Support our Troops and Soldiers PFC Clagget

I am writing this article because one of my co-workers needs our help. His step son, PFC Corey Clagett risked his life for this country, and is now a Prisoner of War, held by the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 101st Airborne, commanded by Col. Michael Steele, known for being involved in the incident in Somalia portrayed in Blackhawk Down. Two other soldiers that PFC Clagett was with, following orders given by Col. Steele, killed 3 Iraqi’s, and all 3 of the soldiers, including Clagett, were charged with murder for the incident. Col. Michael Steele refused to testify, and because of his notoriety was never charged. PFC Clagett is now being held as a P.O.W. at Ft.Leavenworth on an 18year sentence. The U.S. Army courts wouldn’t let PFC Clagett’s defense play a video of Col. Steele’s orders, nor would they allow them to show the court members the confession of the other 2 soldiers who admitted to shooting the 3 Iraqi’s, either of which would have led to an acquittal.

Is this how a member of our Armed Forces should be treated for putting his life on the line? This should be upsetting to anyone who calls themselves an American. I am also a veteran of the military. Although, the classified nature of the incident prevents me from talking about it (not wanting to risk the military coming after me), I saw first hand the cover-ups that go own by our own military. I worked in the nuclear field while in the armed forces, and barely a day went by that someone didn’t preach to us about integrity, telling the truth, and doing what was right no matter what the consequences. I saw it is about time that our military and government live up to the standards that they expect from our service men and women. Show some integrity, do what is right, even though it may lead to some embarrassment. The embarrassment will pass, but integrity lasts forever.

Please visit PFC Corey Clagett’s website ( View the video, and support his cause. How would you feel if you or one of your kids put their life on the line just to be taken Prisoner by the country and military that they swore to protect?

Are you saying that the military is trying to use him as the fall guy for the incident in Iraq where this happened and that for some reason this Col Micheal Steele is being protected from prosecution because Col Steele has freinds in high places? Sounds like it!

My question is did PFC Clorey Clagett do or say anything about the incedent to  Col Steele about reporting the incedent to higher ups in the military. In other words did your freind go over the Col 's head.

That could be why he's in this mess.

It could be a case of do as your told or else!

I had the website stored on my favorites list and just copied and pasted the link, but I fixed the link. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think that he went over Col. Steele's head. I think this incident caught someone's attention and was investigated, and the three soldiers became the fall guys. What I did hear on the video was Col. Steele specifically telling the troops to kill the Iraquis that they could have fight again later. I have talked to my co-worker quite a bit about the incident because of my experiences in the military and as a veteran. I am going to let him know about hub pages and this article and try to get him involved in answering the questions being posted.
