TALK THE TALK......THEN WALK THE WALK

INTRODUCTION

Fellow hubbers the title of this hub is a familial phrase in American popular culture. In the old days of my youth the phrase, “Put your money where your mouth is.” was synonymous with this phrase. It’s simply a manner of telling a person, or group to perform as they proclaim they will. In America your word must be as good as gold, or you have nothing. To quote Abe Lincoln, “ You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time ”!!!!!!!!!!!

TODAYS POLITICIANS

I for one am sick and tired of being taken for a fool by this current administration, and the congressional leadership. To quote that famous jurist, Judge Judy, “ Don’t pee down my leg and tell me it’s raining.” President Barrack Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Leader Reid are peeing down my leg, and telling me it’s raining!!!!!!!! That’s bad enough their hired minions do the same thing along with the Lame Stream media!!!!

To quote that great philosopher Howard Beale in the movie “Network”, I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are constantly talked to about “saved jobs”, “I inherited this mess”, “If the stimulus wasn’t passed things would be much worse.” etc, etc, ad nauseum!!!!!!!!!!!! At this point in time my pant legs are so pee stained I might as well toss them in the garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There’s no detergent on the market to salvage them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOVEMBER’S COMING

Fellow hubbers if you feel as I do, and fear for our children, and grandchildren, along with the survival of our Republic for God’s sake let your voice be heard loud, and clear this November, and take back the greatest country that ever existed on the face of the Earth!!!!!!!!!

Get out there, and vote for truthful leadership, and representatives who listen to your voice!!!!!!!!! The fate of the nation, and possibly civilization rests in your hands!!!!! Please don’t let future generations down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WALK THE WALK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, yeah, but Bush II gave us No Child Left Behind, Free Drugs for Seniors, and a huge deficit. He worked with Republican and Democratic Congresses to spend money we didn't have. His administration complained about the state of Freddie Mac but didn't make a big deal out of it.

Reagan spent like crazy, Clinton spent, Bush I raised taxes after campaigning on "Read my lips. No new taxes".

Nixon instituted wage and price controls, hardly a free market thing to do. We all forget very quickly that a team effort from both major parties got us here.

And we elected them.

nicomp,

All these people you cite are now historical figures. I'm talking about the here, and now!!!!!!!!!!

The last I heard Nixon was forced to resign and Bush I wasn't re-elected, and Reagan spent to get Democrats to go along with defense buildup to distroy the Soviet Union!!!!!!

Thank you for your contentious comment.

Tom - I'm with you in sentiment and we need to hold them all accountable. Get out to the town halls and make them answer the tough questions and do not vote by party but for the ideas on how to fix things. I have yet to hear any strong ideas from either party at this point. Keep up the good work!

Hmrjmr1,

I totally agree with your sentiments. We need good truthful leaders no matter of partisan divides. Vote for the best person who is truthful and shares American values!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your visit and comment.

Tom,

Eery isn't it? It seems as if we were sharing the same thought at the same time. You know I LOVE everything you said here. Of course, there is gonna be a lib living in the past; we shouldn't be surprised, BO is building an entire presidency off of that crap!

Sheri,

My daughters used to tell me I was psychic, but I told them psycho was more likely.

In all seriousness we must do all we can to preserve this union for future generations!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your supportive comment.

Great hub! Keep reminding everyone to vote the clowns out of office in November. The circus needs shut down.

SusanP,

I intend to do just as you have said. There's way too much at stake to do otherwise!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your wise comment.

They all do that which will get them re-elected. But some how, if that is what it is all about, are they doing the people's will.

Keep on hubbing!

eovery,

We must demand more than we have got in the past. Mediocrity won't get the job done anymore!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your comment.

Tom, I agree with your hub absolutely. We are talking about the here and now and all the pas presidents put together haven't done as much damage as BO has done in less than 2 years. Voted, rated up!

Pamela,

I agree with your analysis. My mother used to ask me if all your friends are jumping off a cliff would you jump off the cliff also? The obvious answer is two wrongs don't make a right!!!!!

We can't change history. We must forge forward from this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your supportive comment.

Pop,

I don't know if I can keep up such a helter skelter pace like you keep up, but I'll do as much as I can!!!!!!!!!!

In answer to one of the comments, how do I sign up for these free drugs for seniors he talks about?

Term limits would probably help.

dahoglund,

Even with Medicare Advantage all my medical costs are way up along with premiums. I agree with term limits!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your comment.

The past is the past, we voted and ignored in the past. This is a new era! My only fear is the Republicans are not screaming they will repeal everything Obama has put into place! I am not hearing anything from their side and it bothers me!

American Romance,

I agree with your position. We need something akin to the "Contract With America" of 1994!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your constructive comment.

"Term limits would probably help."

No, term limits are a violation of the First Amendment.

@Tom Whitworth :

"Thank you for your contentious comment."

I apologize if mentioning recent history is contentious. Imagine if the Obama or Clinton administrations had given us No Child Left Behind or free drugs for seniors, both of which are unfunded and nowhere in the powers granted to the federal government by the constitution. Conservatives would be having kittens. Both sides of the aisle are spending and regulating us into bankruptcy. We can't give Bush a free pass because he was ostensibly a conservative. He governed like a spendthrift.

Tom Whitworth profile image

Tom Whitworth 6 years ago from Moundsville, WV Author

nicomp,

If term limits are a violation of the 1st Amendment they can be handled with another amendment just like the presidency.

Thank you for your return and comment.

nicomp profile image

@Tom Whitworth: I agree. If term limits are so important, amend the constitution. The same thought process applies to 'free' health care.

snagerries,

I agree we can do better now than in the past. What's done is done, and gone, but the future is riding on us to do the right thing!!!!!!!!!!

Nicomp,

You are commenting faster than I can keep up. I dont give Bush a free pass at all!!!!!! As for seniors getting free drugs it obvious you are a young person my medication and Medicare Advantage is a significant part of my budget.

My purpose was to talk about going forward and as such I deemed your original comment of the MANY contentious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What we also must do is make sure the ones elected walk the walk. How long do you think it will take McCain to change his talking points once he's reelected? Right now he's gung ho for a border fence. Will he still feel that way once he's settled in for another term? I very much doubt it.

Tom Whitworth profile image

Sorrowfully I must agree with your point on McCain. He was all gung ho for amnesty just a few years ago, but it's up to all of us to hold our representatives feet to the fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your insightful comment.

Tom Obama is in office because America wanted to prove that it is colorblind , politically correct and for the most part has this " American Idol " E Entertainment mentality that confuses flash for substance. Now I will say this , we have been sold out by both the GOP and the village Idiots in the Democratic party. And what disturbs me is that a fossil like MCcain won the Arizona primary because he had money to back him up and Hayward had nothing. Money wins elections not quality of candidate. That is what pisses me off !

Tom Whitworth profile image

Tom Whitworth 6 years ago from Moundsville, WV Author

Tony,

I totally agree with your point of view. We must support common man candidates with common sense. They musy know we are their bosses, and we won't tolerate their arrogance anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for you visit and common sense comment.

You wouldn't think it would take much, whether some are old blue hairs like McCain (at least he does love this country) or not, to take our country back by November. We need to put our vote, our voice, behind the best candidates, and a factor in that choice of 'best' needs to be 'best' capable of unseating a Democrat. Too bad we can't impeach Congressman if they don't do what we want- or can we? :)

AR is right, why aren't we hearing more individual candidates screaming repeal, repeal, but maybe they're trying to walk the narrow walk, same as Obama did, and capture votes from both sides of the aisle? Yuck.

If the Republicans have so much money, I don't see why I'm not seeing slick pro ads several times a day already, encouraging/supporting grass roots local voter mobilization at the precinct level, etc...

Tom Whitworth profile image

Tom Whitworth 6 years ago from Moundsville, WV Author

KFlippin,

I agree with you, but I wish McCain had found his voice in 2008, and then we might have avoided this mess. Why was he so meek, and silent during the campaign? I think he should have turned Palin loose on the whole Progressive crowd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your cogent comments.
