Revolution Depression Destruction
The United States of America was born out of tyranny. British government regulation and taxes slowly eroded profit and hope from the colonies. As tyranny drove the colonies broke so went their liberty.
On April 19, 1774 the hard working colonial people refused to be treated and used as pawns. They took a stand that became known as the Battle of Lexington. The American Revolution had begun.
The American Colonies and the British Empire would no longer be the same. The core of human conscientiousness fought for a solution that it could not resolve through any other means. With untold suffering and bloodshed the course of human events would change forever.
The outcome was monumental. A new collective conscience was forged from the will of mankind. A conscientiousness that declared:
“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
In case you don't know it (too many of you don't) those words are from the preamble of the Constitution of the United States of America. The Constitution is the law; in fact it is the highest law of the land. It has been ignored and convoluted without consequence or conscience by America's politicians. Meanwhile, America's people have been sleeping despite the wonderful gift of freedom they have been given.
Unlike today, the people of the new Republic took personal responsibility for their lives. They refused to be hostages to fear and captive to control. They yearned for liberty and justice and were willing to earn it.
The Great Depression of the 20th Century.
The 20th century experienced a great depression that affected at least 25% of America's population. It was brought about by government regulation that was infected with poor and illogical policy. Both Hover and Roosevelt imposed new taxes. State and local governments jumped on the bandwagon as well. These taxes grew to 70% in some areas of the country and killed incentives for work and investment.
Many claim that government ended the Great Depression through public work projects. This is false. These projects focused on a small portion of the economy and created temporary jobs.
Henry Morgenthau Jr., FDR's Treasury Secretary admitted before congress in 1939 that all the government spending did not work.
World War II affected every sector of the economy forcing the US out of its non-productive state. Orders for weapons and supplies started to create incentives for businesses and jobs. With millions of men drafted into the Armed Forces and women manning the factories, unemployment was was no longer an issue.
In 1945, after America won the war (and we did win it), government drastically cut its spending. It was at that time that the private sector took off and the depression was put to bed.
Americans concerned themselves with getting back to normal. The chaotic years of the Depression through WWII were busy times for Americans. The depression seemed far away and Americans were taken care of by the promise the New Deal and Social Security.
There would be no Revolution this time around.
The Great Chaos of the 21st Century
President Carter signed the Community Reinvestment Act that forced banks to make loans to those who could not afford them. President Clinton turned up the heat by forcing and threatening banks to increase the number of bad loans. Of course, neither president could have done it without a willing Congress.
American banks were forced to make loans to people who could not afford to repay them. Faced with government regulation and rising property values over the last 20 years. the banks became creative underwriting loans for expensive homes. With little or no money down, the repayment terms were dirt cheap for the first few years. However, when the payments increased thousands were faced with the reality they knew all along. They could not afford it and had no choice but to walk away from their expensive new homes
Despite regulation, the banks thought they were looking at a long bright future. As more and more loans were underwritten, the paper was diced and chopped into portfolios and sold to investors around the world. The banking industry kept moving forward never looking at the big economic picture. It never dawned on them that inflated housing prices and money equals limited and unstable sales.
In the meantime oil prices skyrocketed in part by increased worldwide demand. Consumers spent a tremendous amount of cash just to get to work and heat their homes. Prices increased for just about everything because of transportation costs and oil is used in making everything we buy – even aspirin. This left the consumer with less money for other needs and services including mortgages.
Barney Frank (who should be in an orange jumpsuit), the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee told you everything was right with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Shortly thereafter we all found out Fannie, Freddie, and a whole host of financial institutions were in deep trouble due to bad loans. Barney Frank lied to you just like many other politicians.
Barney Frank has given away millions of your hard earned dollars to high profile financial institutions for his own egotistical benefit. And he along with the President and Congress will give away billions more. Its money they stole from you. Yet the people of Massachusetts will keep him in office.
Years ago the USA went off the gold standard. Government kept printing money as inflation slowly rose upward eroding the goods and services you could afford. The politicians and bureaucrats thought they could control the value of the dollar. They used the Federal Reserve Bank in an attempt to control interest rates while printing more and more money.
The truth is that the economy has been on a roller coaster ride since the 1970's. Your Government has been meddling in business of which it has no knowledge. Government has been building your cars, telling your employer how to run his or her business, controlling your finances, and eroding your God given right of free choice and liberty. American, you certainly seem to like it!
The first stimulus package of 2008 totally failed. It failed to address the issue of increasing products and services. Instead people either paid bills or saved their government checks.
Today as in the past, government sees itself as a means to an end. Your politicians have given away millions of dollars to financial institutions rewarding failure and outrageous compensation. The latest stimulus package follows the same old pattern of pork and wasteful spending. America, where is the change, promise, and hope that you were promised?
How do your feel about your government stealing your hard earned money and handing it out to people who where irresponsible? Will you feel good knowing your Politian's are well taken care of while your living in a tent city?
The suffering, bloodshed, and death spent for your freedom means nothing today. You have taken your liberty for granted and left your politicians raid the kitchen. Even after your politicians were caught red handed, you gave them the keys to the house.
Fear has you in its grips. Fear knows you want a messiah to save you. Fear knows you won’t take control of your own destiny. Fear knows you will point the finger and blame someone else. Fear also knows there is no messiah.
The repercussions of our financial dilemma and government action have yet to be truly felt. This has depression written all over it.
When things get really bad, how will you react? Will you take to the streets and reap havoc on your neighbors like your European counterparts. Is there even a chance you will educate yourself, forgo the political rhetoric, and use your common sense to stop your politicians from devouring you?
You don’t want to know the truth. You just want someone to care and rescue you. Don’t you?
America, you need to look in the mirror and start taking personal responsibility for you own actions and politicians.
