the brakes on. But really 2016 is the real deal I think. If Hilary gets the presidency, I think that will seal the deal for me. America is lost.

breakfastpop profile image

breakfastpop 2 years ago Author

Good Morning Springboard,

I think about this very thing all the time. For many people, just knowing that they have a President who wants them on food stamps and working less is comforting. Those are the ones you and I support. For many others, they are just complacent and totally caught up in their own daily grind. They don't read anything or listen to anything, because they have neither the time or the interest. When all of Obama's policies finally hit home in terms of lost insurance, freedoms and security some of them will be forced to wake up. Having said that, I too believe that if Hillary wins we are doomed.
