Should Obama Be Impeached Over Benghazigate?

Should Obama Be Impeached Over Benghazigate?

See results without voting

I wanted to create a poll to ask people whether they felt like President Obama should be impeached, in regards to what happened in Benghazi.

The U.S. Ambassador in Benghazi was killed in an attack in September. For several weeks the Obama Administration and top Administration Officials went before the American People and to the United Nations and blamed a Youtube video for the attack, according to the obvious video evidence - see video on the right.

During the second Presidential Debate, President Obama mentioned that he had used the term "act of terror" in a speech early on, after the attack, however, a deliberate, coordinated attack (be it a terrorist attack or not) was never the characterization which was repeated for weeks: the blaming of a Youtube video, that supposedly insulted Islam.

Should Obama Be Impeached Over Benghazigate? Why or why not?

I'm not sure if this rises to the level of impeachment-worthy. However, I think just this should cost him the election. It is clear that they have all been lying through their teeth for political reasons. Yet, they blame the other guy for making this political.

This is far more serious than the public is acknowledging. Not taking care of security needs not only cost lives but makes America look weak.

It is a fact that the film was reported on a Muslim television show which gave rise to demonstrations and acts of violence in many countries. Extremist Muslims have killed for less -- honor killings, killings over the burning of a Koran in the US, etc. so the confusion is understandable. In the Philippines Muslims are mostly peaceful, except for the few terrorists. The Imams convinced the Muslims to protest peacefully, and a court case was filed to have the film taken down from Youtube in the Philippines. So it's hard to say it was a deliberate lie, as both occurred simultaneously. Information and confirmation come in increments.

This POTUS not only lied he's now side stepping his lies and attempting to turn the whole thing in a different direction. The fact is he did lie in any event. If he knew about it in advance he did nothing about it and when he found out about it he attempted to cover up the truth. Security for any American anywhere is of prime importance -- or should be -- to any American POTUS. He waited far too long -- and danced around the facts far too long -- before he declared "the buck stops with him." Perhaps it finally did but it was far too little and too late. How bout this, there's reports now saying they new moments into the 7hr gun fight that this was going on. They were watching it via drone. There is a long standing tradition in the military, you don't leave anyone behind. The cia agents in the annex had a laser, the kind used to "paint" targets for F16s to bomb, you know those kinds of missles that have rediculous accuracy and can take out 1 building in the middle of a city and do almost 0 collateral damge?

Would you rather have heard, our ambassador and 3 others were killed and we did nothing

Our ambassador and 3 others were attacked and we sent air support immediately but they died from accidental collateral damage.

Imagine if you were getting assaulted on the sidewalk and some cops down the road didn't help because they weren't sure if they had guns or not so they just get in their car and drive away? Does that sound right to you???

There were also rumors that Bush knew in advance about the 911, that he had warnings. That said, why wan't he impeached? This stuff will happen, and continue to happen as long as there are terrorists. European embassies and US embassies are favorite targets, no matter what, no matter when. Terrorism is one sleazy thing and it will take time before it's completely defeated. Know who your real enemies are.

It was recently acknowledged by police officials that the waves of terrorism perpetrated in England after sept11 were governmental. Enough of scapegoating an invisible enemy (Al Qaeda is US salafist mercenaries meaning at its order, a kind of private milicia if you will) orchestrated by a foreign country!

It is US and its modus operandi was imported in England, France to terrorize its population to involve them in their governmental actions. Like in sept11, the population was so frightened that it hid behind its presidential measures and actions. It is called the awe and shock doctrine!

This story gets more horrifying and disgusting as we learn more. More disturbing, its like Obama is just waiting for it all to go away. What did Valerie Jarrett say, Obama's chief adviser? Why is Obama and the Admin acting like Americans don't know what we know?

He should be impeached, and held responsible for his crimes. At least Obama might just lose this election, and the men that died could only WISH that was all they had to lose. They lost their lives, while dying heroes, fighting off over 60 of the terrorists.

maxoxam41 profile image

Who were those heroes you are talking about? What did they do that was so extraordinary to deserve the appellation? What were those "heroes" doing in Libya? Secret operations?

oceansnsunsets profile image

Those US Seals gave their lives and fought against overwhelming odds to save a US Ambassador AND others there, when told to stand down. Were you not aware of that? Do you know the definition of the word, hero? I am going on the undeniable facts available to all.

What is most disturbing about your reply, Maxoxam, is that you seem to disregard that our President and Admin totally failed in this, and instead are almost going after the dead heroes. THAT, is unbelievable to me. Yes, they deserve all the kudos that could be given to them and more. We are finding out more about them every day here, recently, as well. They were brave, bold, and did what was right, and paid the ultimate cost, and seem to continue to with people you seeming to slander the dead. Perhaps that is not what you were suggesting, and you care to clear that up for yourself. One need not know all the finer details to agree that what was done to these men, and the inaction by their commander in chief, is horrifying.

You are telling me that I should cry on the fate of war machines. Navy seals are war machines. The same ones that will kill anyone without a regret if necessary, at any order? And once again, what were they doing there?

If impeachment is the only way to get the facts of what happened and why Obama chose not to tell the truth, then OK.

The retardicans in the house don't have the guts to pass a bill of impeachment, and the demwits in the senate wouldn't remove him from office had he strangled his grandmother. This question is an academic exercise.

If it's proven Obama did nothing to save Ambassador Stevens & the 4 Americans who gave aid he should be impeached. He covered up his gunning running arms to Turkey & Syria by lying about an obscure anti muslim video as cause for the Benghazi attack. The truth will come out & Obama & his corrupt administration will have to quit the cover up

If impeachment would deliver us out of the mess that we were/are in than I say go for it. Unfortunately I really don't believe that it would solve anything.

In my opinion, there are many things that Obama should be impeached over. Many other things have happened since Benghazi. Now we have Obama using the IRS as a weapon against groups that don't agree with him. Now we also find out just how BAD Obamacare is and millions of people have lost their health insurance because Obama outright LIED to Americans by telling them over and over that if they liked their insurance, they could keep their insurance.

Obama lies to us. He is a master with words ( so he thinks) but his true colors have come out, long ago. Power and greed is behind all politics. Nothing new under the sun. (Proverbs) Even our most wonderful Presidenst have made big mistakes and many had integrity to admit to some of them. Obama twists words and works around and USA buys into it or gives into it.

If we would put God back into our hearts, schools and country everything would be different. As we pull away as a nation from God then He pulls back on the blessings We need to look at ourselves. Who is it we serve? Is it gods or Almighty God, creator of the univers. Giver of Life? God has so blessed our nation and it is now a mess. We voted Obama into office, two times! It is not his fault all is coming down. There are deep roots in the office. But GOD knows all things.

The USA needs to rise up and put God back into our culture, our lives, our schools, our hearts, our land, our country. God is the only answer to our dilemas and problems. Take Obama out and the mess is still there.

I know what I think about Obama but truly don't know if there is enough concrete evedence other than 'here say' to convict him. It is all here say in the congress.

God is faithful and just He is the final judge. Wake up America come back to God and take your head out of the sand. God wants to bless us but will not twist our arms so that we honor and respect and fear HIM. But if we repent and come back to Him He will so Bless us our Nation. He is God. He is IAM. He is Provision.

The facts are what's necessary to impeach him however the facts are meanngless without a congress that is hostage to truth and the constitution.

The majority of these elected "representatives" are hostage to their own self interests (first among them to get re-elected), special interests, pork (basically bribery) and the media. Both sides of the aisle are guilty of this and because of that they will do everything in their power (eg. Elijah Cummings, Md. on the House oversight committee hearing on Benghazi) to stonewall, obvuscate, distort or plain ignore the "facts". This admnistration's scandals are all labeled phoney by the media and the democrats without even knowing the facts! Not a smidgen of corruption the president says? So I guess there are no investigations ongoing since he has pronounced the conclusion.

The system is mired in procedure and schemes that are used to delay and prolong investigation of the facts and in the end no one can be brought to justice or accountability in a timely fashion if ever!

As far as Benghazi goes you have to be brain dead to not see just from the avialable evidence already that the truth of what happened and why was kept from the people solely to insure Obama's re-election and to protect Hil liar y's chances to run in 2016...but like everything this administration does, it was an ill conceived, incompetent and sophomoric attempt that even a child can see through...why would we want these people to run anything related to our county's security and health.

Remember Cindy Sheehan? Sheehan lost her son, Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, in the Iraq War in 2004, became a staunch anti-war activist, and an overnight celebrity. Where Sheehan went, cameras, microphones, and fawning praise followed, breathlessly capturing her every thought on President Bush and the war. The makeshift camp she set up outside of Bush’s Crawford ranch attracted scores of (other) celebrities, journalists, and even Congressmen. Sheehan’s message was not only devoutly covered but even flattering monikers were bestowed (“the Rosa Parks of the peace movement!”) and accolades were endless.

Sheehan was given any and every platform, with the media tripping over itself, for years, to report her words.

That same media, however, who believed Sheehan was owed an explanation, is curiously dismissive of Pat Smith. Pat Smith lost her son, Information Officer Sean Smith, in the Benghazi attack last autumn. But apart from a few scattered interviews, the mainstream media has, for months, turned its back on Smith, seemingly echoing Hillary Clinton’s “What difference does it make?!” sentiment. Far from receiving praise and encouragement, Smith, in an interview with Sean Hannity on his radio progra, emotionally noted the efforts to silence her.

This is not the America I knew growing up and if you ask me the people who control and run this country and the media don't deserve to be called Americans.

The answer is No I don't think we should impeach Obama. It is to risky and I think it will tear this country apart. If the republicans do win a good majority in the senate this fall (and I hope they do) they need to concentrate instead of taking power away from the executive branch and not just Obama so we don't have another president like him again.

Obama is a criminal. He is directly responsible for those deaths, whether by his gross indifference to any National Security issue (and that includes the safety of US citizens abroad) or intentional betrayal of those citizens. He SWORE, to uphold the Constitution. He not only doesn't uphold, it, but pisses on it daily.

There are many solid reasons to impeach this most lawless president. But since it requires 2/3 of the Senate (the "jury" in an impeachment proceeding) to remove from office, it would be futile and probably counterproductive to attempt it in this case at this time. No Senate Democrat would ever vote to remove the first black president for fear of losing that part of their base, nor would they consider going to Obama to tell him it was time to resign (as honorable Republicans did with Nixon before official impeachment proceedings commenced). If the media reported honestly, lying neither by commission or omission, the threshold for removal could probably be reached as Americans understood what this administration has done to destroy the foundations of our democratic republic and reacted accordingly. But the press abandoned their duty to report factually long ago. As bad as the Benghazi debacle was/is, the IRS scandal is even worse. That's the one that really demolishes the underpinnings of our form of government. Nixon only discussed using the IRS as a weapon to harm political "enemies," but it was one of the proposed articles of impeachment. Obama actually did it. And he's getting away with it as the press prefers to cover FOR him rather than cover and report on the investigation. Sickening.

Waste of time and money to impeach Obama. First of all, we would end up with Biden, who is actually quite good at impersonating a mule eating sawbrier, and not much else. Secondly, the problem is not only Obama, but also the mentality of those who succumbed to the brainwashing of the corporate media/entertainment industry and voted for a man they knew almost nothing about. Too busy watching dancing with the stars, etc to do their own due diligence. So now we have a man who is working towards "fundamentally transforming" this country into a one party, government controlled, banana republic. Can we wake up from this nightmare?

Do I think Obama should be impeached. Yes, hell yes. But it's not just Benghazi, altho he did pull off a cover-up with that video story and then had the nerve to repeat that lie to the families of the deceased. The media bought into it and then next thing you know he gets another 4 years to continue screwing up this country. However his biggest scam on the USA was/is Obamacare. His bald faced lie about "keep your doctor" and "keep your health care plan" was the biggest hoax played on us by a President and again the media covers his butt. Add to this the IRS scandal, fast & furious, VA scandal, the marine that has been in Mexico because of a wrong turn and the list goes on. What an incompetent piece of crap. Can we even survive 2 more years??? But what do you expect from a community organizer???

I think that it goes way back the cover-up. I do not want to end up with Joe Biden, it would probably be even worse.

The President of the United States takes an oath to uphold the laws and obey the Constitution. Obama has defied that oath and should have been impeached years ago. The corruption of this administration (Obama) is beyond belief...from the Justice Department, the IRS, the State Department, Homeland Security and the list goes on. Benghazi, to me, was the worst. Obama told the families of our 4 dead Americans that it was a video while standing near their caskets. He also spread that lie at his United Nations speech. Hillary Clinton spread that same lie and if this woman wins the next election we are all doomed. I am so ashamed of this President and what he has done to our country, to our children and grandchildren I can't stand to hear him talk or watch him on TV. I only pray we can survive the next year while he and his corrupt administration are in office. I could rage on over this terrible, terrible President but to answer you question, should Obama be impeached over Benghazi? My answer in YES, HELL YES.

You know there is a problem even bigger and more troubling than Barack Who's sane? Obama. And that is the idiots who voted for him. As long as people like this

are the majority of the electorate the Obama administration will remain the symptom of this disease, getting rid of him will not be the cure.

But then I'm all for addressing the symptoms, yeah impeach the bum, that would surely make the patient feel a little better anyway.

Cute, what do you do just copy headlines from liberal blogs? Try doing a little research and you'll learn that you can't believe liberals or apparently yourself either.

Besides the fact vast majority of these deaths were not Americans I guess you felt it appropriate to ignore this.

"Is Benghazi different? Absolutely," said Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and an adjunct assistant professor in Georgetown University’s security studies program.

One reason, he said, is that an American ambassador died in the attack, which hadn’t happened since the 1970s. Another relevant question, Gartenstein-Ross said, "is whether what happened was put to the American people in an honest manner, not just with respect to the administration, but also with respect to the intelligence community."

It wasn't put to the American people in an honest manner. George Bush never lied to the American people and blamed the attacks on a video while knowing all the time it was a planned terrorist attack as Obama, Hiliary and their intelligence did.

"As always, what causes the problem is not so much what happens, but the response to it," said Theodore R. Bromund, a senior research fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation. "‘If the administration had come out shortly after the attack and said, ‘Our consulate was attacked by organized Islamist forces, and we will pursue these terrorists and bring them to justice, one way or the other,’ I very much doubt there would be much juice in these hearings, if indeed they were being held at all."

Lance Janda, a military historian at Cameron University, agreed that Benghazi brings up important issues. "We probably should have had more United States forces on site or at least nearby," he said. And the administration had a "muddled response in terms of releasing information," he added.

Well Shyron turns out you're nothing but siren (look it up).

Of course, President Obama should be impeached. Not only because of Benghazi but for violating the Constitution which he took an oath to defend. He traded Bowe Bergdahl ( one traitor for 5 terrorists ) because as he stated "we never leave our own behind" yet he left 4 Americans to die under attack from terrorist for 13 hours. Geeze why are we so blind to what's right and what's wrong.
