Do You Think You Could Pick a Serial Killer Out of a Crowd?

  • Serial killers all look like crazy people that are about to explode. Right? Wrong.
  • Ted Bundy looked more like a young Senator than a serial killer, and he used his good looks to his advantage with every victim.
  • What is the public's undying interest in serial killers? In my opinion, it is because time and time again serial killers have proven that they could be your neighbors or your family, and they can go undetected for many, many years, causing us to analyze all of the relationships in our lives.
  • I used to tell everyone that all the men registered on dating sites looked like serial killers, but if I had run across Ted Bundy online, I would have met him with no reservations.
  • Luckily, we never met.

Jeffrey Dahmer

Most of Dahmer's victims were young boys of African or Asian descent. He was sentenced to 15 life sentences in prisons for the murders he committed. On November 28, 1994, he was beaten to death by a fellow inmate in prison.

Jeffrey Dahmer's "Normal" Childhood and Life

  • Jeffrey Dahmer was one of the most gruesome serial killers of all time, but unlike a lot of serial killers, he had a relatively normal childhood (most were emotionally, physically, or sexually abused) although by the time he was in his early teens he was riding his bicycle around his family's neighborhood searching for dead animals, which he took home and dismembered.
  • Dahmer starting drinking alcohol in high school and by the time of his graduation, he was a full-blown alcoholic, and from that time until he was murdered in prison, nothing was normal about Dahmer's life. He was kicked out of the Army for alcoholism and arrested on various occasions.
  • Dahmer's first taste of murder was while he was still living at his father's home. He picked up a hitchhiker and offered to take him back to his father's house. When the hitchhiker wanted to leave, Dahmer bludgeoned him to death and buried him in the back yard.
  • For a few years after his first murder, Dahmer picked up men at a gay bar and then killed them. It got easier with each kill and in the end he was indicted for 17 murders, although he probably committed many more. He was found guilty of 15 murders and was sentenced to 15 life sentences in prison, where he was ultimately killed by another inmade who struck him in the head with a broom handle. He died of severe head trauma in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Super hub! I really enjoyed taking the quiz, even though I didn't do as well as I should have. I've read a lot about these monsters, and you're right: many of them bear no resemblance to what one would imagine a serial killer would look like. I look forward to reading more.

Great hub. I think it would be pretty hard to spot a serial killer amongst a large crowd of people.
