Prices Going Up-Outsourcing Jobs Continue

The Incredible Shrinking Dollar
The Incredible Shrinking Dollar

PRICE OF GAS $3.00 a gallon, OMG here we go again! Congress and/or the president should be imposing a price freeze on everything! I have always been a bargain shopper, having raised five children on my own, and they too are frugal shoppers. However, in todays dissolving economy one has to watch their pennies due to the ever increasing prices....

That last statement is a great segue into the new Health Care Bill that Democrat’s and Republican’s pushed through last year. I have a thought provoking question for you; if the new bill is so great, why have our elected officials exempted themselves from taking part in the program? After all, the rest of us continue to pay outrageous premiums to cover family members and ourselves or we go without. Let's not forget that we, the taxpayers, are covering a high percentage for them and their family’s excellent health care plan.

In addition, they have exempted themselves from FICA taxes and the Social Security program. Senator’s also vote themselves raises in salary and per-diem each year. Since we elected them, it should be us deciding, and voting on raises in these two areas. Seems fair to me; what do you think? With their job performance over the last 10 to 20 years, I think they should take a huge pay cut, be forced back into the Social Security program, be required to pay their own health insurance, and prohibit exemption from certain laws they do not want to follow. Yes, they have done that too!

I recently received an email addressing a much-needed change for our leaders --- an amendment to the constitution, which reads as follows:

“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.“

I am 100% for this change! I also encourage each of you reading this to write your representatives and insist on this amendment. Why should any elected official be exempt from the laws they make --- that rule our lives!

Another issue you should address in your complaint is “outsourcing”. An estimated 750,000 jobs in the United State were moved to foreign countries. According to the companies who promote this behavior more will follow. With corporate greed spiraling, they will move quickly in the name of "profit" with no thought of the destruction left behind. This ravenous trend will continue until our leaders force a STOP to outsourcing!

In case you haven't heard, American taxpayers gave billions of dollars to save General Motors from bankruptcy. How does GM repay us, by sending more jobs (equal to four assembly plants) out of the country? It doesn't stop there; taxpayer money will subsidize an increase of imports from overseas. This makes it possible for GM to bump up auto production abroad and ship cars into the United States for sale.

Obama’s Czars ---who have connections to Wall Street - Big Business and Banks--- were right on target by protecting their special interests while disregarding the middle class and poor. I am not surprised! They should have forced GM into bankruptcy! Instead, the bailouts have allowed the increasing obliteration of our manufacturing jobs.

Thanks for your interest and comment Dolores. It’s sad how the GREED of big business and elected officials have become the ruling force in this country. People need to “wake up” and stop reelecting these self-serving individuals!

I am certainly with you on this. I'd like to see the people in Washington feel a bit how we feel, or else how can they understand. Cut their pay as well, just like everyone else's. Here we talk about cutting funding for the poor, elderly, disabled, and sick while the big bank CEO's walked away with giant bonuses for screwing the US taxpayer.

And the auto bail-out...what good does it to hand over money. They should have issued all Americans a sort of coupon worth, maybe $15.000 to be used toward the purchase of a car from one of the ailing industries. Everyone would benefit. And I bet it would have cost way less.
