Rowing Up Stream With ONE Paddle???

Yes my friends it has come to this and that little paddle is not enough, we paddle three strokes forward and slide two---strokes back. Our greed is destroying what our very existence relies on. The almighty dollar is raping our land and our lives and our children and grandchildren will be the ones that will suffer the most. (The Greed if it All?)

Maybe it is time that we opened our eyes much wider? We only see what is happening at the MOMENT. Our everyday news media has taught us this habit and we seem to follow along like sheep. We are not looking at the results that will follow far beyond our shores into the interior of our land.

EXAMPLE: WATER!

When was the last time you strolled along a stream or a river that wasn't in some national park where it was maintained by a crew to keep it clean? I was an avid stream fisher(gal) for many years and have fished many of the areas from the west coast to the east. I found a great piece of mind sitting on a bank of a stream with my children as the learned this great sport. (Marshmallow---Fishing) I remember a hubber you all know Jerilee wei-caught her first fish on a stream in the High Sierra mountain range where the water was pure and clear.

Recently I strolled down along the Potomac River and picked and stumbled through an array of soda, beer cans and plastic bottles.

Stop and think?  how many of us are drinking bottled water now and where does that water come from and what is put into it?  Many of us that have well-water have been told that we can no longer use it and have been required to obtain other water sources.

Yes my friends we must open our eyes wider and look at the future---now!

MAN CAN LIVE WITHOUT THE GREED OF OIL---BUT HE CAN NOT LIVE WITHOUT WATER!

it is your CHOICE?

I think I was pretty carless about littering when I was younger. Only as I got older did the implications of it strick me as being inconsiderate.

Thanks Tim, I appreciate your support.

Suziecat, yes our greed will destroy what we need the most.

dahoglund, I think that we are all guilty at one time or the other of this but this old earth can only take so much and it is speaking loud and clear---we must listen!

Excellent post, Ginn. You know, we go to our cabins at Pikes Peek each summer and each year it's noisier, more buildings are going up, more bears are coming down, the prairie dogs we used to watch for hours have been killed... My kids never saw the perfection it used to be.

Yes Frieda, it seems that where ever man can drive too he will some how leave his mark. Our wildlife on land and in the ocean is paying with their life's because of it.

I am glad that my kids got to see the perfection of how it use to be. thanks.

Ever the optimist, you still see us with one paddle while I, with none! You are right; GREED along with self centeredness and apathy has slowly destroyed us.

“Forethought and temperance are the virtues which produced thrift, and with thrift the economic progress of society. And those are the virtues which today are gravely compromised.” ~Adriano Tilgher

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed.” ~Mohandas K. Gandhi, quoted in E.F. Schumacher, Small Is Beautiful

Nancy, you are so right---I'm an optimist but I will hold on to that one paddle and row that much harder because without hope---there is no life.

I love your stuff, Ginn. You say it as it is....too bad the politicians don't read your stuff. They could learn.

Thanks nihouser, I think most of the politicians are busy following the MONEY TRAIL and you and I have only one tool---VOTE.

Sometimes it seems so hopeless, especially these days with the BP oil disaster putting out an unbelievable amount of pollution. Still....a tiny seed of hope still exists but we'd all better wake up and take action. Love you.

Jerilee, your Cajun great grandfather had a saying---"When you are in the bottom of the barrel there is only one way--UP! This barrel happens to be full of oil and water and it is following the MONEY TRAIL. LOVE YA
