Promise The World...

But It's Not A Good Idea

It's easy for a politician, any politician, to promise this country the world. It is much harder to deliver. In Obama's case I have never witnessed any President in my lifetime promise so much and fall so drastically short. I was born in 1951 so I've seen them come and seen them go.

I saw the hand writing on the wall back in 2008 when a relative unknown burst upon the scene and the snake oil sales pitch began. I cautioned people not to let their emotions over rule their common sense but it was for naught. People were weary and rightfully so but they decided to choose someone who had no idea what to do, when to or how to do it to guide the greatest nation on this earth we live on.

I was hoping against hope that Obama could deliver. That's where many of his disciples should have been rather than telling anyone who knew his policies were as screwed up as a soup sandwich that we were racist, or we were this or we were that. More than a few of us have walked in moccasins that those koolaid slurpers had never experienced and hopefully never will.

But I have also seen some consummate con men in my life and pegged him for that just by the total lack of being able to gauge the man by any discernible record. Who was he? No one seemed to know and the media didn't appear interested in finding out. That was an immediate red flag for me because the Lame Stream Media has been in the tank and biased for a couple of decades now.

Watching the collapse of any Presidency is not what any citizen wants to really see. But the electorate asked for a second helping of incompetence even after witnessing the first four miserable years where he had over promised and made many feel warm and fuzzy because he knew they wanted warm and fuzzy. Still empty promises are what politicians are made of. They are, in a sense, the worst sort of con men/women walking the face of the earth. He told the world that if he didn't have our economy fixed by the end of his first term then he would be a one term President. But, like many other things, he talks the talk but avoids the walk.

So we're into the first year of his second term and it's report card time. He has failed over and over again and there doesn't appear to be any relief in sight. He spent a large amount of political capital on gun control. The Second Amendment is sacred ground in this nation whether progressive liberals like it or not. His gun initiatives were non-starters and just recently a couple of legislators in Colorado got recalled when they decided to go against the will of the people. They jumped on that Obama wagon though and got hung out to dry for it. Climate change was a major issue during his inaugural address, During his first term the bill he tried to run through a Democratic majority Congress came up short and was tabled.

Next up was his idea of sequestration that was cooked up thinking that was a good idea in the absence of an agreement he knew would never be made. It was his idea and he blamed anyone and everyone but himself for it. So he got petty and stopped things like tours of The People's House for children and tourists. That's one of the pettiest things I've ever seen any politician do.

Hang in there I'm still handing out his grades.

It has been three years since Obamacare was passed over the objections of the majority of Americans. Waivers for the elites have been flying out of the HHS since it was passed. The employer mandate, one of the keys to the act, was just delayed until after the next election. That "after" should tell you something. Even the chief Senate architect of the bill has termed it a "train wreck" in the making and is even more unpopular now than it was when it was passed. A couple of weeks from implementation and nobody seems to know which way is up about making it work. The exchanges still aren't close to being ready.

The jobs reports have been consistently jiggered to give the false illusion that more people are back to work. The reality is that the labor participation rate is at an all time high and that means more people are giving up looking for work than ever before in history. The majority of jobs that are being created are part time jobs, not full time ones. Attribute some of that to Obamacare. Immigration reform is dead right now because the Gang of 8 tried to write another massive piece of legislation that would only make the situation worse, not better. More failures atop failures.

And now Obama's handling of Syria is making him the laughing stock of the world while Putin shows him what "more flexibility" really means. Obama went from being the roaring lion who was going to bomb Syria to a paper tiger when faced with reality. Benghazi remains a cover up and unanswered though Obama does seem concerned about the children who have died in the Syrian civil war and not the least bit about the 4 Americans who were left to die in Libya that fateful night of September 11th of 2012. Some one explain that to me.

This was the man who was going to heal the planet and make the oceans recede? Now someone bother to tell me now how an inexperienced community organizer was going to pull that one off? "Yes We Can" is now "No We Didn't." If they were the ones we've been waiting for then we're in even more trouble than I thought we were in going into this fiasco. This next video will easily illustrate the stark reality of what Obama promised and what he has failed to deliver.

I've been watching Presidents for decades now. As we watch Obama understand that all candidates over promise. That's their nature. Then they fall short when they assume the highest office in this land. Some fall shorter than others but no person who has ever sat in that chair has made so many promises and failed to deliver on them so many times during his tenure. He has outdone even Jimmie Carter.

Narcissism At Its Finest

Obama got in over his head and has stayed there up to this very minute. he was totally unqualified and not experienced enough to handle the duties that are thrust upon the chief executive of our country. The harm this one man has done our nation is inexcusable and will stick to us for quite some time. Yes, Obama is a skilled orator but oration isn't leading. He can read a teleprompter like few can and get crowds fired up with empty words such as "hope" and "change." But let the lesson be learned the hard way as it has been. Sometimes life is like that. The next time a snake oil salesman who can sell fleas to a dog comes along and his claim to fame is as a community organizer - remember what happened this time don't ever forget about it.

As Always,

Perhaps voters should have (as a great man once said) considered the content of his character rather than the color of his skin. He was given the TOTAL support of the Liberal-Progressive Movement because he fit all the demographics to appeal to the masses. Yes, he fit the demographics but lacked the training and temperament for the job.

Jayfort - Ironic that MLK advised people ot judge others by the content of character and not skin color. So along comes Obama decades later and people did the opposite. Hopefully it won't happen again based on either color or sex.

It is common these days to hear the term "low information voters." After watching some man-in-the-street interviews I believe "low information" is a classic understatement. We have voters who could not even name the Vice President, have never even heard of Fast & Furious or Benghazi, and can't even name their own elected representative.

Because they are so uniformed, they are left to pick their candidates of choice by skin color, sex, hair, smile, and of course the "D" or "R" beside their name.

If they had to take and pass a test prior to casting their ballot, our polling places would be ghost towns.

The only word they really hear and understand is "Free." Free Obama phones, free healthcare, free food stamps, free birth control, and many more. The candidate that uses the word "Free" in his campaign speeches is their guy.

I suspect our next president will be a female, and I shudder to think who this will be.

You laid it out as it is, Jim -- amen and amen! Best/Sis

Right on the money Jim. The problem is that articles like this have very little impact on Obama, because the only opinion Obama cares about is his own. Either you're too unknown to worry about, or are too influential to tolerate (I still think, without proof, that Andy Breitbart was killed in a federal hit because he unearthed actionable evidence in regard to the Birther issue). Still, slamming Obama is very cathartic, and I do it myself often for peace of mind. But sadly, catharsis doesn't actually fix anything. Democrats will remain "socialist-lites," and the RNC will continue to do everything in their power to weaken the election odds of TPM and other liberty oriented GOP conservatives in favor of establishment RINO's who lack any heartfelt ideology and are easily manipulated by the Democrats. Obama aside, I really fear for the future of this country. Our colossal accumulated public and private debt, enormous monetary overhang, caving national morality, and lack of will in geopolitical and military matters leads me to believe we are a country in decline that may have crossed the point of no return. I hope of course that I'm wrong, but to borrow from the Anointed One, hope alone does not create change. Worthwhile change of the kind we need requires courage and sacrifice, something neither the People or government appear to have in much quantity.

It seems that only birds of a feather that flock together will have the greatest level of survival. This seems to be true in human relationships just as much as it is in the animal kingdom.

States that depend upon each other and have the same concerns will survive as well.

It's true that polticians promise things, and over the years they've discovered that theye can promise the kinds of things that once would never have appealled to Americans (universal health care for example). Now the genie is out of the bottle. I agree with Stu's assessment that "we are a country in decline that may have crossed the point of no return." I certainly enjoy reading your rants; it's a release for me just as it is for you. Sadly though, I suspect that this catharsis is about all we'll get from ranting.

Hxprof - No telling where this is going. I was impressed with the 2 million Biker March to DC. Unfortunately I could make that ride or would have been there. Those folks were all patriots and have the will and determination to help save this nation. You see we love the United States of America and have usually served her at least once.

Putin isn't impressed with a media propped-up community organizer president. I wonder if Obama has any regrets with his transformation of our country.

...and as strange as it gets, the Kool Aid lovers continue to imbibe. Can't tell if it's the sugar high or that lovely red food dye.

Take, for example, the local businessman here in southern Arizona who recently delivered our new (much larger) water storage tank. Here's a man in business for himself, has sold by his own account 10 big rig loads of tanks since March, yet it was clear when I brought up politics--which I often do, just because--it was also clear he's an Obama voter who wonders why things are as tough as they are and yet refuses to make the connection between the Imposter in Chief and his day to day challenges.

The lemmings continue to plunge off the edge of the cliff.

So long as the majority of Americans remain ignorant of politics and fail to engage in critical analytical thinking...there will be a long line of Obama rock star presidents and the inevitable decline of our country will continue. The most common reason for voting Obama is"I don't know,I just really like him".The time honored use of inflaming emotions in order to push reason and logic into the back ground has become epidemic in all areas of American society.I believe very soon politics will become inconsequential and the Real masters of America will show themselves.

cheaptrick - As long as too many Americans don't have to pay a cent of income tax and have their paws out for the freebies I see this continuing on as our career pickpockets envision. Obama's over boastful, self-aggrandizing rhetoric doesn't fix anything. It never will.

Van 3 years ago

People keep saying that this president is way over his head. I disagree. If you read his books and all of his past speeches and writings before he was in the political eye, he is achieving exactly what he set out to do. His rhetoric to get elected was positive but his intentions were very dark. He was raised by communist grandparents and mentors, he was brainwashed by a muslim madrasas in Indonesia and he came to office with the plan to do what both of those social philosophies need to accomplish their plans for global domination. That is the total destruction of the United States as a Constitutional Republic that is the only Super Power defending Liberty around the world. When you look at it from that perspective, then you see that he has been wildly successful beyond anything he could have realistically hoped. And he has been able to do it with the collusion of the supposed opposition party the Republican Party who refuses to take any steps to stop the insanity. As a life long Republican, I have come to believe that the Party no longer supports the Constitution any more than the Democrats. We have to get the conservatives in this country to wake up and put only constitutional conservatives in office to have any hope of turning the ship around before it ends with a civil war in this country.

Sanxuary 3 years ago

We did so much better when the Republicans were in charge. Always skipped is the fact that the economy crashed before Obama and that the Republicans are the ones who believe in austerity measures after destroying our economy. The economy of single ownership was never going to work but its still working fine for them. Next up is the stock market crash and all the money will be back in the pockets of the few and we can play another 40 year game of economic slavery.

profile image

Jayfort 3 years ago

The economy crashed because of the unsustainable "housing bubble" which came about because of the Democrats passing legislation to relax lending policies to allow people to purchase homes who couldn't afford the payments!

When G.W. Bush and the Republicans sought to look into the problem in the early 2000s, they were blocked by the *gasp* Democrats!

The Frog Prince profile image

The Frog Prince 3 years ago from Arlington, TX Author

Jayfort - You and many of us have taken time to actually research the subjects before we begin talking. What a lot of these "know it alls" don't know is that any major economic policy takes ten years to come full force on any economy this size. So let them do the math now.

The Frog

Frog and Jayfort - Me too!! The only thing that slows down the Obama agenda is public speech, because that puts reelection fear into our esteemed members of Congress.

someonewhoknows - You are right about "birds of a feather." Federal overreach could be stopped dead in its tracks if enough States, especially contiguous ones, enacted sovereignty laws nullifying unconstitutional federal laws, regulations, and orders. The fed's can't do anything without State cooperation and corporate assistance. This cooperation and assistance can be denied by the stroke of a Governor's pen if State legislatures start to get serious about the Tenth Amendment.

Hxprof - Thanks for your comments. I'm very much in favor of public ranting, but ALOT of people have to do it to have any influence over Congress.

Van - Hit the nail on the head. Obama ISN'T stupid; he's EVIL. And the RINO's who make up most of the GOP will only challenge Obama on social issues; on economic issues they are statists just like the Democrats, because without boatloads of unconstitutional federal law and regulation, they have nothing to sell as waivers in exchange for campaign cash. It all boils down to "pseudo-legalized extortion."

Sanxuary - In truth, we've done poorly for decades under both parties, but alot of the damage was hidden by stimulus from federal borrowing of foreign money and its subsequent spending. Now our combined official and off balance sheet debt stands at 700% of GNP (according to government figures), and some experts say that actuarial assumptions in SS/Medicare/Medicaid are ridiculously optimistic. The real figure could be over 1,200% of GNP, or $650,000 per man, woman, and child in America. Once foreign sovereign wealth funds stop rolling over their US Treasuries (China has already started to do this), our only option will be to inflate even more (print even more money). There is grave risk that the dollar could crash, personal savings could be wiped out, and US businesses could collapse en masse adding greatly to already very high unemployment (US companies will not be able to purchase intermediate production goods that are no longer capable of being sourced in the US because the dollar would be worth so little on the FOREX; much of US production is now final assembly of foreign made parts, because US companies don't make the parts any more).
