Tears of the Human Spirit
Bed of Roses
The Sign of Tears
In being human, we all show the signs,
and some are very plain to see,
A smile or laugh, a greeting to all,
a happiness shown by you and me.
When we are mad or saddened,
frowns may be written, upon our face.
A stoic look in our times of stress,
helps us to display our look of grace.
When things seem well in sunshine's warmth,
the skies up high are blue,
Our joy of life, is then shown to all,
in that which we may say and may do.
When things go wrong, on an unhappy side,
our faces show we are sad,
Tears may fall, softening the pains,
until at last we're changed, to be glad.
The tears of sadness felt, and tears of joy,
and tears of a life well spent,
Tell the world about our humanity,
and that it cost not a penny, one cent.
We can wash away the bad tidings,
rejoicing in our blessings we shared,
Then lift up our heads in joyful refrain,
singing of how much we all cared.
