100-year old woman found dead strangled with a plastic bag

ELIZABETH Barrow, 100, was found dead September 24, 2009 in her bed at Brandon Woods Nursing Home. She was suffocated to death with a plastic bag tucked in her head. Initially, police theorized the woman committed suicide. A son of the victim said that his mother was still active and still love and enjoy shopping.

After the autopsy, it showed that Barrow was strangled said Bristol District Attorney Sam Suffer. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide. Investigation reveals Barrow shared in her room a woman in her late 90's. There were no obvious signs of struggles. Investigations regarding Barrow's conflict with others if there are, produced negative results. Scott Barrow the only child of the deceased told the Standard Times of New Bedford the family celebrated her 100th birthday anniversary on August 21. (Daily News)

Laura Lundquist, 98, was indicted by a grand jury of 2nd degree murder charge for killing her 100-year old roommate, Elizabeth Barrow. The two had a standing dispute over the room they shared at a nursing home in Dartmouth. Bristol District Attorney C Samuel Sutter said investigations reveal that Lundquist had ill-feelings towards Barrow because she believed Barrow was taking over the room they shared at the nursing home.

Lundquist was ordered to report to Taunton State Hospital for psychiatric evaluation before the arraignment. Her medical record reveals "she has a long standing diagnosis of dimentia and exhibited other erratic behaviors" The evaluation could last 20 days and a court date had been set for last January 5.
