Sample Letters Soliciting Donations - Easy Examples To Follow

You can use any of these sample letters soliciting donations if the examples given will work for you.  Feel free to copy and paste them, and adjust them for your nonprofit or charitable organization.  There are two examples provided in the article.  One is for money and the other is for raising specific items.  Either one can work, depending on what you are trying to accomplish.  Let’s get on to our first sample letters soliciting donations.

For Money:

Dear friend,

As you know, I am heavily involved in project A at my church.  At project A we raise awareness and funds for the local food pantry.  I am proud to be a member of a group that raised over $500 for charity last year alone.  Our monetary donations help to provide those in dire need.

This year we are again asking for donations of money.  We have set a goal of $600 this year, a 20% increase of last year’s total.  With your support, I know we can raise enough money to provide many families with the food they need.   Can we count on your support again this year for project A?  If so, please use the enclosed envelope to send in your donation.

For Items:

Dear Friend,

As you know, I’m involved in project A through my church.  At project A, we raise awareness and food items for the food pantry.  I have always been proud to be a member of this group.  Last year, our food drive netted over 500 pounds of food items for the local pantry.  Your support helped those in the most desperate need.

This year we are once again asking for donations of food items.  We would like to give 600 pounds of non perishable items to the pantry this year.  Can we count on your support again this year?  If so, please drop off your items at the church.  There is a box in the entry way marked for this worth cause.
