Why Do We People Hate One Another and Judge Each Other?

Hate

Hate...Such a strong and overused word: "I hate the rain", "I hate black licorice". We use this word every day. Think about it; what are some of the things that you hate? When was the last time you used that word? (I bet it was today!)

Well, I would like to say that I don't hate anything, but of course, that would be a lie. We all have hate; it is an emotion that we are all born with and we must work to overcome it every day.

If untamed, this emotion turns into behavior: Prejudice, Violence, etc. And in fact, all behaviors can be modified, as they are learned, not innate .

One thing I can say, is that I do Hate war and I hate everything that comes with it. Broken countries, broken families, disease, death, and so on. I really would expect that human beings in this day and age, with all the available technology and communication, that we could eradicate most of the wars.

Why are we fighting the Taliban? Did anyone ask us to do that? Is the Taliban responsible for 9-11 ? I know that we are liberating some people in that region, and I am happy for that, but maybe, just maybe, we should choose our battles wiser. I could go on and on about the "Bush Agenda" (starting with the Father) but why bash people and cry over "spilled milk"? Let's move on from the present. We know that they did a lot of damage, but when are we going to move forward, as a country, as a Human Race?

We have 2 immediate possible outcomes:

1. Continue our way until most people die in a "WWIII", or

2. Change the way we think and practice our politics. Health Care is very important, and I, personally, support Social Healthcare much like the model in Canada. But that's not my point here. We need to get out of the Middle East and fight out own battles at home: Disease, AIDS, Cancer, Gangs, Unemployment...the list continues.

In short, we need to take care of our own problems before we create newer problems throughout the world. We need people to become educated on world affairs, Vote, and take action! Only then can we truly represent and help the world.

If Canadian Healthcare is so good, then why do a lot of Canadians come to the US for surgery?

These terrorists don't represent a country, but they infest it like a parasite. Afghanistan is where the big parasite planned 911.

I agree with some of what you say here. I think we should worry more about taking care of our own. So much help went to Haiti--deservedly so--but when the USA has a tragedy, the world never rushes to help us. I also agree that war is a horrible thing and it would be great if we could avoid it. In my opinion, the war in Afghanistan CANNOT be ignored or stopped too early. The Taliban was the political arem of Al-Quada. The attack on 9-11 was on CIVILIANS!! This war was NOT begun by America, but those fanatics want all of us and our nation GONE! For the future of my child and my country, I hope we WIN.

Excellent SheriSapp!

One comment I have is that maybe the reason no other country helped us is because they recognize that we can Take Care Of Ourselves!

I know why we are in Iraq (oil) but Afghanistan is a little more murky. I believe it has something to do with the military industrial complex that wants to make blood money off of our kids, much as was the case in Viet Nam.

A passionate hub! I suggest that we're a global community though and dealing with problems at home alone won't make world issues that affect us all go away. Things should be done differently, with compassion and love. 'They say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one...' John Lennon

muley84, I am sorry It took so long to write back! This comment must have slipped through the cracks! I couldn't agree more with you about the "Blood Money" and most of the kids that die in these wars, are poor. How many rich kids die in these wars?

Thanks for the comment!

Your words are very wise, I totally, agree with you.

We can use other words like I do not prefer instead of I Hate.

I Voted Up & Awesome, I tweeted.

By the way, although it was tweeted correctly the tweet count in this hub is Zero.

Thanks

Great Hub. I am often conflicted about the war in Afghanistan because I feel strongly about the plight of women and children in that nation. That being said, we have our own fish to fry here, and we're running out of money. If we don't get her financial house in order, we're not going to be able to help anyone, even our own.

We don't hate each other, It is just that we have been misunderstood by each other. Media and Governments have played their role in tearing apart the civilization by only talking about the differences between them. 9/11 was one more act of US govt and the CIA that cleared the dust of confusion, People started hating and misunderstanding each other more then ever. For me its the government and media that is responsible for creating hate among humanity, not the talibans or children of America that are sent to Afghanistan to be killed. At the same time thanks to Almighty that I am still not among those who hate people by believing my government.

Awesome, beautiful, useful and interesting! I agree with you that the hatred spewed out of folks mouths telling a crowd to "get them", is horrible. Claiming that Social security is a ponzi scheme? This is why you are so correct. We need to fix us, worry about us first. I pray all of our brave men and women come home, now! I voted up..really cool J.S. :)

We hate each other since we have already loved each other!

Love and Hate are two faces of the same coin.

In my opinion, a real hate is the other state of an unresponded love.

Thanks Matthew! It means we can convert "hate" to "love"! People can't always use only one side of a coin, but they can remember that is the same coin!

Thanks for writing this Hub. I like this subject and I was thinking of that long time ago.

Maybe people should stop flipping coins altogether, Ali! Every time we flip a coin we risk losing the bet, and losing the coin itself. We should rather keep our coins, or use them for something in the service of others. Only then will no purse be empty.

I like the subject of this hub. I agree everyone needs to speak up against those that hate and express hatred. I believe hate comes from anger, especially unexpressed anger. May be we need to find appropriate outlets for anger and then perhaps hate will dissolve. The entire world seems to be angry and hateful. I think people are frustrated by the times and the economy and take it out on one another. Attitude change is what it takes to get rid of anger and hate. So, how do we change the world's attitude? It is not an easy thing to do. I'm rambling so I guess I'll close now.

J.S.Matthew profile image

J.S.Matthew 5 years ago from Massachusetts, USA Author

suzettenaples, We Do need to speak out against hate. Anger, which is an emotion, leads to Hostility and Fear. Fear leads to aggression (a behavior), and aggression leads to War and Ignorance. If you look at it, there is always a predictable cycle. We need to change our attitudes so that we can harbor Peace. The reason we ramble is because we are sick of it but do not have a loud enough voice. I appreciate your comment very much!

Hi J.S. I'd like to rephrase a part of your comment and say:

Ignorance leads to fear, fear to aggression and aggression to war.

I found it difficult to believe that none of the US' allies have ever rushed to help in a crisis. In fact they they have offered a huge amount of help, with a range of types of assistance. The problem is that the US lacks the procedures to receive the help; there is often too much red-tape to accept it...

I think hate is also one of the instrument in our feelings but it should also used only to its needed level.

Hate should be expressed either in words or writings or a shouting and not into violence.

Because if you dont hate in this world you are putting pressure on your heart and one day it will explode. Why girls live longer is because they express happiness and sad suddenly.

God has blessed them with the gift of crying which is not with majority of men. That is why heart failures are more with men. this is what I understood. May be I AM WRONG.

I totally agree with Mr J.S.Matthew. it is really painful when we disregard people problems, but it is more worse when some superpower countries exploit other weak countries. It is difficult to control people thinking or feeling about anything, but we must to know that all of us will die sooner or later. therefore we have no time to hate each other. only one who will sustain competitive for ever he is our God. we belong to him and we will charge people and countries who injustice us

@Sunshine625: It sure is an ugly word and what makes it worse is that it is taught! There is a difference though between hate and dislike. I can dislike a part of something yet like it as a whole. When someone hates something, it tends to be in it's entirety. Thanks for commenting Sunshine!

Absolutely!!! We need to take care of business at home. The hate factor has caused the worst to come out in many. Our goal should be to have the best come out of ourselves each day.

I do hate some things....I hate it when someone is cruel to someone else for example and I hate it when we have starving and homeless children and adults in our country but we spend billions on wars that are not to be won or research on topics that do not deserve attention. It is amazing how much grant money is available for projects that are questionable.

However I try not to get caught up in the hating cycle as it seems to lead to a dead end. So glad you shared these thoughts with us.

The word hate is often misused.Sometimes though there are genuine feelings of hate .Are these feeling right? No they are not.But the majority of humans have hated, not just disliked something before.Even when we say 'Hate is such a hateful word."We are showing more than disdain for a subject.
